  • Unfortunately I need to write this with a long disclaimer to try and avoid ugly comments.
A lot of people whom are huge Gillio fanatics may not agree with all of this video. This is my opinion and my opinion alone. Please keep the comments civil no matter if you agree or disagree. All negative commenting will be deleted. My channel, my rules.
With that said, I am not trying to smear Gillio with this video. I am merely pointing out there is definitely a quality control problem taking place in the mass production factory that needs to be better addressed in my opinion. In one video by Mella she stated this was happening so hopefully changes are coming.
Also note by doing this video I am in no way saying do not purchase from them. I am saying be an informed consumer. Get pictures, ask questions about the pictures. Do your best to quality control your new expensive planner before the purchase. This will give you a better chance of getting the planner cover you love and allow you to enjoy it for years to come. If by chance you get one and there are issues. Email the Gillio customer service team right away. Be descriptive about the issue and send lots of pictures so they can get a good idea of the issue first hand.
Also:) If you adore the undyed.....thats great, enjoy it, it just is not for me. That's all.

I agree with you on the FOMO. In this community I have learned to think for myself when it comes to the aesthetics of a planner and the accessories for it. It's challenging when a lot of things we come across can be enabling lol. Takes a lot of trial and error to finally realize what your planner style is and the type of planners you like.

I appreciate your video on the Gillio Capagna A6 dyed. I purchased one a month ago preloved. It is my favorite planner I’ve ever owned. And I am a planner girl. I have the LV A5 planner which I love. I wanted something lightweight and soft I could throw in my LV never full for work and the GC won. The patina is beautiful just like the patina of my LV. I personally love leather that has a patina and looks loved and used. I also love the size, weight, softness, and flexibility of my GC agenda. I am grateful to the woman that sold it to me second hand. It is still beautiful, and in perfect condition. I am now on a search to find others that love this planner as much as I do. Happy planning with whatever planner works for you! We all have different planner needs.

I gave up on Gillio completely. I decided to go to VDS for my undyed.

I agree with you-with their prices, I feel like all the craftsmanship should be flawless. I understand leather variances and that's fine, but sewing and all that should be superior quality. Just my opinion.....

Thing is, their quality used to be unmatched in my opinion. I would just like to see it get back that way again!

Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate it very much. I don't think honestly I won't be getting one of these. I'm new to TN's so this was really helpful to me.

As someone who works with leather a lot, they use calf leather. Which I personally think is not as high quality as it could be but they do it because that leather is thinner, but it’s also a smaller hide and they must be trying to utilize the entire hide. Also undyed is extremely easy to dirty if the area you’re working in isn’t the cleanest. Although I don’t see how a cut could be wonky when as a company they likely have clicker presses that cut the leather all at once. Personally my favorite undyed is Minerva pebbled which is used by eternal leather and he can customize the strap so it doesn’t develop a dot.

DOT on the undyed is for real.. I personally always close with my palm.. it’s really helps avoid the DOT it will still show up on the undyed especially but it is much slower to appear on any other leather.. I have some gillio’s from 2015 and you can barely see it if at all.. so yes close with your palm on gillios! I like the undyed leather a lot but it does go thru a dirty phase especially on the pebbles which is why I always request smooth lol 😂 the even patina comes from suntanning which I’d never do personally cause it drys out the leather and I’m already in a dryer climate. With undyed you have to be down to embrace the dirty, dot, and uneven patina!

I have suffered from FOMO in the past, which is why I'm in the middle of a HUGE destash right now. I have been considering a Gillio but couldn't afford new, and I didn't want to settle for something I didn't love. I am a fan of undyed leather. I regret selling my foxy fix bay leather cover. I'm good with not purchasing from Gillio or any other wicked expensive maker for something I don't really 'need' at the moment. And until life gets back to somewhat of a 'normal' routine I can't buy anything, which is my 2nd reason for my destash ($).
Thank you for sharing your opinion with us. I feel like having both good and critical critiques of products is important to the growth of the company. Also for us buyers who have particular preferences.

I think knowing quirks of some companies is important to point out. I to date own a handful of Gillios and still enjoy them. I just want to be sure people realize they certainly are not without flaws. I don’t always agree with overhyping products. It creates a chaos only a company enjoys, lol.

@@plannermumsy that's so true. Everything is a fad, one day it is Gillio & tomorrow it could be a composition notebook if the 'right' people get behind it. Perception is key. ☺

Thanks so much for your opinion. I’ve said this before Gillio Undyed has always looked dirty to me. Idk why that is and it turned me off. I do have a Black Epoca and even it has the dot. I do have my Undyed by VDS and it’s beautiful. I’d highly recommend them for an Undyed.

I only got into this Planner community because of Undyed. I'm a LV and Chanel Planner collector. But the first time I saw this raw beauty, I HAD to have it so it really wasn't a FOMO for me. I'm now getting all this education on the world of Gillio and VDS. Love your videos!

Every point you've made in this video is valid, especially the dot. The dot forming on the strap has always bothered me on a planner that is supposed to be from one of the highest quality company's in the planner market.

You absolutely are not the only one. My first quality issue with Gillio was 5years ago, persisted over the next 18months, then I stopped buying Gillio. The quality of the workmanship just doesn’t justify the price.

Thank you for your honest review! Although I personally love my undyed Gillio, I can totally see why you have the concerns you did about this cover. I have gone back and forth personally about the possibility of uneven patina, and I’m trying to just roll with it, lol I love personality on other people’s covers I’m just trying to be more at peace with letting mine develop its personality, lol

OMG I feel like I need to pull my undyeds from the last release and check for those marks around the edges! I see those on Chic Sparrow TNs a lot but I’ve never noticed them on Gillios before. 😬

It's a somewhat new thing. I don't think it is isolated to undyed. It does go away after use and such but it just makes me wonder why it is happening now when it didn't before?

I also hate the dot. It frankly disfigures the planner, I don't care what anyone says. I stopped buying Gillio completely due to quality issues. That said, I wouldn't buy an undyed planner from any maker. I really don't like non-uniform wear.

I like the metal indent. Looks like leather draping over it. I would not buy one 'padded'. Different tastes. I was just watching another's complaints video about the company and happened to read your comment. You said you were done with Gillio 4 months ago? but apparently that was not accurate as you just bought one. So disappointed.

    • @plannermumsy
      @plannermumsy  3 года назад +2

I have not bought directly from Gillio. This was a bst purchase. I still support the planner community and wondered what the undyed hype was about. You are right, we are all different and like different things, which is why I always reiterate, this is MY opinion. My opinion is not everyone’s opinion and that’s ok. Also....I will always reserve the right to change my mind even though thus far I have not but I do love the Gillios I have, if I see company changes then I will purchase again, if I don’t I will stick to bst or just other makers as I have done. Thanks for watching.
