That giant abalone is called a 'paua' (similar pronunciation to 'power') in New Zealand by my people and is used in jewellery and also as a decorative element in the carvings in our marae (traditional meeting houses). We also eat the seafood inside. So yummy. I have one shell I brought with me when we moved to Australia. They range in colours from deep blues and greens to turquoise and are found on the beaches. Where I lived in Wellington, we also had a very pale pink shell paua as well. I was so happy to see you had one of those in your collection. I recognised some of your mystery shells from Solace in Shelling's channel. His Caribbean shelling trips are to die for. Tropical shells are just so extra. Another great video Jaime. I can't wait til you can shell full time because you have great content too. Love from Australia. Rachelle 🐚

Hi Rachelle! Happy Shelling Wednesday! Yes - the Abalone is one of my favorites! I have heard that you can eat them and they are very good. I will have to add that to my list of things to try in life! I heard there are red ones too and that they are super hard to clean - you have to use a wire brush and it's a lot of work! But soooo worth it! So gorgeous! Yes - I just watched Solace in shelling this morning - the T & C video - so good. He also helped with identifying some shells today! I absolutely love this shelling community! I'll see you next week on the beach my friend! Thanks for watching!

Hi, thanks for sharing your videos about your shelling adventures, especially those about the Atlantic shells. They're different from those in Hawai'i and the Gulf of Mexico, where I've been, so it's great to see them. Re. the harp shell you talked about, I looked it up and it's called an articulate harp shell. I'm from Hawai'i and if those shells are from here, I've never seen one! Most of the bigger shells are not found on/near the shore but near reefs or in deeper waters. So unless you're a diver, you're not going to see them. Of course, you might find one washed up after a storm or when the surf is big in the winter, but it really is by luck if you do!

#1 (STROMBUS GALLUS) is commonly called a Rooster-tail conch. Another name for #2 (CITTARIUM PICA), the West Indian Top, is "Magpie shell." #3-??. #4 is a (BULLA STRIATA) Common Atlantic bubble shell. #5 is definitely some kind of Top shell. #6 is some sort of land or tree snail. #7 are Turban shells of some kind. #8 is definitely a Chiton or Coat-of-Mail shell fossil. (Too hard to identify which chiton it was.)

@@debbiegaylord6804 Great idea! I think we got them all. Solace in shelling and some subscribers were right on top of it, but next time for sure! I like collaborations! ✌️❤️🌊
