Hi shizuka! I love your videos, the editing, the personality you have to show us how beautiful Japan is so that we give a chance to such a beautiful culture. I really like how you guide us in each video, more people should know this beautiful channel. I wanted to tell you to stay strong, healthy and that you are getting prettier and prettier, it shows what a good person you are. 🌹🌸
It's also my fave!! But also don't sleep on the cable car! It's got the steepest incline for a mountain railway in all of Japan so it's like a roller coaster if you stand at the very front when you go down 😆
Tokyo keeps surprising me, more exciting spots added to my list, I want to taste all of those foods and it looks like a lot of those bites feel like home, I need to experience the beautiful scenery as well
also the meat set looks amazing. we have western breeds all over colorados mountains and we devour a lot of it, but that japanese rancher craftsmanship is aces, and the way its branded and informatively shared is so friggin cool.
Having a meal on top of a mountain is always a special experience; this is especially true when you have a beer as well. Yes, I definitely plan on visiting this place.
Thanks for taking us to Mount Takao , your old stomping grounds and enduring the heat . Looks like you went mid week as the crowds appeared sparse especially at Mt. Takao Beer Mount. After a casual hike , definitely a treat to enjoy a quality meal at the end with the BBQ through #JapanByFood
These episodes keep getting better and better. I think I should have been born in Japan, everything about it really appeals to me. Thanks again Shizuka for sharing with us.
its japanese local ingredients of course but that really reminds me a HECK of a lot of the sorts of things we forage and hunt here in colorado. although we have Elk and Mule Deer which seem to be much larger than the stuff theyre hunting up there from my reading. There is a global familyhood among people who live in high mountains. we can feel the similiarities with one another even through the internet. Those people are my soul brothers and sisters. that really is a wonderful area.
We did it at the end of march.even without the heat it was not easy,I cannot imagine doing it in the summer! People, don't let the "easy trail" fool you, this is a proper workout!😂
Loved this video. Takao is so beautiful! The Tenguyaki and Takaosan Cheese Tart looked delicious to eat. I also agree that a nice cold draft beer also hits the spot during summer!
Aah!! A Mt. Takao episode!! I've always wanted to go there for a long time since I read about it in tour books and mangas, especially "Hachiouji Meibutsu: Tengu no Koi" by Tsukizuki Yoshi (lovely cute manga by the way 🥰🥰). All the food and place look so good, especially the cute Tengu-themed ones, so fitting with the mountain's theme 👺👺 I'll go there in two modes, one in casual hike, the second in full trail running mode. Maybe a tengu and a big white wolf will show up just like in the manga 🤣🤣😂😂 No cool jacket today for Shizuka-nee, but lovely all-blue and running shoes make a great sporty combination for the summer hike ☺️☺️ P.S: 04:43 a special permission to enjoy both Dango and Coffee inside? 😶😶
Yes! If you buy the dango on the first floor of the cafe (where the soba restaurant is), they will let you eat inside because the dango stand and soba shop are actually the same restaurant! The cafe upstairs is a separate business and you should technically only eat/drink cafe goods upstairs, but I asked if it was okay to bring it down and they let me! :)
@@ShizukaAnderson thankies for the info, Shizuka-nee. I'll keep that in mind when visiting that place 😊😊 Ahahah, no probs!! The weather's rough here too. 34°C with almost 45% humidity during the day. AC and hydration are my best friends right now 😵💫😵💫 Don't forget to stay hydrated, Shizuka-neesan 😉😉
DAAAAANGGG! Didnt know that there was a beer garden there.... if we only knew. Hiked there last yr, our mini warmup hike before Mt. Fuji via Shubashiri trail. Thanks for sharing, will be back and alam na this will be going to the beer stuff Lol
@@JapanbyFood go for Mt. Fuji! You guys have a year to prep 😁 and try having a gourmey meal in one of the huts bought before the start of the hike. Back in the Philippines, i bring precooked food for multi day hikes and yep, either beer or liqour
Always showing incredible places and great restaurants, very interesting! Last year I lived in Tokyo if I had known about these places maybe I would have stayed there a little longer. Nice trip 👍
Mount Takao was the highlight of our trip to Tokyo. I couldn't believe how easy it was to escape the crowds and immerse ourselves in Ghibli-like scenery with hardly anyone around. The day started with pouring rain, but as soon as we began walking, the sun came out, and I almost cried when I saw Mount Fuji from the summit. It was everything I wanted from my Japan trip. From the small, non-touristy restaurant near the station where we tasted mountain vegetables, to the magical forest and statues, and then accidentally discovering the most gorgeous hidden temple at one of the train stops with two 100s-year-old cherry blossom trees in full bloom on the way back. The whole scene looked like it was painted on a canvas, and again, there was no one else around. Anyone who has visited Tokyo during cherry blossom season will understand the significance of this.
My trip to Takao San included running up and down 3 times using different trails since it is not really hard ascent. Sadly it was March so none of the food was available aside from dango.
I've wanted to hike Mt Takao for awhile. I didn't know there was so much stuff up on top. I hope you rode back down after all that food. I would pass out after all that.
My friend loves to go Japan every year just to go mountain hiking. I'd love to go on a hike but a bit weary, this one looks very accesible and friendlier with great food at the end. I'll try this place the next time I visit Japan
Thank you, great video. I've been searching for a mountain trail hike in or near Tokyo that's accessible by train but came up empty handed. Will definitely do this next time! :)
Yes. I took the chairlift. I think they only have cable car now. Going to the onsen in Takaosanguchi station afterward is the best. Nice restaurant in the onsen too. Good beef tongue.
Hachioji! My hometown. Well, my Japanese hometown, considering it was the first city in Japan that I lived in. I've been to Takao-san a few times and hiking it in the summer can be tough. Man, I remember riding my bicycle to Hosei University to workout on their track before going to work. Exciting times as I got to meet some of Japan's track and field Olympic team members. A lifetime ago.
Smart move Shizzy with the cable car! I did the hike last year in August and commend you on surviving that heat in jeans. I was a little surprised you ordered a coffee instead of a beer at the top! You feeling OK? 😅
Loved this video... What train would we take from Tokyo station to Mount Takao? We will be visiting in Sept and would love to book the BBQ special. Thank You
Mt. Takao is my jet lag destroying hack. My favorite flight to Japan departs after midnight in Los Angeles, meaning I can maximize vacation time and work the day I depart and I’ll be nice and tired to sleep on the plane, and arrive at Haneda at 5am. I first head to the major station nearest my hotel and put my luggage into a coin locker and then head for Mt. Takao. Being so early means there is hardly anyone on the mountain yet and it is very peaceful. Being out in the daylight and active that early, and having such a long day to tire me out really pushes me into local time.
