Hi Sheldon, Great video as usual, I do like the final location of the substation, agreed it would have been in the way on the other side by the yard lead. Glad that you had a good trip, that White Pass & Yukon just doesn't look the same anymore without those old GE and MLW units. Joe
Totally agree. They had the old covered wagons (#90-#99) parked/stored on the cruise ship pier but I couldn't get any photos because they are in the rock slide protection area. I got a few photos of the shop as we passed by, including the steam loco and a few of the Alcos that are still in service.
Not only does it need streaks of rust and discolouration on the units, the fence is not complete without a bit of 'fly posting' that advertises small local business! (I quickly 'decorated' my little local substation!)
Very lovely work indeed… mr. Spacey. Just kidding your voice is so akin to his. On a more substantial note I think you’ve done a very fine job particularly with the mesh fence which, when executed poorly can look like a right awful disaster🙂 Your signal cabin looks great too imo! Rgds from Holland, Joachim
My locale PUD has a substation on the edge of town it has a control house elevated on the east side at one corner with concrete foundation six feet tall with building over hanging the fence and access from the outside of the station
Isn't the extra wire supposed to be strung on the angled tops of the fence posts? It represents the barbed wire that's up there to keep people from climbing over. A couple of runs, I think. Be a pain to put in, I'm sure...
The leftovers are just more of the top/bottom fence rail. It's too thick to be used for barbed wire. When I am feeling up for a challenge I will look into other, finer cross-section alternatives. Fine thread can be used; the tricky bit is adding the "barbs".
your subgrade station is missing sparky107107 with his Tim Hortons extra-extra large coffee cap standing around in there laughing when i get my substation done sparky will he ay the tim hortons buying coffee lol have to finish off other parts of the lay-out first
Thanks for sharing. Well done.

All in good time ... the whole layout needs weathering.
