  • Grooming can get expensive, but with a little self teaching you can do it yourself! I've been successful grooming my Goldendoodle Moose from home, and I want to share my knowledge with others.

Thank you!! Very helpful. And thanks for keeping it short and to the point with useful tips and not too much commentary. Great communication.

Thank you! I've had trouble getting my doodle's paws properly trimmed because he's ticklish, but holding his paw like you showed made all the difference and I was able to trim all of his paw hair! Also, he had to have foxtail surgically removed from his paw last week, so I think he's happy to have me make sure nothing is stuck in there now!

Hello! Sorry to comment like this on an older video! I'm currently enrolled in a grooming program, and I've been working with washing dogs in a professional for about 2 years. I stumbled across your video on RUclips while looking for some tips. (just so you know im not a troll)
When youre trimming your dogs feet, it's very important that you NEVER scoop the dogs hair from between their pads and in the middle of their paw.
This leaves nothing to protect them from any burrs or stickers, from rocks and snow and such, and can leave them irritated causing them to chew on their feet and subsequently get them infected.
When you trim your dogs paw pads, always only buzz the hair that hangs over the paw! Never dig for hair between their toes. This will leave it short enough that they won't collect dirt or anything else harmful, but long enough to still protect them. However, its still important to check up on their feet , which you're doing!!! :D
Other than the whole Diggin' For Fuzz thing, fantastic video! Moose is SO well behaved, he's one of the best dogs for paw pads that I've ever seen!! Please keep up the awesome work!

Thanks for commenting! We live downtown in a big Texas city, so we don't have snow or sticker burrs. We're always careful that Moose wears shoes when we go hiking to avoid tearing up the paw pad. Since I am not a professional, I only groom for maintenance :) The fur between Moose's pad/toes will consistently mat if not kept short, and he'll gnaw at them until he's made himself sick! Thank you for watching! I'm trying to make time for another video!

I am unsure where you attended school at, but where I went we are taught to shave in the paw pad, but only in the middle area. NOT between the toes because there is small webbing that can easily get cut. Everywhere that I have watched and went to and currently work this is how it is done.

excellent job :-) right about 3 minutes were you talked
about how to hold the pad so it's more open and accessible is really valuable and useful. Thank you so much!

Thank you this was very helpful. We bought our Goleden Doodle (She's Black LoL) from a breeder with the notion that she would only need to be trimmed twice a year... Oy! This is great info thank you!

omg super cute. Seems so much bigger to handle a big paw.. My dog is too small it's so hard to get in between his webbings and trim.. i always have to go in with sharp scissors and he moves a lot so it's so hard every time to groom him takes hours

You should probably support underneath his chest while doing his pads so he’s not uncomfortable like he is :)

Goldendoodle are expensive to have. They have a lot of allergies to different foods, require a lot of grooming that runs very high due to them getting matted, if you can afford all of this, join a facebook group where goldendoodles owners come together. There is often a lot of information about breeders. Goldendoodles Rock and Goldendoodle lovers are some of the best ones.

I understand that you most likely have done your research to make sure you are safely accomplishing the groom, but make sure you are teaching the correct things. a 30 or 40 blade is short enough that you do not need to brush out the paw pads before shaving them and you shouldn't be going in between the toes because it is possibly to cut that webbing piece, you should only be scooping out the middle area. (this is what I learned in schooling)
