In france, there's a cake where it's literally just hose stacked up it's called Saint honoré and it's absolutely delicious (though the filling is more cream than chocolate)

To get hardened sugar off your bowls and equipment, you can soak it in boiling water or just boil them- it causes the sugar to soften and be dissolved in the water, which you can just pour out
For hardened sugar stuck on any pot or bowl, put some hot tap water in and just let it soak in the sink. The hot/warm water will melt down the sugar enough to make it easy to wash away with a soapy sponge.

@happydogger5009 it unironically is pretty difficult because you have to mold the molten sugar around it both without burning yourself and without snapping the sugar. But regardless, his croquembouche is incomplete. Lastly, there are other faults in his various other baked goods, especially his macarons.
@@unsealedlemon3947 thats true but also not the point of his series. the point is that its easier than most ppl think it is to bake desserts that, even if they dont entirely follow tradition, are delicious and simple to make. like yeah, maybe he didnt do the melted sugar drizzle it because its really hard, but thats not important to him because it tastes good.
@ivy-re6qo in that case, the series is misguided. Of course, it is easy to make baked goods taste good. Most pastries include sugar, vanilla, and chocolate, so making them taste good is easy. The reason so many pastries are hard to make has to do with aesthetics and decoration. It's like making a wedding cake with no decorations on it and then saying that making a wedding cake is easy. Of course, it is easy because you didn't do the part that made it hard.

To get hardened sugar off your bowls and equipment, you can soak it in boiling water or just boil them- it causes the sugar to soften and be dissolved in the water, which you can just pour out

For hardened sugar stuck on any pot or bowl, put some hot tap water in and just let it soak in the sink. The hot/warm water will melt down the sugar enough to make it easy to wash away with a soapy sponge.
