Random old Asian man just hanging out is so on brand. Lmao.
Isn't that Richard Wong, also a prolific RUclips reviewer?
@@AnandaSimnot sure if joking but that isn’t Richard Wong
Burst out laughing at 2:58 😂
Bro! 🤣
So funny 😂
он главный на районе )
Would love more collabs with the guy at 3:00
10/10 samee 😂
Would've loved to hear more from him ha ha.
I love that dude.
He is frm Sony
It sounds like the Lumix re-structure is finally paying off. Hopefully Sigma will update the fp line if this is successful, too. With Blackmagic on board as well, L-mount is finally really compelling, and becoming truly diverse. My dream is that Fuji will license the HVF to Lumix.
2:57 I watched that like 10 times and I can’t stop laughing
looks like a piece of crap. Worst thing panasonic has ever made.
The more you see, the funnier it gets
For the price, I think the S9 is a great choice. The features it doesn’t have are not deal breakers to me. Thanks for sharing your experience.
If it's just about price and you don't need pdaf for video, I honestly can't recommend you the original S5 enough. It's just around 800€ used and mostly the same as the S5ii
My thought before hearing the actual price was $1250. I can understand no viewfinder, but no flash capability on top of that?
Don't get me wrong, if it goes on sale I am picking one up in green if they make it available body only or with s truly compact at lens.
The fact they "botched" the lenses part is truly sad... I can't wrap my head around why they didn't just focus an making one compact prime with 2.8....
I was legit shocked that the pancake was f/8
What they are doing with the LUTs is terrific. Now Apple should do that as well (maybe in their new Final Cut camera), so you can go back and forth in one video right on the phone.
If it’s got the stalman stamp of approval it’s fine by me
The video and photo quality is incredible. This seems best for entry level, vlogging folks that definitely want something MUCH better than a smartphone.
What is your definition of budget??
If this was 900 dollars I'd buy it instantly because my S5ii with the 24-105 and microphone is too heavy and bulky to do run and gun style vlogging. I've always wanted something smaller and lighter, but at this price range and the recording time limit is an issue. I really wanted this!! Hopeful for S9ii
Strongly agree that the small lens is a problem considering this as a compact system. A 26mm f4 AF pancake-ish lens would be very appealing (f2.8 would be even better of course!)
Great video Tyler and awesome meeting again in Japan 👊🏿
Great video👍🏻 glad you haven’t received any of the “hate” the most of us have gotten probably because your audience makes more sense for this camera. But this camera rocks for travel🔥
Yeah I think some people are hoping for drama that just isn't there
Probably because most RUclipsrs are shilling this camera like it’s the best new tech ever released…
I dont know why some expect this to have flagship specs. This is a bargain and has more features than the ZVE1.
These YT guys are almost always in their studios doing talking heads as well. Which means, their cameras are in a tripod, with studio lights, and using external recorders and mics. So the grip, evf, hotshoe, shutter, and recording limits are all useless to them. And yet they complain more than the intended market.
The S9 is the same price as the S5ii. In some sits more. How is it budget camera?
Nara is really lovely. Been there twice and it is always very charming. About S9, I feel this is more for casual shooter rather than for a more serious individuals.
Kinda beat Fuji at their own game with custom LUTs on device. Oof. Smart.
Truly customizable jpegs that you can place as presets is exactly what I have been waiting for. If this comes on sale and they get truly compact lenses available I'm in for a green one.
Imo price should be $1200-1300. Available pancake or near pancakes in 24-28 mm, 35mm, 45mm around $300-500.
Man, the footage from Nara looks amazing! I might have to check that place out next time I’m out there. Solid video as always bro!
It's not an asia trip without an oldman standing next to you. It's the Law!🤣
30 seconds in, had a very familiar vibe...you're in osaka!!!!!
Beautiful footage! Balanced coverage on the build as well.
2:58 nah this is too funny
Found it in Germany for 1650.- including the 85/1.8! The price of an iPhone pro max. For a family/travel/every day cam I think it’s perfect. I just want the best picture quality and carry it with me, don’t care about the rest and there are many other cams for those who need „more“
Pros for S9 vs S5ii: 258g lighter than S5ii, Smaller body, $300 cheaper than S5ii, LUT mayhem if you're into that, Cold shoe
Pros for S5ii vs S9: EVF, Mechanical shutter, Dual card slots, Headphone jack, True unlimited recording with a fan, Way more buttons and customization in the body, Proxy recording, 14bit Raw files, Better grip, Weather sealed body, Hot shoe for flash photography and XLR adapter
ooof yeah the weather-sealing is my biggest problem with the S9. I still use my S5 mark i and that thing has toughed out heavy rain, basically drenched in water with no problem at all. I can't see myself ever going non weather sealed.
Nobody is mentioning about the screen brightness on summer sunny days, since there is no EWF. Will I be able to shoot any picture with confidence ?
Yeah it drives me crazy not having an EVF. I still get the shots but u can’t double check them
It has the same screen as the S5II which goes up around 1000nits plus. It's really usable. I'm not an EVF shooter, and I use my S5II on bright sunny days shooting weddings with no issue. Sometimes I manually force it to the highest setting, because the auto setting sometimes leaves it a bit too dark for my taste.
You made the best lut, thank you so much!
You mentioned the features the S9 didn’t have such as a mechanical shutter, no hot shoe and no flash built in but the one other missing thing was weather sealing.
When the S9 was hinted at in the rumours, it perked up my ears as I would love a compact full frame camera… the Sony option has a tiny EVF so it’s not on my list.
But when I saw the specs, and more importantly what it didn’t have I lost interest immediately.
So I find myself back looking at either buying the X100VI or the Q3, both of which are almost impossible to get here in Scotland right now.
It’s sad they made the decision to leave out what most would say is an essential for any camera… EVF, weather sealing, mechanical shutter and some kind of flash too… 🏴
I wish Lumix had been confident enough to make a proper Q3 competitor
Next time I’m getting you in my video danggit.
I was wondering why you didn't mention the video limitations and just flash a message about them in the screen. I guess is to avoid not being invited the next trip 😊
I’m pretty the Panasonic team can read as well as you can
I guess camera companies must be having a hard time these days with most people using phones instead. But good looking cameras are always fun to collect lol.
Beautiful footage, love full frame. However, I would not buy a camera workout a viewfinder! In bright sunlight a rear screen is hard to work with.
hi, not a camera for me, but i thought yours was a very good and balanced review.
Id love to see a beauty mode/ smooth skin mode in this camera since it seems to be mainly for social media and content creation
It cant be true that they removed any sign of a viewfinder for the size. Other example exist of small fullframe cameras
P.S. They're not auto-focus, but the two lenses which I've had in mind for my Leica TL2 are these M-mount Voigtlaender lenses: 28mmF2.8 at 106g; and the 35mmF1.5 at 188g. The M-L adaptors weigh between 75-100g depending if you get a close-focus mechanism.
I'm wondering, since the real time lut feature is available on the s5ii, but not with it's integrated button. Can we essentially do the same thing on that bigger camera? As far as capabilities and the results of the images coming out?
Also do you think the lumix lab app will be compatible with the s5 ii regarding luts?
random 3 minute guy is my favorite new character
If you guys sell it Im all in.
I have s5 of course i wanted to update to s5II solely for the AF (from garbage to usable)
As I was expecting a s1h II or something like that I was waiting.
But a s9 could fit me, I rarely shot more than 15 min footage.
I also shoot an olympic champion and when Im with him he wants to have the file really fast (so back to hotel to unload+ short edit and send him back)
I could see a really good use of s9 in this scenario. wether its photo or video sometimes I retouch some but he still just post some raw photos. So if at least I could have a lut on it etc that would be already cool for a fast share
Perfect b camera for s5 owner
@@renzheng 200-400$ less it would have been perfect. Lets wait 1year then its prize will be interesting.
Ваши Луты будут в приложении от Панасоник ?
I want them to take LUTs to m4/3, and the pocket lineup too, all the Lumix cameras 🥰
A family member just today told me the plan to buy an older m43 Lumix, I wish they had a newer option
@@stalman I Wouldn't blame that person weather just want to learn or have something to have fun that doesn't cost a lot and plenty of capabilities and one of the easiest for the user interfaces since ages. I hope that family member of your have a good time with it!
2:57 "we've been trying to contact you concerning your car's extended warranty "
I would think that a better comparison would be this camera vs. The Sony A7C2. Both full frame. Both compact.
Such video limits in 2024. OMG, Panasonic, what are you doin'?
Probably would go for it if it was weather sealed. I've got an S5 Mark i and a Fuji X pro 2/pancake set up. I Was "hoping" to replace the Xpro 2 to have a compact daily with my L mount EcoSystem.
After seeing so many negative videos about the camera it was good to see this.
A photo-centric design for a Video* Creator's Camera....with a short video recording limit. 😅
I feel like that record limit is their biggest problem
i was constantly hoping the guy would reappear throughout the review
So their LUT feature is essentially a Conversion LUT + a Stylistic LUT in one go?!
❤️
I can be or you can stack two luts, a transform and a style
Which Sigma lenses would you recommend for this camera?
I would basically use Sigma when the Lumix lenses isn't small enough, so the 17mm, 24mm and maybe 35mm seem great. But I haven't used them outside a store yet
3:09 15 minute record limit? 😮💨
This thing is trash.
So you download the image to your phone and then upload?
Why not just shoot on your phone?
How long before an app alows 1 touch LUT application on your phone, and then the S9 becomes useless.
Kino just launched for 1 touch lut on the phone
But if full frame cameras also look very different than phone
Great seeing you in Japan! You guys gotta come visit my little country on one of your international adventures 😊
You too, and thanks for the LR tips!
Best part 2:58 😮
“Smaller than an X without a lens” is like describing “Ford’s new F-150 is lighter than the same size Chevy if you don’t fit an engine”.
😂
3:00 Ojisan! Stop it please! Hahahaha
There was no Fuji X100iv. Why not comparing it to the vi instead? ;)
Any info on when the app will be available?
I'm torn between the fujifilm XS-20 and this one, I just want a camera to take jpgs on family trips without thinking too much about it, I'm guessing because of the full frame sensor, this camera would be better for moving subjects or night photography
If there’s a lens that seems like a good fit on the Lumix, you’ve got more maximum quality potential from it. But the Fuji shooting experience will be more enjoyable.
So what lens suit for now?
Is this really a budget option for 1500?
Just a random wholesome Hello 3:00 😊
2:58 is gold hahaha
Bro at 3:00 was a vibe 🤣🤣🤣
What lens were you using when filming with the monitor
If you get a plug-in battery would it go beyond 15 minutes for video?
It doesn't have a good cooling system, so that 15 minute limit is cause it'd overheat otherwise.
Osaka looking good!
sorry, make that Kyoto.
both 😍
Both! Good eye 😉
@@stalman I noticed you Monitor on top in one short clip. Need your insight on something.
So I have multiple S5 II for Professional Event Work… could I slap on one of my Atomos Ninja V for those moments I need a long form safety shot. So I can use this as a hybrid ?
@@pureheartvisuals That actually wasn't my camera, it as someone else in the group but Panasonic did say external recorders won't have a record time limit
Do you sell the Under NDA hat??
Those record limits must be a joke 🥲
Lumix created a lens cap with a small hunk of glass on the front… can you put filters on the lens? Nope…
You can’t even put a lens cap on it
I am very curious how easy it is to use the punch in zoom for manual focus, Because like my sigma FPL I would assume that this would be great with some fast manual focus lenses. Esp the very affordable stuff coming out of china. TTArtisans 50 F2 or Pergear 35 F1.4 would probably both be great. If I worked in a camera shop I would have plenty of those on hand to demo with the camera to potential customers that have never been able to play with Bokeh before.
On my normal AF Lumix lenses, the punch in is great. But the weird thing is that the MF 23mm lens wouldn’t do it automatically, I had to tap a button
I ordered that TTArtisan so I’ll find out soon
@@stalman I have to tap a button on my Sigma FPL as well, in the settings you can decide whether it’s a Picture in Picture or a full screen push in. The sigma also has a touch screen allowing you to quickly select where in the frame you want to punch in, how do you select this on the LUMIX? If you have other L mount cameras, I love my 7artisans 50 F1.05 but it’s larger and more expensive, much less of an impulse buy than the 50 f2. I recently picked up the monster TTArtisans 90 f1.25 with lots of compromise to deliver extremely dreamy bokeh filled portraits. Also my solution to LED banding is just to set the shutter speed to 1/60 and the ISO to Auto for indoor shooting.
@@stalmanI want to say that there is an override in the S5 to force the punch in on MF? been awhile since I set that up
no mic jack is a deal breaker.
It has a mic jack, what it's missing is a headphone jack
Too stripped down for me to consider. Will wait for future lumix L mount bodies to consider
“Hello” 😂😂😂
ummmmmm no flash photography too bad...i think lumix should just release a handycam style much more comfortable to hold if they are serious about photography in this
I like the full frame, ... Nothing else! No flash? no viewfinder, really? It's a bit like a full frame phone that can't make calls. Stripped down and usless unless you only want limited video.
Does it have in body focus bracketing/stacking for macro?
Yes it does, same as the S5II
@@stalman
That's great.
Thanks 😊
What camera are you using to film this vlog though?
Almost everything is shot on the S9, except a couple on the S5II
It looks a lot like the XE-4
Will MP4 Lite & Lumix Lab be coming to the S5iiX?
Lumix Lab for sure, they didn’t say about MP4 lite but probably
@@stalman Thx for the quick response :)
❤
NO FLASH?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?
if not 40 mp at least 33 mp
1,500 a budget camera? 😭 somebody buy it for me since it’s soooo on a budget
Hello 🙂
I'm a lumix fan, and also like your video quite a bit. But this is ridiculous to say this video is NOT sponsored by them! Come on! They flew you to Japan, and with all the things sorted like hotel rooms right?! And you basically had a free trip to Japan, playing with the newest camera, making a video (get views and money on RUclips). If you dare to say anything major to harm their products' sale, guess whether you would be invited next time?
I think I'm pretty clear that they flew us to Japan and covered our expenses for the event days of the trip. If that's too much conflict of interest for you then you can view it as if it's sponsored, but there's a big difference in terms of how I cover the product. For one, a sponsored video will never be a review, so when I say sponsored don't expect my opinions within the sponsored segment. On a press trip, we are absolutely allowed to say what we dislike about the product, which I did in this video, and so what if we don't get invited back? The money I'll make on RUclips from this video if it gets 20k views, is $70.
+ we stayed an additional 10 days in Japan on our own time and dime still shooting footage for the video and doing work outside of anything to do with the brand. i get it. lots of ppl making assumptions without actually understanding the nature of freelance work
Bro skip the shooting in public, at least in japan. No need to turn asia into usa where you cannot walk a block without walking into someone’s video. Just enjoy the video, shoot samples and voice over later.
“Cinematic Colors”
Bro it’s 4:2:0 lol
🤨
8:32 the deer probably doesn’t understand you…. Given that they all speak Japanese obviously 😂
I know 🥹
they speak the universal language of love 🥹
Why would I want to transfer full-frame quality to my phone to put on instagram? I don't understand.
Looks too half arsed to me.
2:58 He must be from China
Won't replace my fuji x100S until it gets an evf or Ovf.
Hello 😂
1st🎉
This camera is about $600 overpriced.
GERALD UNDONE EXPOSED YOU. Unsubscribed.
Did he? Seemed like he had a pretty fair and balanced video that doesn’t conflict with mine
Wow. What a crazy comment. I think this was a pretty fair video, Tyler pointed out it’s a limited camera but came in cheaper than the competitors. That lens is a litmus test: the reviewers who were on board with that thing lost credibility.
No viewfinder, and no FLASH! no go.
It's a stupid camera. Too little, too late.
Budget? At $1800, what world are you living in?
