Mario Fabrizi as the previous Uncle Bunny. One former collaborator Hancock never discarded: MF is also the expresso bar owner in 'The Rebel' and the beach photographer in 'The Punch and Judy Man', promising 'memories to cherish'. Alas, he had melancholia in common with his patron. Both killed themselves.
Proof - if it were needed that Tony could work and did work with other writers - this show is as good as and better than many of the BBC series - the series needs to be assessed - from the first scene with the dress to the final shot - this is one of the great Hancocks and deserves to be remembered as such
Story by Ray Whyberd, better known as Ray Alan, the vent behind 'Lord Charles'. Script by Terry Nation, progenitor of Dr Who's Daleks. Does not match up to Galton and Simpson, though. Hancock wanted to become less parochial in appeal, as he saw it. So less of the 'stone me' and 'punch up the bracket' East Cheam lingo and more Chaplinesque visual laughs. He is almost wordless for the first six minutes. OTOH his ambition to become an international name could have been a rationalization of his difficulty in remembering his lines after his car accident; you can see his eyes flickering round the set for the 'idiot board' cue cards posted discreetly there.
The dummy scene at the beginning of the episode is funny as hell, and you can tell the audience agrees. Outside of Steptoe and Son G & S were hardly knockingit outof the park themselves. There are two sides to every story and forme this series is proof positive that Hancock was just as good without Galton and Simpson.
Adrienne Poster, later 'Posta', as 'Little Girl'. Soon to become a cheeky cockney 'dolly bird' in such films as 'To Sir, With Love' and 'Up the Junction', but she could not sustain her career when the Swinging Sixties passed. Una Stubbs fared better.
I agree the Radio episodes of HHH are the absolute best but the Television version was also pretty great - this ATV series was nowhere near the level of his BBC stuff
The Blood Donor, The Missing Page, The Bed Sitter. IMHO there were several episodes of the television show that matched the radio series. Especially with the Missing Page there were sequences that relied on physical comedy that couldn't be relayed on radio.
It's good, but in my opinion doesn't match G & S 's scripts. After the accident he wasn't the same, eyes looking around for the idiot boards was never a good look 😢
@@MarkHarrison733 No. He started using idiot. boards during the making of The Blood Donor. But only according to interviews with everyone who was around at the time. Galton and Simpson. Duncan Wood. June Whitfield etc. but if you know different.😂😂
So much talent, but ultimately so self destructive Quality of the writing is far below G&S scripts Sad to see his eyes, following the idiot boards, for his lines
As talented as Hancock was the scripts by Galton and Simpson were perfect for him. This ITV series floundered up against Steptoe and Son on the BBC. This script is very average.
Featuring two 'Number Twos' from 'The Prisoner', Kenneth Griffith and Patric Cargill.
sadly the script is also #2

Plenty of sound from where I am viz, Hastings, New Zealand.
I can't hear it here in Hastings, East Sussex.
Absolutely silent in Winnipeg, Canada. The clip that is, not myself.
It was silent on my phone until I plugged headphones in then I got sound
This isn't By Galton and Simpson. This is from Hancock 's ITV series.
And it isn't 'Hancock's Half Hour' either.
yes - as I understand it there were a number of writers attached to this series
And it shows. Woeful script.
We can tell - G & S scripts’ were hilarious, this is pedestrian in comparison
@@regwatson2017 Terry Nation, Inventer of Dr Who
This man…is a genius….!!!
Tony always good but sorry missing the brilliance of Galton & Simpson. Still, great 2 c. Thank u
It is indeed a very funny show

Why on earth is this episode on the site when there is no sound??
I just had to turn volume to max, was ok
Me too
I have no sound
There was sound on the down load
No audio?
It's not really a sitcom script this one. It's a handful of slapstick routines cobbled together.

Don't hear anything. I turned all the way up
No sound😮
Like all his work after he moronically dumped Ray and Alan, this is as funny as a mysterious dark spot on a routine chest X-ray.

I think Mr Hancock was absolutely brilliant, but on the radio, not sure his skills transferred to television or the big screen:
