Thank you so much Georgia for your kind words for Jenny ! Although she doesn’t understand English in this video, she was beaming from ear to ear when she saw you in this video. She said to me.. “This cute ang mo! “ in mandarin! Lol
The cost of the altering was expensive! Also, its expected since it's at Holland V as the shops there are know n for their high charges. If u need alteration, i wld recommend those from the neighbourhood areas, that are under the blocks..
11:46 after only a few days in tier 3, London is now in tier 4 - which is a new tier essentially made up just for us. It’s basically full lockdown, we unfortunately can’t mix for Christmas as planned. The Singapore government seems to have much better control over the situation!
I read the newspaper that the new (mutated) variant there is up to 70% more transmissible and spreads faster. And that Netherlands has barred all entries from the UK for now.
ymhktravel The Netherlands isn’t handling the situation well either. Most people I see here don’t wear their masks outside even if the street is crowded (imo it’s fine if you’re outside and far from people). They also don’t actually wear masks properly (touching the outside of the masks frequently, wearing it like a chin diaper except when indoors, etc) and do it just to comply with the recent rules. It’s frustrating to see the numbers shoot up to 10k cases a day. Shops are closed too until end Jan.
Hi, just for your information she didn't charge you extra. My area at Redhill market, the shop is 1/4 the size of Jenny's is also charging around 20 plus per piece. She is very experienced that is why little communication is needed. Thanks a lot for introducing such an amazing shop. Now my sister have one more option to go to. 😁
My mum introduced me to a lady at Bugis Street (2nd floor) who charged me $18 (If I recall correctly) for more difficult alternations to a dress (cinching in the waist and some details at the top). I also got a pair of pants shortened for just $3-5 in Tampines at a very dark and rundown shop. I thought the uncle charged me wrongly but it was really that cheap
I got my length altered and shortened at the Bukit Timah market at $7-9 per piece. I think because it’s Holland village area that’s why too. If I altered my items at Far East plaza it’s easily $20+ per item
You should go to the suburbs which are not popular amongst expats such as Jurong West, Boon Lay to get your clothes altered. I spent $8 to take in the width of my pants.
For petite, yes that’s the usual price for altering clothes 😂 especially shortening dress/skirt with inner lining we need pay more to shorten both in & out. Many ppl suggested cheaper places, I tried both, do pay slightly more for good workmanship.
The alterations are quite expensive. I just altered a pair of jeans to take in both sides of the legs for $25, the tailor was in Far East plaza so can’t be cheap. Simple length alterations should not be more than $15, esp if there’s no lining. Love your videos btw!
The prices are reasonable for the alterations. There are cheaper tailors but you probably won't get a good fit. Am sure she spent many many years to perfect her skills. Such a lovely and cute auntie.
9:01 See that Crystal Jade over there? They have xiao long bao buffet (this little chinese dumpling with hot soup in it, squirts out when u bite it yum!!)
Great to see you that you are enjoying yourself staying in Singapore each day and i think the current cold weather temperature is just what you are wishing for in your previous channel. 😂😂
Georgia, $73 is really steep for 3 item alterations! I go to a lady in Telok Blangah and she does length alterations for $5-9, and waist/sizing alterations on jeans for $15-$20. I have a smaller waist and wider hips so I always need my jeans (including tough Levis denims) altered at the waist and she makes them look UNTOUCHED. She’s a gem and really good. Hit me up if you need the lobang!! (PS: Auntie Jenny is so cute and I’m Glad you trust her though ☺️😘)
There are lots of dress alteration 'aunties' all over, especially at HDB market shoplets. Don't know about dresses but when I lost weight a couple of years ago from 85kgs to 74kgs, I got my long pants waist altered for about SG $8 each. Ask around the HDB folks near where you live. You could save a bundle. Yes, use maximum Singlish to get 'local' rates.
Omg hi-5 Georgia we have the same birthday!!! 🥳 Been watching your videos and loving them because I’m a Singaporean who moved to Australia, it’s nice to see bits of home through your vlogs 💕
Also this lady seems great! But I think other areas might have more affordable options too, can consider Tekka Market 2nd floor or other places in Little India as alternatives.
alteration is a little expensive here in singapore, there are cheaper shop out there, but it just like 5 dollars cheaper per piece, but if you are comfortable with the person and she understand you much more, i think is worth to be abit expensive
Good video, enjoyed it lots. Germany is locked down until... ? Looking forward to doing *anything* or visiting _anyone_ _anywhere_ 🤣 Won't go first for the vaccine - I've seen what happened to Will Smith in "I am Legend" 😉🙂👍
holland village is one of the atas places in singapore where rich people live. so naturally the price for things are much higher than hdb neighbourhood alteration shops which cost few bucks for a piece of clothes.
well, 2 more day after you posted this , we will see what is the result. tbh, it is expensive, but some people have hard time finding a good tailor. considering the language barrier and she getting what you like... that's priceless. have a good one on your retro party, stay safe and protected.
Your Singlish is good. Sounds like a Singaporean. $73 does sound a tad expensive but it may be the rental because clothes tailoring in the market is much cheaper. You feel cold? You are suited for tropical weather although u would lose out on the seasons
Dress will cost more than length of pants due to wider circumference. Dress with the lining will cost more than no lining. Pants alteration for size will also cost more than the usual length. Yes $73 is a tad on the ex side though not much. If she can do a good job with it then it’s fine imho.
$73 definitely too steep. hahaha but I think she's a natural at altering your clothes nicely. I altered the length of my jeans for $5 at a store by the side of a hawker.
Alterations prices depends on the piece of clothing you are altering. Some fabric maybe more expensive to alter and if there is lining and the complexity. But i think overall hdb alteration service is cheaper due to rent, but their workmanship may be questionable
It's hard to find a tailor shop now, i believe the price she quote is quite reasonable. The last time i got to fix a torn pocket for my favorite pant, the price is enough to get a new pair 😁😁😁
sumit6190p it’s cheap for multiple alterations. I used to think the same way but after I tried a few alterations myself, it’s completely worth it. It makes the clothe look 10 times more expensive as it’s fitting the body very well. Nowadays I prefer to buy discounted unfit clothe with good material and send for alterations. Try it, it’s very worth it!

You can get that done under $30 in HDB area. Holland village is expat district so it nore expensive because of high rental in this popular shopping center. Thats not so expensive lar, that will take 1 hour to alter all this cloth. So, I think that is reasonable. You should calculate per hour job and skill.
