Holy shit, I just realized that the mirror scene in Nerves reminds me of the mirror scene in Nightcrawler and now I hate myself for not connecting those 2 in the first place argh!!! Anyway! As always, these are just my thoughts and interpretation of the MVs, nothing more. If I managed to make any sense, let me know, if you want to add something feel free to do so in the comment section, much love guys!
14:54 The costume he had at the end (elevator scene) was the same outfit (plus a blazer) he was wearing on the teaser of his other song, "Welcome to the show." Christian said in his documentary that Welcome to the Show is like the 'grand entrance for the acceptance of who MITO is'. So Scaredy Cat is like a prelude to Welcome to The Show. The former was more about his fears and anxieties to what's happening around him (and probably what could happen because of MITO existing) and the latter was about acceptance that he'll just have to co-exist with MITO. Too bad Welcome to the show doesn't have an MV, but the teaser's so freaking good too!
I feel like Mito is more like Klaus here, from the umbrella academy. He is basically saying he's not a monster, he's only scared, while being a total diva of course. 😂
When I think about it Scaredy Cat feels like a representation of Christian “dipping”. Christian being locked up while Mito is taking over, everything still in color until Christian finally dips. Then everything is in black and white and Christian is fully temporarily hidden while Mito is the host/forefront. It’s almost as if the entire song is Mito saying to Christian “you’re scared, trust me, you’re scared. I’m scared, we’re scared. I can take care of this” and he binds Christian up to stop him from facing those fears. Rather than overcoming, he takes over so that Christian does not feel that fear.
Christian is not religious but Mito is. My interpretation is that Mito was the one who was in love. One blind eye stands for Mito and black and white too. At the end the text was: I loved you. He loved you. And in the last scene you can see Mito. I love this song and DPR Ian! ❤❤❤
omg I love your interpretation because your always so on point as someone who also struggles with a mental health disorder I can always relate to your words as you look deeper and understand what Ian is trying to explain through this art and I love that also the continuation of scaredy cat is “welcome to the show” MV its on the shorter side if you want to check it out next! Also yes in some songs when he talks about a love interests like in nerves he is talking about his experience with someone he was with and his struggles of dealing with his mental health in the relationship your on point !
Those references you see, your analysis and everything... I'm just enjoying these reactions to Ian's mastermind so much. Like a lot of people are like "yeah, nice song, amazing visuals, ok", but you just go deeper and it's so fascinating to listen to your thoughts. I don't know if you watched Memories In Disorder, a short documentary movie about MITO, but I'd really like to see your reaction.
Please react to “Welcome to the Show!” The ending of “Scaredy Cat” connects directly to that music video just like “So Beautiful” and “No Blueberries.” That is something you will start to notice with Christian. He is so meticulous and clever
-I vibe to this song and lyrics in such a huge way. I have depressive episodes and take a few different medications for it but there are times when I don’t want to or I feel like I’m crazy but on the outside I look perfectly fine. DPR IAN is releasing new music soon “peanut butter and tears” I really can’t wait
I loved ur reaction! DPR IAN is also one of my favourite artists and I am so excited for his next single ... I don't know if u have already seen the teaser with the song ballroom extravaganza ... it's just a short viedeo but it's totally worth it and the song is full of energy and emotions so I recommand it :)
You have to check out his latest album. There's a song or two on that album confirms that he indeed lose a relationship because of his struggles with bipolar. The storytelling of DPR albums are honestly immaculate!
the song that follows is ant the end is: Stay for the show when Ian is in black n white , you need to listen to it, is really special, makes me crey every time!
I'm really regretting not seeing him perform in Orlando last year. I think your theory is really interesting. Around the same time that he released these he was collaborating with CL. See the MV for CL's *5 Star*. And she was the girl in No Blueberries. Their chemistry through those and other appearances together. Inspired a lot of people to jump to the conclusion that they were dating....
i really love his 2 albums : créativity, music, visual and his voice...and my summer song of 2021 until now, it's dpr live, hwasa and beenzino "hula hoops"
16:59 that's a good question. in an interview, it was said that he wasn't really religious. maybe spiritual? I don't really know anything more about it.
@@ikhebdieishetnietgoeddathe4057 I mean - yeah but he grew up in australia which actually also has quite a lot of religious people. south korea is much less religious, actually. but anyways. at least in that interview, it was said that he wasn't raised really religious.
This is 1 year later but whatever XD. He did grow up in a christian household, but he himself is not very religious. However, i know that he has said in an interview that MITO is very biblical and very in tune with religion . That is also why MITO is portrayed as a fallen angel and used to be a seraph or archangel (im not quite sure which one it is, cause he has said both). The lyrics to the songs MITO have written, like MITO and Seraph also sound very almost otherworldly/ god like?? idk how to explain the sound But he has also said that the cross has always kind of been a symbol to fight off something dark for him. Thats why he often wears a cross necklace. Another fun note is: we know that Ian is short for Christian and we always see the Visuals +Ian in the music videos. its not a plus sign but rather a cross, representing Christ. So Christ + Ian = Christian. Anyways that what i know about the cross
About scaredy-cat Actually half of music video is in reverse. I wish you would notice that cause I really wanted to know your thoughts about its reason. And nerves Christian has talked about this song in one of his live streams. He said he's thankful that people loved the song, but also afraid he might not be able to write sth like that cause it was a genuine song about a real break up he went through. So yea there was actually a girl!
I'm curious what the train track in "Nerves" represents. Out of the other images that have popped up in IAN's videos, this one stumps me. The fading on the corner makes me think it's about Christian being consumed by darkness or MITO or his BPD as it develops, but I've never sold myself on that idea... but I don't know. Maybe some all-seeing eye will tell me. EDIT: Maybe it's meant to represent light vs. dark? The idea that one can't exist without the other? IAN & MITO living in tandem with one another? I have no clue.

I always find it fascinating how much you can analyze all the details in the video from the first watch. 👏🏻👏🏻

Wow you’re good. I’ve noticed that too… End bit of So Beautiful also linked to No Blueberries So all of them are connected.
Wait.... Doesn't it? I think it actually does.
He does a music video for “Welcome to the Show”
Also that voice distortion is always used to signify that its Miito talking/singing in that moment

As someone who can relate to Christian's music and creativity...i love seeing you analysing and reacting to his stuff.
He creates just masterpieces! I love DPR gang!!! :(
From what I remember the girl fell in love with Mito (his alter ego) and not Ian

The deep dark voice you can hear in all his songs is MITO
