Force Unleashed is the best Star Wars action game. in what other Star Wars game can you so freely control the rag dolls of enemies like storm troopers with the best telekinesis in gaming and turn them into literal lightning grenades. ignoring the PSP/Wii ports where they replace that with the pansy choke. Vader is iconic but choking is kid friendly compared to becoming a human grenade. i can't take Vader's choke seriously anymore, the Robot Chicken sketch ruined it for me because it being the officers playing along with his delusion so they don't get murdered by a light saber is too funny. though the choke in the Force Unleashed boss fight is infuriating. the rest of that fight is fantastic.

Of these 5 - the one I'd really want is Enslaved and if they still have the original 'video' recordings, they could really bring even more of the actors character to these too - their facial expression and emotion...

    • @beesforbreakfast

It wasn’t hardware restrictions that made the combat so rubbish, the platforming a pretty obvious string of canned animations, nor that made you do so much of both. It’s a beautiful world, but I don’t think it’s…actually much fun to interact with

I would love a proper Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I &II remake. The story is so good, and you truly feel the rise in power with your character. However, you need unofficial mods just to run the game on PC. Two of the best Star Wars games that have ever been released

    • @mar_speedman
      @mar_speedman 11 месяцев назад +5

That's not true. I can run both without mods. Though KotOR does tend to crash at times, and KotOR II is played best with the total restoration mod. That doesn't stabilize it though, that just restores cut content.
Anyway, I would like good (Very important) remakes of these games, and I'd love if they were action RPGs with the same level of depth and nuance to the lightsaber combat as the Jedi series. My thinking is, we already have the original KotOR RPGs. Beyond improved graphics, we don't really need to remake the same game, not unless we switch things up and do something interesting
And at the same time we can have remasters of the original games (WIth restored cut content) so everyone can enjoy KotOR the way they want to

Mistwalker does do re-releases though, as long as it's a Blue Dragon title. 😂 never played those either but been seeing a lot about them recently. That's the problem with collaborations like Lost Odyssey, is that so many people are involved with is composition but usually only one company has the rights for it. Completely agree with Mike. Breaks my heart that it is so overlooked. I enjoyed TLoU, but nowhere near as much as Enslaved.
Looking through my list, my saving throw would be for Alpha Protocol. Morally ambiguous choices (a given, being an Obsidian game) that actually did impact on the missions, objectives and difficulties later in the game, romance options, an RPG spy thriller. A bit like Alien: Isolation, it was hobbled by Metacritic (Sega cut payments to Obsidian because it scored 78, not 80+). It also encouraged you to approach spycraft by choosing your actions between the 3 B's: Bauer, Bond or Borne? That allowed for interesting options, that could be hilarious if you say, picked the Bauer approach to a Bond situation.

One game I recalling really loving when it came out was "War In The North" where you play as a trio or a Ranger, an Elf and a Dwarf who are fighting a series of distraction missions to divert attention away from Frodo and the Fellowship, only they end up going up against some allies of Sauron who are rather powerful in their own right. It was kinda like a prototype of "Shadow Of Mordor" just with dismemberment's that almost rivalled the "Xmen Origin Wolverine" and you could switch between all three playable characters. Best of all it had it's own version of a New Game Plus which meant you kept all your levels, gear and so on, and could get progressively more and more powerful and basically murder your way through Middle Earth in a manner that makes Merilwen's Meat Grinder look like a mild disagreement in a school yard.

OxBoxtra team with great timing as always! Always pulling for a Parasite Eve remake, but recently learned the only way to play the game at all now is to shell out HUNDREDS of dollars for a physical copy or digital via specific PS3 marketplaces. One, a fast healing, enraged "knife-maniac" with his own adamantium bone claws. The other, an immortal, wise-cracking mercenary.... Both unkillable (although I'm pretty sure - I may be wrong - Wolverine can die) both slash people up easily...These two games have proved they can be done (in Deadpool, his suit didn't regenerate when he got shot so he too kept the gunshot wounds)

The sheer speed you can explore around, even just instantly in the heat of the moment to escape and find some civs to heal yourself with.

I would like to see a remaster of Remember Me. DontNod has had _wild_ success with several titles over the years, but their first foray into the world of video games went underappreciated. It was a straightforward, linear 3D beat-em-up with a design-your-own combo system where you could put certain moves together to deal heavy damage, reset cooldowns, or some combination of both. Unfortunately bland female protagonist didn't convince a lot of people but it had an interesting cyberpunk-lite premise dealing with memories and what it might mean if someone could edit those memories.

Meanwhile, with quite a bit less visceral violence is another one of my favorite games: Okami. It's had ports and some upscaling, but I wouldn't call them complete graphical/mechanical overhauls. It was a PS3 game heavily influenced by Irish folklore, and had a pretty cool combat system where you defeat the enemies and then steal their souls, in this case called an "Id", and then can summon them. Or, in the case of the game's supporting character, use them like a Stand out of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Yessssss, amazing list. Dude Enslaved remains one of my all-time favourites, SUCH a gorgeous, creative game! Wolverine was also a banger, loved the healing factor visuals. And YES Luke for Prototype and NO Ellen for Infamous. Prototype represented SUCH freedom in that genre, the chance to actually do as you please, for better or worse. And the story was actually compelling, dipping into the Web of intrigue was so much fun (finding those last few people on the map to absorb was an adrenaline hit). It remains the only game I can think of where you can grab an old granny, run up the largest building in New York, and sail through the sky before powerbombing her into a tank. Checkmate, Infamous.
Oh, and commenter edition entry: Psi-Ops Mindgate Conspiracy. By far one of the most fun games ever made, absolute hidden gem. I know that's OGXbox but it was SO GOOD, THOUGH! Psychic soldier, capable of telekinesis, pyrokinesis, mind control, and best of all, pretty much all usable simultaneously thanks to a very clever control scheme. The story was willfully silly which only added to the charm (characters in flashbacks given wild afros) but the star of the show was the gameplay. Came out same time as Second Sight but outshone it in every regard, imo.
If I must choose X360 only, then it's Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena. Whilst itself an updo of Butcher Bay from OGXbox, it was an outstanding and innovative game, the first I can think of that when all light sources are off just gave the player absolute black. And the first time melee and stealth was done REALLY well in a first person game. Was the story amazing? No, but it was capable, and served to put Riddick in all kinds of interesting locations to do what he does. I'd love to see a suped up version given all the trimmings.

The game I need to be fully remade is from the DS. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It’s such a good story, but the hardware and the time limited them somewhat. I would love to be able to play it in the KH3 engine. Also, give us a second story when you beat the game to play the whole game from Xion’s POV.

'Folklore' is a game that NEEDS a remaster. Absolutely loved that game, and its a gem that not many people ended up playing, but they definitely should. Its like an Evil Dead graphic novel made in japan and the protagonists have stands- its so good.

Hunted: the Demon's Forge was an AWESOME and completely underrated single player or co-op 360 game. Decent but not overly complex story, fun mechanics, a simple good/bad ending, and a completely customizable arena mode where you can fight endless hordes of enemies!

I vote for the 2010 Aliens vs Predator game. The Alien and Predator campaigns were really fun sneaking around impaling marines, and the marine campaign was a serviceable FPS. I don’t know why GameInformer reamed it, I loved it. My only complaint is that the final boss of the Predator campaign doesn’t have an execution, he just falls over dead when his health runs out.

I would agree with all of these for sure. Personally, I thought Prototype had an excellent story and Alex Mercer is one of those characters that is bland on the surface but is good reading between the lines. Also, the game has the most difficult hard mode I’ve ever played.

My vote goes towards Fable 2. It's the only one in the trilogy that's a Xbox 360 exclusive, which is a shame because I have so many fond memories with it compared to the other two. It brought a few improvements and it's generally enjoyable to me. Being Xbox One and such compatible isn't enough for me, if someone can get it remade or remastered someday.

Fable 2 had a really robust co-op experience (including couch co-op) for its time, I would love to see it remade with a smoother execution of that as well.
I would also like to see Fable remade. I think it was an original Xbox game and eventually had a 360 port, but it still had the same loading times between absolutely minuscule maps and very vague objective directions, so I was never able to go back and actually play it through (having played Fable 2 first).

I vote for more of Rockstars Bully or Bully 2.
I can absolutely hear Scott Summers yelling "Ah Wolverine no!" and Hugh Jackman Wolverine, "Ah WOLVERINE YES!!" as he just decimates a whole platoon of mooks. The tag line of "Prototype, why not?" with a shrug also got my attention more than it should have. I'm afraid I missed the RDR train. never tried them myself, but I know a lot of friends who would absolutely play that.
