This was the only time I wished Minnesota was the Indiana Fever in that play, because the national blowback on everything you guys brought up would've been crazy!! And we would have a new officiating review process announced already...lol
Everything Rachel said about Game 5 echoes what I've been saying.
You both are much more measured than I am. I'm gutted. I want to be happy for New York, I want to have my normal 'ahhhh I really wish we won it, but good for them' feeling. I can't. After that game, that second half, that freethrow disparity, that final play in regulation, that review...no. I don't respect this chip, I won't respect this chip, and that's just how it's going to be.
Seeing Phee and Kayla after the game...they were devastated to the point of dissociation. It was soul crushing.
This was the worst possible outcome to an otherwise legendary series. So many new eyes on the league, and the league failed spectacularly to meet the moment. From the officiating, to using Ruoco and Lobo as commentary, to Cathy's dress, to deleting the 'the trophy is where it belongs' tweet, to no comment on ALL of this...hideous. Hideous response. Maybe they're waiting until after New York gets their flowers to address it at all, but my god. My effing god.
