Tesla's cameras are easily blinded by sun and light glare, dirt, water, snow, etc etc. A human can reposition their head and shield their eyes to avoid sun glare or other debris on the windows. They also have analogical reasoning skills that allow them to add additional information to their decision making and planning processes. Tesla FSD doesn't have reasoning capabilities. It uses machine learning which is just pattern recognition. The human brain is way more powerful than the FSD computer. That being said, more information/data is better than less. More sensor data from additional imaging modalities is better than less. More data from mapping is better than less. That's not to say Waymo relies on maps to navigate. They don't. They simply use it to generate a "prior" and add information to the system. They can still navigate without it and have shown how well they adapt to changes from construction and other situations.
Here's the FACTS: As an owner of Tesla S & X, I had FSD for YEARS, and DROVE for THOUSANDS of MILES, I can say that there's MILLIONS of Tesla out there, and they kept on TALKING about 1 or 2 crashes that was DRIVERS ERROR. I can say that THESE SO CALLED ANALYSTS doesn't have even 1/4 of MY experience about FSD, period.

I think August is really just going to be the unveiling of the robotaxi physical car, but obviously the most important part is the software. I don't think we'll see any Tesla w/o a steering wheel until at least 2026. But once the market realizes that all existing Teslas can be retroactively updated to drive themselves with solely cameras, just wait and see what happens lol

Nightly uplinked updates through a cloud based control center could also enhance the learning speed. But think about how much power that onboard CPU is going to require.
It will be a complete failure. The history of Tesla self driving leaves a lot of questions on safety. Who allowed these things to be on the road? Were there any trials?
What value, my coworker tried to trade in his 2021 Model 3 Long Range with FSD and at 32K miles. Tesla only gave $25,000 for the trade in. What added value is Elon Musk talking about? It is just the same trade in value as I trade in my wife's 2020 Model 3 long range without FSD, and at 33K miles.

There are many problems and hurdles with the robo-taxi thesis. First of all, it’s going to take YEARS. It will never work on winter roads - so take it out of all cities that get snow. Regulations are complex and different in every city, state, country - so that will be a long road. And when we eventually get there and robo taxis are on the roads, it’s going to be very underwhelming in terms of generating profits.
Luckily for Tesla there is a sucker born every minute. Anyone that believes Robotaxi's could be made into a widespread general use taxi service has no idea of how limited Tesla self driving tech is. It probably could be used in some locations where traffic is easy and there is a high volume of passengers 20 hours a day. Maybe airports with well managed traffic? That would be like 10 airports in the USA? Can a car get a taxi license? Tesle FSD can't negotiate a parking garage, it can't back out of a stall, it can't recognize a police officer, emergency vehicle or hand signals, it can't interact with a toll attendend; it literally can't hear a siren it's deaf; Level 3 not 5.

I am an Engineer, when Lidar gives off a GO signal and Vision sees something that the car shouldn't GO, then the systems starts to override each other creating jerkyness response on the car. yes, one overrides the other, etc.... however it creates indecision on the car that produces a horrendous driving experience. these people that don;t write software never understands this. That being said, they have been testing their system as an L4 ride share service and by definition an L4 system is geofenced and speed limited. I saw videos of version 12.3 (latest one) on RUclips by Tesla fans. Taking corners too close to edge, failure to detect smaller objects, fail to get out of parking lot, almost ran into truck etc. While it’s the best version, definitely not ready for prime time. See Waymo now, that is incredible.
I’ve been using FSD on a daily basis. 12.3.3 is the latest, Tesla is internally testing 12.4 now. I’ve also also seen how Waymo AND FSD handle construction zones. FSD handles novel situations like construction zones way better. Waymo is a bit better with “plain” driving right now, but FSD is improving far faster. FSD is also 20% faster door to door. In 6 months FSD is going to leave Waymo in the dust.

It’s not wrong to say LiDAR can give others some advantages. It makes obstacle detection easier but does not necessarily bring you closer to FSD. Vision is fine, in theory, but is so tricky algorithmically that to get it so work in practice is very very hard. Ask DARPA.

I saw videos of version 12.3 (latest one) on RUclips by Tesla fans.
Taking corners too close to edge, failure to detect smaller objects, fail to get out of parking lot, almost ran into truck etc.
While it’s the best version, definitely not ready for prime time.

I’ve been using FSD on a daily basis. 12.3.3 is the latest, Tesla is internally testing 12.4 now. I’ve also also seen how Waymo AND FSD handle construction zones. FSD handles novel situations like construction zones way better. Waymo is a bit better with “plain” driving right now, but FSD is improving far faster. FSD is also 20% faster door to door. In 6 months FSD is going to leave Waymo in the dust.
Then dont buy tesla stock. Dont use a robo taxi. If u fear it then dont use. Damn
