The two oruguitas (little caterpillars) mean change, transformation, grow and resilience, when you have to adapt and change when circumstances force you to move forward, sometimes with pain, loss and sadness, to become something better (like a butterfly).
That is why butterflies are a symbol of the magic realism of my country (Colombia), where we have had to adapt and change in the face of violence and displacement generated by an armed conflict that bled our country during the 20th century.
You mention you like the guitar in the piece. It does sound wonderful. However, just for your information, they don't use the classical guitar in these numbers, they use a traditional Colombian instrument in the guitar family. Here is a description from Wikipedia of the instrument (which includes the Spanish pronunciation). The TIPLE (in Spanish: tiple, pronounced: tee-pleh), is a plucked string instrument of the guitar family, common in Colombia where it is considered one of the national instruments. About three-fourths the size of a classical guitar, it has twelve strings set in four triple-strung courses.
Oh wow! That’s cool! Always great to learn something new:))

This is the song from Encanto that was nominated for an Oscar.
Ah, this song really hits me in the feels. 😭 Thanks for reacting to it! I hope you’ll be able to watch Encanto sometime soon!
😭😭😭😭😭e 2e es f de ax
I get chills every single time I hear this song
man this song always makes me cry, even just watching people react to it. it's such a sad beginning but in the end, everything turns out alright. sad tears turn into happy tears. also, I noticed you picked up on the caterpillars turning into butterflies. In the last part of the song the lyrics change... instead of saying oruguitas he says mariposas (butterflies) as all the butterflies start to surround them. also, Mirabel (the main character) has butterflies on her dress. one would guess that she is the butterfly that came to save the family. anyway, love your reaction!
From Colombia to the World Papa, Latino pride. !!Latinosss!!💛💙❤
I hope this song wins the Oscar on Sunday
In a song and in that video the history of violence in Colombia is revealed, many years of internal war, as well as Mirabel's grandmother, many mothers, wives lost their husbands.
Many families in Colombia have experienced much worse things
Why does this song make me want to cry? I don't even know what he's singing but it's making me feel things.
Beautiful Job really 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌟
You should watch him perform this song live. He is so nervous but it only shows through in his singing at one point. It's stunning.
I subscribed. I also popped in to tell you about that twelve string Colombian guitar, but I see others have already done that, so bye for now.
7:08, well, you now know how it ends before having watched it
👏👏
I subscribe already and see on next song 👀👀👀😁
They also recorded an english version of the song, it doesnt hit quite as hard but it is still well worth a listen if you dont speak spanish to get a better understanding of the lyrics
you should react to the new joshua bassett ep as well as the music videos that go along with it... its so good
I think you would appreciate the song even more once you know what the lyrics of the song mean.
Wonders await you
And so afraid of change
