They made this point with John and Francesca, that not all love needed to be grand, dramatic and ridiculous. That a quiet love was just as real and genuine. They made this point, and as soon as Violet came around to the idea, they immediately wrecked it by having Francesca crushing on her husband's cousin before they leave on their honeymoon
@@ivrine96 that doesn’t really explain the direction they took at the end of the season. Francesca is supposed to be super in love and grieve her husband later on (per her book). She’s not supposed to fall for someone else immediately after her marriage just because her husband dies later on.
@v.besson6808 I'm not yet done watching the season. I only know what happened to the books. I thought everyone saying that she had a crush on his cousin is more of a foreshadowing to prepare the audience to not get too attached! 🤷♀️
I hate that they dragged fran nd John's story for Violet's garden, gave them polin's screen time, only to ruin it by her feeling disappointed in the kiss anf crushing on Michela. She cud have been bi or michela cud have been intriduced a bit later. Why take polin's screen time
I mean, there wasn’t exactly another way to do it. Colin and Francesca in the books get married during the same season. Francesca and John are married for about 2 to 3 years before he passes away. So it literally had to happen this season.
@@aahaley -spoilers ahead for books and show- Lord Kilmartin dies in the books and Francesca marries his cousin, Michael. In the show the cousin is Michaela, they have changed the character to a woman. This has upset a lot of the book fans as Francesca's story includes infertility struggles with Michael which would be difficult to portray in a same sex couple. Excuse my mistakes if I have anything wrong, I'm giving this information from memory and may not be wholly correct.
@@beccgah I’m gay and I experience fertility issues. Also if you look at Michaela’s outfit when they introduce her, she’s obviously in mourning. You don’t wear black back then unless someone died. It was very, very taboo. Also, the author of the books literally switched Michael to Michaela herself. So if the author doesn’t have a problem with it then maybe everyone needs to get off their high horses and stop complaining. I think Francesca will fall pregnant just before John dies and that’s when they will fall in love. The worst part about fertility issues is not not being able to conceive. For most women it’s the terror that the baby they’re carrying will be ripped from them.

there was no other way of doing it because franny & john get married in the same season pen & colin do.
@@4rtsyval why does that mean she had to have a crush on the cousin? ( Not disagreeing, genuine question)
@@pratkier Spoiler Alert! Her husband died later on and she had to remarry.

It's a ruin on the relationship because of the woke virus which in all honesty has ruined the delight of the series and the world
