11:10 Did you notice the locks sold there? Those are the ones you see on the sidewalk of the railroad bridge over the Rhine. A couple in love buys one, has their names engraved on it and hangs it on the fence of the railroad bridge. By now there are so many that people fear the weight will bring down the bridge or at least the fence.
We did see them! Unfortunately we didn't have time to cross the bridge, so that is definitely something we want to go back and do. Uh oh! I'm sure they will have to cut them down soon. I think they had to do that in Paris!
@@arnodobler1096 I will absolutely add Maultaschen to the list of things to try! As far as Kasespatzle goes....WE LOVE IT!!!! It's one of my favorite German foods 😂 Thank you so much!!
If you have eaten well then you have the energy to climb the stairs. A recommendation is the chocolate museum on the Rhine. Not only do you learn a lot about the production process, there is also the opportunity to take something sweet with you.
What a great vlog. Glad you enjoyed my home town. an insider tip if you are not up to the climb of the Cathedral is to go to the KölnTriangle which is on the opposite side of the river and has an elevator to the top floor. It gives great views of the Cathedral and the city.
Next time Kölntriangle tower. The top floor and roof houses a publicly accessible observation deck with panorama views all over Cologne, in particular Cologne Cathedral, directly opposite the Rhine.
Haha, 8:34. That's Gottfried IV, Count of Cuyk-Arnsberg. The only secular dignitary buried in the Dom. They had to errect a protective construction to keep his statue from being vandalised.
Cologne always great but there are so many other nice places to explore in Germany.Just go to Bonn and Konigswinter at the Rhine River or Neuss nice too .Freiburg is nice too. Aachen nice City

Kartoffelpuffer is just the German version of hasbrowns btw! We just eat it with Applesauce (: Just like the Schnupfnudeln, you can eat those with apple sauce as well!

When visiting Ulm (it's not a question of if), make sure to climb the 768 stairs up to the very top. It's the world's tallest church. I've made it up there multiple times, it's worth it, especially during summer. Did your family enjoy Cologne?
Hahah we believe you! We are suckers for a good view, so we will absolutely try this. Thank you for the tip! They absolutely LOVED IT! Cologne has so much to offer, and it is just a stunning city. We are hoping to make it back with Anna's family sometime, too.
I think there are quarantine requirements for those who are unvaccinated (I'm not completely sure though, so I would encourage people to research themselves). But we are currently living in Germany, so we are allowed to follow the same rules as native German residents.
You re not allowed to walk without a mask in that train station, also at that X-Mas Markt. You´re not allowed to sit in a train without a mask. What is wrong with you?
How pretty 🤩 I didn't know Cologne had such a cute Christmas market.

I'm glad the stairs were still open on Sunday! It was one of our favorite things to do in Cologne.

Still pretty lively for a 2,058 years old city. :) And it is only Germanys second oldest city, after Trier. Both former Roman settlements.
