    What an informative video, you are excellent at explaining the difference between male and female Lovebirds. Thank you.

  • @Furnus105

    If these all dont work for you, dont be afraid. They can be physically identical to us and still be different sexes. There can also be signs of them being both male and female in any lovebird. Also, two males can be a couple, and two females can be a couple. This is why its popular to send feathers in for analysis. Another way to know if they are male or female: Wait to see if there are eggs.

    I've been looking this up and this is the best explanation I found (both on video and as text)
    Thanks a ton!!
    Just one question
    How old should my lovebird be before I can tell its gender?

    They are called, "Pelvic bones" or the "Pelvic area" - but the bones in that area are called, the "Pelvis" (which is a noun).

    Cool video. Still not sure about the magnet... have you tried tying the string and magnet to some where that is more stacked than your hand and see if there will be any movement once the magnet stops moving.

    I suspect that the presence of Your (male) hand may have thrown off that last test. I would try it again with Your hand under the bird, or wrapped in a towel or glove & then see how the magnet reacts. I sure am learning a lot. Really appreciate You sharing Your wisdom. Namaste 🙏 and Thank You !!

    I just get 2 yellow love birds they are identical, but thanks to this excellent video I know now which is the female and which one is the male, One of my birds is a little bigger and that one in particular has a little more aggressive behavior, now I can call her "she" because she tries to bite me, also when I took them out from the cage she is the more crazy running all over the cage, the male is more easy going and no bite, I feel sorry for him because she is drive him crazy all day long, bite him and bother him a lot, Thanks for this great Video

    • @whirwick
      @whirwick  4 года назад +1

      thanks walter! 😊
      by the way, do they have the same age? if the male is younger, try to separate him or put some divider on the cage. she might kill him. let them get used to each other before putting them together. but if you have spacious cage, it's alright then. hens are bullies. 😊

    • @whirwick
      @whirwick  4 года назад +1

      is it their first time to breed? there are many factors why they do that. they may be too young for breeding, atleast it must be over a year old. or they are stressed or got spooked by predators like cats or rodents, or the cage location has lots of human traffic. and dont look to check the eggs everytime.
