Nice video, thank you for putting this together. We already have two smokeless for different purposes and in need of additional firepit for another property. I have a small solo, a tiki and decide to just purchase this over a few options that costco had. The tiki and solo have been great. The design of this appears better than the one that Costco has and it was good to see your positive review, it helped me decide this was the option that best meets my needs for this location.
Thanks for the review. I bought this same model at a discount store yesterday for $75. Haven’t got it assembled yet. Looking forward to using it. I believe the way the smoke free factor is about the same as a the way a rocket stove is smoke free after the fire gets going.
I just bought one today, need to assemble it tomorrow. It’s starting to get cool enough to enjoy it. My old cheap pit never did burn very well, hope these do better. Thanks
I will add that I stayed at a campground this weekend that has only been open for a year and the site has Solo stoves. The solo stove I used was slightly small than my firepit, worked about the same as far as smokeless and was in way worse shape. Their fire pit was really rusty and discolored. In fairness I have no way to know how much more use they have on that pit vs mine and how often it gets cleaned.
Good review. This is very similiar in appearance to the USA made Breeo but at a fraction of the price. The Breeo can be used (according to the advertisement) as a grill. Basically you just lay hamburgers, steaks, etc on the stainless lip and use that as a cooking surface. When the pit gets hot, the top lip is designed to flex inward enough that the juices will run to the inside and not down the outside. Have you tried this with this one? Thanks!! God Bless.
I mean it does get hot but also collects debris. I would so no because it depends the consistency of the fire on how hot it would be. Plus would make a huge mess.
Thank you for your review. I’ve been thinking of getting one but not sure of what size. How far do you think the heat radius goes out? And how many people could comfortably sit around it (in say folding lawn chairs) and stay warm? Thank you.
We fit 5-6 people around ours but if you keep it fed with wood and flames coming out the top I would say 6-8 comfortably. The trick is to get red hot coals in the entire bottom and then keep putting logs in after that and it stays nice and warm.
It did get discolored (soot type black) once when I really did a big fire but took a Mr Clean magic eraser to it the next day and it was like new again. Those work really good to clean it. Even took off some older grease from a hot dog my kids got on it.
Heat will do that to the metal itself also. Gray black blues and golden hue sometimes even. It's just a matter of physics sometimes. But it's still solid :)
@@ACSOFox30 , thanks. They had both on sale when we went there yesterday. We were tempted by the larger one, but another RUclipsr mentioned that in order to get them to be "smokeless", you need to have the barrel fairly full of active fire (to heat up that cylinder), which is harder to do with a 30" diameter burn barrel. We went with the smaller one and will see how well it fits our needs. I was pining for one of those fancy Breeo pits, but those are a significant investment, so this MM one will give us a feel for how big of a pit we need (and only cost $180 on sale).
@@pauladams9313 yes the more you get the fire spread around the entire pit the less smoke! I have found that to be true as well. I hope it serves your needs!
I will say I am not sure it is stainless, but it looks like it. I have used it a lot since this video and powder coating is still good. That part is double walled so I don’t think it gets the heat directly.
The powder coated parts are not stainless, kind of disappointing.. the bowl is also not double lined stainless, it uses the powder coated panels as the second layer.
I would say it’s about the same as a normal fire pit. Most of the time I am backing up because it is so hot. If you keep it fed with wood it puts out a good bit of heat.
Could the base hold enough weight to cook a cast iron dutch oven style meal in the bottom? OR are the 2 catch pans in the bottom not meant to hold weight?
I may be confused about your question but the legs can hold weight. I have but a large grill across it and cooked over it. It was tricky but doable. Not sure what catch pans you are referring to.
@@ACSOFox30 I believe there are two ash tray catch pans underneath where the wood burns...I could be wrong. So those layers down inside I was curious if they could hold the weight of a Dutch oven pot/lid down inside to cook with. Thanks again!
@@marcusl594 yes I absolutely think that will hold the weight. I have made (and usually make) my fires a reverse fire with several logs on bottom then a few more on that cross ways then smaller wooed then kindling and then twigs and it can handle the weight no problems.
Yes it is about 6 inches off the ground and no heat under it. Edited to add that my only concern would be hot embers popping out, but I would have the same concerns with any fire pit on a composite deck

Thanks for the review! Saw it at Sams on sale but wasn’t sure if it really worked. This was very helpful!

You will love it. I am enjoying my fire pit tonight!
Thanks for the review thinking of getting 1 really help
Thanks for the review! Couldn’t find one of it actually being used. I’ll probably pick one up now. #backtheblue

I have not tried that but I know that lip gets very hot.
Thank you!!
Can the rim be used as a cooking sear plate? Looks big enough. Thanks! Great Video.

Do you think this would be usable with pellets? Are the holes in the tray too large for them?
I have never dealt with pellets but based on what I have seen they would fall into the holes in the bottom.
How bad does the top outer ring get discolored? Can it be cleaned? Thanks for the video, Todd.
It did get discolored (soot type black) once when I really did a big fire but took a Mr Clean magic eraser to it the next day and it was like new again. Those work really good to clean it. Even took off some older grease from a hot dog my kids got on it.

Did you get the 36" XL size or the normal 20- or 25-inch size? Judging by comparison to the tiles and chair, seems like it's not 36"
I have the 25 inch. They did not sell the XL when I bought mine.

I wonder if the powder coating will burn off? Are you sure the dark part is stainless? They call it some kind of other metal, thanks

@@ACSOFox30 thank you! What about the pavers below? Do they get super hot or tarnished?
@@ryanleventhal3307 no the pavers do not get hot. Below the rim is double walled and does get hot but not enough to heat the pavers.
Thank you for great video. How has it last you for the last few years? Is it falling apart? Or it’s still strong?
It is still in great shape. I used it a few weeks ago. No rust or any issues.

Does it put off good heat? I've heard the smokeless firepits don't keep you warm.
Yes it does keep you warm. When you keep feeding it the fire extends over the top and will make you back up a little.

Hi is this the extra large model or the regular 20.5 size model
This is the 20.5” model. They didn’t sell the larger one when I purchased mine.
Would it be safe on a composite deck?

Good (sniff) review. I like (sniff) the burning (sniff) of logs (sniff) at different(sniff) stages. Good (sniff) job. Thanks(sniff)
Lol! I got a bloody nose half way through filming and was trying to keep it from running out!
So is it worth it
I think so, yes. They now have a bigger model out which also cost a good bit more. I am not sure it would be worth it.
How hot does the outside of that get? We don’t want a kid to get hurt in accident.
That stainless rim around the top does get very hot and would burn small hands!
The brown part below that is double walled and doesn’t get hot but the top rim definitely does get very hot.
