I don’t know about back then but nowadays, they do have guitars at a higher price point than 295. I am currently lusting very passionately and shamelessly after their Sage live model and their Ava live model. The day will come.
I bought one of these about a month ago. Great guitar. Sounds so much better than the one I had before. I did not put the pick guard on for it looks good without it. Well worth the money.
I own an Orangewood Echo that is the best playing guitar I've ever owned. I have been playing for 55 years, have owned some high end guitars and I wouldn't swap my Echo for any of them. This dreadnaught has volume and tone that will hold it's own in any musical setting.
@@gloraditch6915 Welcome to the OW world. You made a great investment. This Echo Live is the secong Echo I have owned, I talked my best friend into buyingn one and I have bought and sold a couple of Orangewoods.
I got mt Brooklyn Live about a week ago.... It plays and sounds very good. Set up is great... yes it is bright... good for bluegrass, country and rock and folk acoustic. Would think a deeper tonality would be better for slide and old blues. I am VERY happy with this guitar. Performs and as playable as far more expensive guitars. Don't get me wrong it sounds good for blues and slide.... but a little less bright would be better for the slides and swamp blues sound. ( a little nut pop on the g string which I think a little graphite will fix right up is the only thing that doesn't rate at almost perfect or perfect) 9.99 out of 10 for me. I will use my vintage 1968 framus 12 string texan for the old time blues sound.
Great sounding/looking guitar. I’m going to order mine and see if I can pick mine up directly from Orangewood. I live 20 minutes away from them. Thanks for the video it was very informative and well done. Best of luck with your music!
I have heard the oliver concert, liked the sound better seemed more condensed, and missing the vacuuous sound of the brooklyn. All the materials and wood is great, but sometimes topped up finish detail isnt always the sound you want. Beautiful guitar though.
It sounds like a $300 - $500 guitar. Not bad, I can definitely hear the sound is kind of thin with not much of bass and high attack, very typical of what a laminated back and side guitar would sound like. Doesn't mean it's bad, just personal preference only
Quick question why did you point your microphone at the sound hole? That's where you get the worst sound, it's very boomy and has no high end. Try pointing it at the 12th fret and you'll see the difference. Just wondering if that was intentianal or not?
thecaffineman hey there. I totally agree that when recording with a condenser mic you get the best sound by placing the mic in front of the sound hole and angling the mic facing the 12th fret. The mic is actually pointing right between the sound hole and the 12th fret, camera angle might make it look different. For my ear this was the best placement for this mic and helped capture the truest sound of the guitar. My room doesn’t sound bad but it doesn’t sound stellar either. I use the 7B because it captures less room noise. Ultimately the choices I make are based less on “the rules” and more on what sounds best. To me, The recording of the guitar doesn’t sound boomy or without high end.
@@PatrickBreenMusic I think you're right the recording doesn't lack top end or sound too boomy for that matter. Maybe it's just the sound of the sm7b I just never liked the sound of that microphone. Personally I love small condencer microphones on guitars in stereo. That way you just a much larger sound in my opinion.
Took a gamble and ordered this guitar… was already looking at ordering another model if this one went well but when I received my Brooklyn, the neck and headstock were twisted and the nut was sanded to fit the twist. Bizarre. Not sure how this passed inspection or the “professional” setup… needless to say I sent it back. No more orange wood for me. The response I got was, “but does it affect playability?” Lol
Wrong mic choice though. That Shure mic is a good radio broadcast mic that is now popular for vocals, why? I do not know. Always use a condenser on acoustics.
Why its popularity has increased? It picks up warmth well, it rejects off-axis audio, minimally colors, and prevents sound from say, an interface or computer from getting through. Now it comes with a bass roll-off and presence booster, as well as wide range frequency response for IF you wanted to record guitar. Rap and at home production is huge right now, so naturally a speaking mic that picks up warmth well and does a lot of the work is going to fit the bill. That's my theory anyways. But, I agree with you. Bad choice for a guitar if there are other options.
Is the logo on the headstock actual inlay? I bought an Orangewood Dana model last year and the logo is cheap fake MOP foil. It began rubbing off from clipping on my capo.
Our company hope to cooperate with you.Are you feel interested in testing microphone? That is a kind of microphones which is suitable to live performance.
It’s over $945 only because the for the LR Baggs pickup adds $300. That doesn’t make the guitar better. For the same guitar without electronics is $645
I bought the Morgan cutaway; has the electronics with controls inside the body. I modified mine a little.. put bone pegs and lighter strings. Action was a bite to high for me too but I just shaved the bridge down some and now it plays very nicely. There is a 10% off coupon by some too by some reviewers.
How would you compare it to a seagull s6 !! I’ve owned seagull Dreadnaught before and loved it ! I though it was the best guitar I could possibly get for around $400. I personally love the look of these orangwood guitar and the whole business idea behind them so if it compares well to a seagull s6 I might save $75-$100 and snag up a orangewood.
This company is owned by two brother Sooj and Eddie Park. They are from Korea and studied business at USC. Here is their business plan: make 98% of a guitar in China using computer technology ; ship it to California; and market to young people that want to learn this instrument and want to play something that is like the BIG names. Good plan. This is a good sounding and fairly easy playing guitar. Is it a BIG name. NO! The final finish is poor. Customer service is defined and very rigid. Since you can't go into a store, you can't see this. They want you to focus on the low price and the sound/ease of play. Bottom line: good product for the price. Marketing is marketing. Caveat emptor.
So they went up $100 in 5 months ? I checked their website and they list them at $395. You still can't beat that really, it has a solid Sitka Spruce top, for the price it's a sweet deal. Point your mic at an angle away from the sound hole towards the 12th fret or towards the bridge, sound hole mic'ing sounds muddy and boomy. Peace.
I love acoustic guitars and love hearing the tone of each one. Soo sick of all these videos with a long intro . I always wish these guys would just cut their crap and play the instruments !
Story telling and sharing a bit about my experience is a large part of what I do with my channel. Sorry to hear that you consider that crap. Fortunately for you, youtube is a massive platform with a ton of great creators! I'm sure you can find what you're looking for. Good luck out there!
WOW! How did you get those bridge pins out? ruclips.net/video/GtHWspChEAI/видео.html Any comments? They look a little deep, are the the whole too big on the bridge?
I don’t know about back then but nowadays, they do have guitars at a higher price point than 295. I am currently lusting very passionately and shamelessly after their Sage live model and their Ava live model. The day will come.
Right, if you go to the Orangewood web site, they now have guitars that are 995.00 to 999.00
Yeah they go up in the thousands now for their high end torrified models
I bought one of these about a month ago. Great guitar. Sounds so much better than the one I had before. I did not put the pick guard on for it looks good without it. Well worth the money.
I have a Brooklyn, I can’t believe how good it is.

I just ordered my Orangewood Brooklyn. I think Orangewood is really onto something here. BTW, Nice video dude.
how is it?
@@hansolosendor ikr i wann know too!
I love my Orangewood guitar!
as a single income father of 2, the price is still out of reach for me right now, but man I wish I could own one of these
i'm sure you'll get a nice one some day man, i feel you
Jezz Johnson just try to put back like 25 a month
Use a self made guitar from a woodworker
if you look on the orangewood website they have some even more affordable models
man look at their site, they have about 6 guitars all under $150 with the least expensive one being $125 and they look like they are great quality.

Pick-guard actually protects your guitar from potential scratches by your fingers. Just saying and nice playing!
I just got one used can’t wait to get my hands on it 🔥
You are a really good player. I would have liked to hear more playing next time.😊
Ordered my Oliver Jr. Live yesterday. Excited.
Great sounding/looking guitar. I’m going to order mine and see if I can pick mine up directly from Orangewood. I live 20 minutes away from them. Thanks for the video it was very informative and well done. Best of luck with your music!
you are lucky, I fell in love with Morgan spruce BUT THEY CAN'T SHIP TO TANZANIA!!😣😣
I was thinking about getting one and this video convinced me. I'll be ordering soon.

Looks great , sounds great. Crazy for the price.
Guitar is pretty. more companies need to do this. artistic Inlays & better sound hole rosette.
They do have all solid wood models that go up to the 800 dollar range so 295 is not their most expensive. Maybe it was when this video was made

THEIR HIGH END MODELS DUDE ARE LIKE $945.

It’s over $945 only because the for the LR Baggs pickup adds $300. That doesn’t make the guitar better. For the same guitar without electronics is $645
This vid was in 2018 so the guitars have increased in price I guess. Just ordered a Brooklyn Live Limited Edition yesterday it was $495. I'm excited.
Awesome guitar 👌
Orangewood unfortunately only sell their guitars in the USA and will not export to Europe.
“Do not” not “will not”. Be patient grasshopper
I’m guessing it doesn’t have electronics, right? Beautiful and fantastic sounding guitar though
Will Jordan no electronics in this model. But they do have two models that come with a Fishman Sonitone.

Will- apologies man, I missed your comment. As Stacy mentioned, there are indeed a couple models with Fishman electronics.
Looks like all their guitar are sold out. Glad I have mine.
Do a review of the Duke. Wanting this one..
Why they don't ship to Europe 😭
I used shopusa website, maybe they will ship to you?
Hey,Do you know if they sell outside of the states ?,I’m interested in buying one and I can’t due to not living in the U.S
Try “Reship”. A little bit expensive but better than moving to the US. It took about a week.
What KRK models are those? Rokit 6's?
