2 TIPS for Raspberries

2 simple tips for raspberries:
1. keep the roots insulated against extremes. Hot and cold weather are hard on raspberry roots. I use leaf and grass mulch to place a layer of insulation over the roots.
2. tie the canes up to a lateral wire (near the top of the cane) so that it has lots of support!

Do you cut your raspberries back every year or do you just let them grow more or or less wild?

Great question - I typically trim the tops / tips of the canes to a fairly uniform height.
Two reason:
1) i want to stimulate growth / fruiting on the lower portion of the cane.
2) i want to fasten / tie the top of the cane to a horizontal wire to secure the top.
