Always a fantastic drive west to Portland! Gorgeous scenery, especially when Mt Hood is visible. The closer you get the lower the speed limit gets, the curvier I-84 gets and, usually, the wetter (or snowier) the road gets, and Sirius XM drops out more!! Amazes me how, when you get to the Dallas, the trees suddenly appear!! Drive safe Mike! Thanks!
The first half is kinda boring; more like those 'middle of nowhere' rides. But no, let's add the Columbia River on the right for interest, and some mountains and fun, mountain-and-riverside views and driving on the left. Yeah, the payoff comes at the end. US 30 does separate for awhile from I-84, but not for long. The rest of the ride to Portland should be fun.

Pretty cool how the fog seems to clear up as you get closer to the coast too.
I was also thinking the same thing from Dallas to Oregon but it is a different spelling. Great drive my friend
It's very unusual to see a railroad in the middle of a highway especially an interstate and there a exceptions that are terrain-related to allow this.
