Excellent review my friend. I bought this game many years ago for $2.00 and I figured I would try it out at that price. I instantly enjoyed every minute of this game. I never got around to beating the game, but I do plan to return to it soon. I even bought the strategy guide for this game as I wanted to make sure I found every secret and explored the entire world. This game definitely got passed over by a lot of people over the years. If you just looked at it based on the games case, you might think it's just some crappy knock off 3rd person hack & slash title that's not worth playing, but you would be wrong. The 6th gen was a special time in gaming when companies would take risks on new IPs and we received a lot of games like Draconus Cult of the Wyrm at the time, it's sad that we don't really see that many AA games in 9th gen gaming. Keep up the great work on your channels bro.
I had this game back then, tried it a bit but realized it was a big game and i dunno, told myself ill get back to it later, never did :( Sold my DC at some point in 2014. But hey it was nice seeing you review it and tell me more about it.
Definitely a favorite title on the system for me! I picked it up in a used game store some years back, going on nothing but the cover art and the pictures on the back. The combo system was a lot more robust and intuitive than I was expecting, the environments and level design was (mostly) well beyond what I was expecting. I remember reading an article saying something about having two publishers and neither wanted to pay for this and that so the end of the game got rushed and it really shows. I would've loved a sequel!
This is one of my top 10 dreamcast games. You no touch my shiney lol. I actually still use that line in real life to tell people not to touch my stuff lol
I played Die by the Sword on PC back then! Glad to see someone brought some light to the "franchise"!! And yes, DbtS felt a bit like an early Dark Souls even more than Crusader of M&M and Rune :3
The Save feature sucks, you can only do a true save by completing a level. The Set Mark option does not save to the VMU so gets erased when you turn off the Dreamcast.
Thank you for reviewing it, had no idea that a call duty developer made it, its the game that existed deep in my mind never could find until just gonna watch video about all dreamcast Games there it was was finally its been 20+ years so had to look for review so now I'm here 😂

George Takei and Tony Jay!! This is probably my second or third most favorite Dreamcast game. Only other game that I know that's easily accessible that's similar to this is Enclave.
Yes I've heard of Draconus because I do also own the game. Need to go back through because I never did finish it. I remember doing a glitch at the very beginning of the game Id fall off a waterfall but wouldn't die? Most of the time falling off high places will end in death.🙂
I did not encounter the waterfall glitch. I did manage to drown myself many times when trying to wade into the water. There are unexpected deep parts, and they are very hard to get out of.
I am surprised you didn't mention 'Die By The Sword' made by Treyarch. Both games have a similar setting. And the fact that you did not include the name of the game in the title makes it harder for people to find your review while searching for this game.
Thanks for watching. This game is a spiritual sequel to Die by the Sword. Why not mention it in the review? Because the review is not meant to present every bit of knowledge about the game. I could easily stretch it out to an hour, but I have to cut things off at some point. Also, this review does come up on search. Feel free to try it. I don't expect people to be searching for this game though, since most don't know about it.
I never got to beat this game cuz it always crashed in the same spot on the 3rd or 4th level. It drove me crazy cuz the disc was in near perfect condition.
So this game just messed up my Dreamcast. Heres how it happened. In the 4th Level after you get off the area with the steam pipes. A nasty loud sound started mixing up with the sounds of a minotaur and a Goblin. When i jumped off a ledge into a vent heading down. I went to go fight them then i noticed my disc drive started going crazier than usual when running this game. So I decided to pause it and it froze for a bit. So then I unpaused it and after a bit it did so. I moved forward a bit toward another location nearby after the disc drive sounded like it was calming down and decided to check my map. After that it froze my system completely. I tried reseting using the button combo and it didn’t work. I tried taking the disc out and it brought me back to the menu. I thought it was fine now so i put it back in. When I did the TV kept saying there is no video signal being sent and its stuck like this now. When theres a disc inside it refuses to send a video signal to the tv and the disc doesn’t spin anymore. When there isn’t a disc it does the same thing but then it resets and takes me to the main menu. Luckily I have another Dreamcast but I kind of don’t want to try this game again on that system.
@@ugoewulonu4936 Before that No. It worked flawlessly. About a year and a half ago I put silicon grease on the rails of the laser so it would be easier for it to move around and it worked great for every game I put in it so far. Although I noticed that ever since I started playing this game. The laser was going into overdrive or something. Like for Draconus specifically it had to work harder than any other game i’ve put in before. Kind of like what Eternal Darkness and the twin snakes does to the GCN. You know how usually the laser moves for a bit and then stops until it needs to load something else? It never stopped moving unless I paused the game. Even if I wasn’t moving in game the laser kept making noises showing that it was doing it’s job. I also noticed the music in game kept switching a lot as i moved to different spots on the map. A few days ago I saw a comment on here that said their system crashed on the 3rd or 4th level. I checked it myself and he was right. Its the fourth level except I didn’t expect it to do this much damage to my DC. I think it either did something to the drive or the Power or possibly both. I’m not sure which because the spindle is the only thing that doesn’t move which tells me its the drive but when removing the GD-Drive and turning the system on. The consoles turned off after a second. I did it again and it did the same thing. The Third time it didn’t turn off strangely enough. My bad for so much text. This just really sucks. Probably need a new power supply. Might look into getting a TO-Mode too at this point.
If you really want to help put some eyes on this forgotten game, you should just write its name in your title and use a screen cap from the game as the video preview pic. Otherwise being coy and mysterious only exacerbates the problem, don't you think?
@@HowToX, Even if someone does find it by searching "Draconus" they still wouldn't know to click on it because there's no indication that it's a Draconus video. I almost skipped the video for just that reason, but only ended up clicking on a whim because I was already familiar with your channel. An interesting/informative looking screen cap can go a long way toward getting people to click on a video IMO, but it's your channel of course.
Somehow this guy didn't mention Die By The Sword, the game that came before this, the game that Draconus is a spiritual successor to? For shame. Hope you played the OG one at some point or another, it's just as great as Draconus if not better ^^
It was a 'Die by the Sword' unofficial sequel. A unique PC game where you independently commanded combat and movement. That game, also by Treyarch, was kinda fun despite terrible reviews. It has a cult following. This Dreamcast game though was trash and as generic as it gets.

@@HowToX Yeah, I see what you mean but you still managed mention Call Of Duty lol. Anyways nice review, cheers!
I never got to beat this game cuz it always crashed in the same spot on the 3rd or 4th level. It drove me crazy cuz the disc was in near perfect condition.
Do you remember the area where it crashed on you? Did your system still work after that?
This game was cool because it was like the unofficial sequel to death trap dungeon that I always wanted.
Love this game, never beat it though.
It's kinda weird that Divinity II: Ego Draconus is also one of my favorite games ever made; maybe Draconus is a good luck charm in the name, lol.
I thought I heard Mr Sulu.
Yea man i fuckn loved this game when i had it back in the day. The original souls game
That game is so fn hard on the later levels.I could never beat it.....
Good review.
love this
А как работает vmu в этой игре ? Я видел в меню строку " vmu sound" что она означает?
People ask what Fable would look and feel like on the Dreamcast. Draconus is the answer to that.
😎
When I set a mark in the game it freezes every time. Does that happen to anyone else?
That didn't happen to me. Are you using an emulator?
@@HowToX No it’s a legit copy of the game. I’m wondering if there’s a problem with this copy of the game or my Dreamcast.
@@ThatOldSchoolMagic Ok, well that makes me nervous about continuing the game. Had your Dreamcast given you any problems before that?

Before that No.
From what I can tell, the game has a 60fps cap but struggles to meet it.
It might work in 60fps in RetroArch.
the shear girth of it all
Great game...
This was the best dreamcast game as good as any xbox 360
If you really want to help put some eyes on this forgotten game, you should just write its name in your title and use a screen cap from the game as the video preview pic. Otherwise being coy and mysterious only exacerbates the problem, don't you think?
People don't search for games they don't know about. If they do search on the game's name, they still find this video anyway.
Quit shaming the reviewer.
@@HowToX xD
It was a 'Die by the Sword' unofficial sequel. A unique PC game where you independently commanded combat and movement. That game, also by Treyarch, was kinda fun despite terrible reviews. It has a cult following. This Dreamcast game though was trash and as generic as it gets.
My best experience on the Dreamcast was Resident Evil Code Veronica

🐱🐱🐱🐱🐈🐈🐈 did I get that right? 7 cats? Or was it six🤔
Thanks!
Thank you!
You sir need more viewers, but more importantly more dreamcast videos. Might I recomend shadowman or omikron
