I just did the same kind of restoration on an early 80's York Olympic bench. Sanded and Refinish all the metal.
But the Pad ( Red with York logo on it ) was all original and in Pristine condition. No rips ! I'm really happy how it came out. What would you think it could go for on E-bay ?
That sounds like a great project! A bench on eBay would be tough. I can’t imagine shipping costs would be worth it, and pickup only really limits potential buyers. Unfortunately, a lot of people favor modern benches over the vintage benches. But I’ve seen people that love getting an older one for various reasons. Maybe try your local used market (Facebook, Craigslist) first and see how it goes. See how much other used benches are going for in your area.

I almost had one months back.
A near miss? That’s stinks. I missed a couple. I got this one as part of a joint pickup shared between myself and another collector. He got a York arm blaster and I kept the preacher stand. I’d like to find a blue York arm blaster eventually!

Do you have the York barbell 4 course booklet from the 1950s. I have modern version it’s almost the same thing but the info page is cut down significantly. If you have it could send pictures of the pages ?
