Step 1. Write skeletal equation
Step 2. Assign oxidation no. of element which have variable o.no.
Step 3. Separate oxidation and reduction half equation and add the electrons in that side o.no. greater
Step 4. Balance charge by using H+ in acidic medium and OH- in basic medium
Step 5. Cancel electrons and add the half equations
Step 6. Balance O by using H2O
