If these all dont work for you, dont be afraid. They can be physically identical to us and still be different sexes. There can also be signs of them being both male and female in any lovebird. Also, two males can be a couple, and two females can be a couple. This is why its popular to send feathers in for analysis. Another way to know if they are male or female: Wait to see if there are eggs.
I've been looking this up and this is the best explanation I found (both on video and as text) Thanks a ton!! Just one question How old should my lovebird be before I can tell its gender?
Cool video. Still not sure about the magnet... have you tried tying the string and magnet to some where that is more stacked than your hand and see if there will be any movement once the magnet stops moving.
I learned a lot from this, Thank you very much. Marami akong natutunan dito, Maraming salamat. Daghan ang akong nakat-unan gikan niini, Daghang salamat. Damo nga salamat.
I suspect that the presence of Your (male) hand may have thrown off that last test. I would try it again with Your hand under the bird, or wrapped in a towel or glove & then see how the magnet reacts. I sure am learning a lot. Really appreciate You sharing Your wisdom. Namaste 🙏 and Thank You !!
Cool video! I am new to lovebirds, I have a pair, but they don’t seem to be breeding. I am going to use your method to see if they are 2 different sexes.
thanks. make sure to provide a nestbox and nesting materials to encourage them to breed. the hen will do the construction of the nest. while the cock will just play with the nesting materials.
BIRDIOLOGY my lovebirds have been together over a year and have a nestbox but still not breeding. he shreds paper all the time & is very cage& food bowl & nestbox protective. shes real calm & doesnt seem too interested in breeding. she was still young when i adopted her. thank you for this video. it helped a lot.
If I send pic you can help me to identify it is male or female. I have checked their pelvic bones ,the distance between them is nearer and sharp. I am cleared that they both are male but I not satisfied. My what's up number is 7587415022. If I send pic of birds, you can help out of this problem
this video is insane really helpfull but i am still doubting it. when perching feets are far apart but with the color mutations my lovebird has. dark green on its wings stomach is light green near its head its yellow/orange ish and green again and its tail blue
Sir I have albino black ring eye pair. They done there nesting so what is the activity if both females. I observe that my other birds usually male feed female . So if both are females is they exchange feed?
I just get 2 yellow love birds they are identical, but thanks to this excellent video I know now which is the female and which one is the male, One of my birds is a little bigger and that one in particular has a little more aggressive behavior, now I can call her "she" because she tries to bite me, also when I took them out from the cage she is the more crazy running all over the cage, the male is more easy going and no bite, I feel sorry for him because she is drive him crazy all day long, bite him and bother him a lot, Thanks for this great Video
thanks walter! 😊 by the way, do they have the same age? if the male is younger, try to separate him or put some divider on the cage. she might kill him. let them get used to each other before putting them together. but if you have spacious cage, it's alright then. hens are bullies. 😊
In another vídeo it says the female have rounded heads and males have an almost block or flat head 🤔 would you please let me know what else to look for. Thank you
I have a pair of bird but they do not hatch the egg, and they would only break the egg after several days. what should i do for them to hatch the egg. Thank you.
is it their first time to breed? there are many factors why they do that. they may be too young for breeding, atleast it must be over a year old. or they are stressed or got spooked by predators like cats or rodents, or the cage location has lots of human traffic. and dont look to check the eggs everytime.
This is the best help I have found online without a test being done. Thank you! You are awesome !
What an informative video, you are excellent at explaining the difference between male and female Lovebirds. Thank you.

Maybe the best explanation on how to know the gender of our beloved birds🙏🙏🙏
They are called, "Pelvic bones" or the "Pelvic area" - but the bones in that area are called, the "Pelvis" (which is a noun).

yes, you can tie it on a stick and clamp it if you have shaky hands. 😊
Is this 100% accurate? I tried it seems like it is.. what's the science behind it?
