      Sleep when the baby sleeps and if a task/chore takes less than one minute to finish, do it immediately. The last one isn't really parenting advice, but helped make the end of the day clean up quicker, so you can get in bed sooner.
      Also don't be quiet when she's napping and she will learn to sleep through anything.

    This brings back so many magical memories. Yes it is tiring, yes you do have 'whose the most exhausted' competitions with your partner but it passes, you get into a routine and they sleep longer at night and you get back to normal. Enjoy it because these are the memories you will treasure in old age.

    • @itsblitzzz

      lol the "most exhausted competitions".........those are definitely a thing 😂😂😂

    • @shanandananscoo
      @shanandananscoo Год назад

      Thought this was a funny comment, I don't recall every having that contest. Ha! I knew that I was more exhausted than any other parent I knew (friends/family/coworkers), but I didn't try to convince anyone of that LOL.
      I definitely never had those with my partner-- Maybe that is one blessing of having a one stay at home parent. Since I was going to work, my sleep during the night got a lot of priority. (Although I was still night nursing for 2 years LOL)

    Best advice I've ever seen is there was a poor poor mom on TikTok who was having a rough go with a colicky baby. She was a mess. Basically having a breakdown. You just wanted to hug her through the screen. Several people recommended something called "Windy" or "Windi". She made a video a few days later and the difference was INTENSE. She was happier, baby was happier, it was amazing. So if colic becomes something really bad, that's my best advice.

    This made me miss the newborn stage so much. And I agree 100% with what you said in the beginning. When I was pregnant I swore I wouldn't do this or that, especially cosleeping. My daughter was about 2ish months old when I finally caved and started cosleeping. She would never sleep more than 30 minutes in her bassinet, and at night if she did sleep longer than that *I* wouldn't sleep at all because I'd constantly be up and watching her breathe. One night I tried it and it was the first night since I had had her that I got more than a cat nap in, plus being able to just lay on my side in the middle of the night and feeding her I feel genuinely saved my sanity. You guys are doing amazing, and motherhood looks beautiful on you. 💗

    I gave up dairy for the first few months of breastfeeding as well, and was able to reintroduce it slowly back into my diet at about 6 months. My firstborn is now 20 and he has no food allergies. I also raised 2 kids without ever owning a crib: we practiced safe cosleeping and learning to nurse laying down was literally life changing!!! We all got sooooo much more sleep! Funny that you had such incredible thirst - I don’t remember feeling that, although I did drink a lot to remain hydrated. For me, the *instant my son would latch on, I would be overcome with the need to sleep! Enjoy your sweet Honor and congratulations again. You and Nick both look so happy!!!

    Take heart, colic does go away on its own and the time varies with the baby. The first month or two are the hardest and it gets easier and the baby miraculously turns into a little person with an endearing personality. Nothing compares to having a child.

    Another favorite bit of advice: Attend a few La Leche League meetings. For many its an amazing way to meet likeminded parents and share mother-to-mother support. Granted if you prefer "Ferber" to "attachment", then this would not be a useful tip.

    Congratulations to you both! She is so adorable! 😍 I have a three year old and she's amazing! This reminded me of her newborn stages.. my tips...
    1. Keep a kit in the car (wipes, outfit, socks, burp cloths) I do this now and she's 3 just in case I forget to restock her diaper bag due to mommy brain lol
    2. Buy the reusable bib with the pocket to catch food
    3. Keep your boobs and body hydrated. I had trouble breastfeeding due to thyroid issues but it's less painful if your skin isn't dry
    4. Keep taking prenatal vitamins to help with hair loss
    5. Pick your favorite thing to do alone and make sure you do it weekly.... to preserve your sanity. It's easy to get swept up into being everything to your little one and neglecting yourself. You're at your best for them when you take time to take care of you. 😘

    I had a baby 7 months ago, and I’m remembering the early days as you go through them! For the baby acne or eczema you describe-if it’s baby acne, I found that Tubby Todd all over ointment helped. However, my son had the cow’s milk sensitivity too, so his face rash/bumps were a reaction to that. After a few weeks of me going dairy free in my diet (and switching any formula supplementations to hypoallergenic formula), his skin cleared. Good luck, you’re doing great!

    The best advice I have is to wash any baby clothes stained with breastmilk or baby poo in hot water (to break down the fats) and then skip the dryer & line dry in direct sun. The sun oxidizes the stains & it's seriously like magic watching the them disappear! I wish I would have learned this way earlier on. This process saved so many of my favorite outfits and I was then able to pass them on to other new mothers in great condition. 😊

    I just happen to be listening to a Stephen King's The Stand right now and I'm just.. I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS BOOK lol. It's been YEARS since I've listened to a book that has gripped me this much and I've been an Audible member almost since their beginning (I actually just recently canceled and this is one of the books I got when I was trying to use up all my credits).. I'm not a horror fan so I never listened thought to listen to a Stephen King book before. I am a sci-fi fan though and when I googled a list of the best sci-fi books of all time, The Stand was one of them.. IT'S.SO.GOOD.
    Also, this part;

    Share sleep with your baby and nurse as long as your child wants/needs to-but don’t share with people who are not like minded. Find other women who wear their baby close, co-sleep and feed their baby breastfeeding, and who won’t judge you. We all are experts on our own babies, and my baby girl was gassy all the time. She outgrew it as she grew. It’s temporary! Cuddle and snuggle and enjoy. They grow up way too fast! Nap with your baby every day! Makes everyone happier. My kids are in college now and still
    Love the memories, and jump in bed with me when they need to talk to their mom! It’s the best investment in parenting I ever made. Sleep will come - don’t stress over it. Precious babies.💖

    Earth Mama’s Diaper Balm was my literal go to for everything skin related. So gentle and worked wonders. That and breast milk. I’d put breast milk all over my daughter😂

    When you’re doing ASMR videos again, could you please make a “pour over coffee/barista” ASMR? That sh*t was relaxing to watch.

    Honestly a lot of the things people say about pregnancy/birth/parenthood can be SO discouraging! So I’ve made it a point to say all the amazing things to new moms!

      but thats not reality...the reality is that its the hardest stressful most amazing blessing/gift we can be given. The hard work and stress never ends but your life becomes magical with a new baby. Its not easy at the same time would never go back. life is complete with our children.

    You and Nick are simply thriving as parents. You can see on your faces how much joy it brings you. If I could change anything about the newborn era with my kids, I wish I had documented it more. Especially when the second child came along. I hardly have any picture of him because life was a blur with two kids. These blogs will be such a treasure for you to look back on 💙💙💙💙
