    I am such a fan and admire the quality of your work with donkeys!
    We are retired and have saved 5 donkeys in 1 and a half years, we live in France, in Meuse. I work from Andy Booth's online teaching (I am a beginner) but a donkey is not a horse.... I am so sad that you stopped teaching because we would have come from France to have your teaching. Failing that, I often watch your videos to tell myself that it is possible to achieve a fine and harmonious communication work with our donkeys. If one day you change your mind and teach again, please, contact us (hoping that we are still alive ;-))))

      Hi, thank you very much for your nice words! I learned myself a lot from the good horse trainers, but I would recommend you to attend their trainings personally with your donkeys like I did (good horse trainers don´t mind to teach donkey, they´ll recognize the different behaviour and can deal with it). In the end it´s all about patience and small steps. I´m sure you´ll get better and better with the time, maybe one day you´ll be the one teaching ;-)

      You can google "extreme trail", which is a horse discipline with these obstacles, there are really many of them. Mark Bolender is the leading expert in extreme trail in the US

    Hello and Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. 3 questions: Do they get their feet trimed, and how often? 2. Do you keep them barefeet or shod? 3. Do you consider coming to the U. S. for visit or potentially having training sessions? - This is James, we live in Arizona, and I can email you our contact info. You training method and results are amazing! I know on only one other person but he trains mules. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.

      Hi James, thank you for your comment. All my donkeys are barefeet and trimmed every 8 weeks. A US visit would be amazing, but unfortunately too expensive travel from Europe.

    I love your approach to training. It is obvious the donkeys are enjoying their work with you and respect you. I am a new donkey owner, I have only had horses before. How do I teach my donkey not to bite? He is almost 2 and scheduled to be gelded this week. Thank you!

    • @EselReich
      @EselReich  3 года назад +2

      thank you for your comment. I would try to find out the reason, why he is biting. Maybe people used to feed him from the hand?

      @@EselReich thank you. Yes, they did hand feed him treats. He is very pushy. I just purchased a flag to train with. I believe that will help a lot to create space. Thank you.

      @@cathyswitzer2128 just having him gelded will take care of most of the problem.
      He needs to learn Respect for You and Your space - that solves a Lot of the problems.
      Use a training halter not a web halter as they tend to Push / Lean on a web halter.
      He needs lots of ground work / manners (respect ) training. He must learn respect for the handler otherwise its going to become a Bigger issue in future.
      You have already taken the First Big step by getting brain surgery for him 😉
      Just kidding /sort of.

    Hello again! James here from Arizona. Do you do Join-up with donkeys like horses or mules when you first get them? I just got a donkey and she is pretty unsure and not skitish but stand offish and little jumpy. I am interested to know how to connect with her and build her confidence in me and environment. It is not my first donkey. I lost the one I had a while back, and he was already trained under saddle when I got him.

    • @EselReich
      @EselReich  Год назад +2

      Hi James, I have no idea, what´s a join-up. When I get a new donkey, I go on walks and hikes with the donkey, this builds confidence and trust perfectly, and the donkey learns to feel safe with me and confident by himself. Basically, I go much more often on hikes with my donkeys than I do train them.

      @@EselReich Thank you, as always, for sharing your knowledge. The video from mule trainer have the mule in round pen without any gear or haltet, having mule go around at different speeds and change direction till mule dropps his head, licking, chewing, and putting ear on trainer, and when stopped, allowing trainer to get close and pat him, basically accepting the trainer as leader. Does this work for or recommended for donkeys? Thank you again. I wish you guys were closer so we could invite you and family to dinner!

    Hi! I’ve got a 3 months old donkey, he will turn 4 months on dec.22. And i want to train him. But first i want to teach him to lead... just i don’t know how to start it. Don’t you think it’s too early? He can listen to me well and i play with him a lot to earn his trust. 💗 Can you give me some tips? By the way your videos are so good and you can train donkey so well!

    • @EselReich

      Hi, I think you can start to train a foal on a leash, but a) only a very short time in the beginning, like half a minute or a minute b) make it a game c) make only a soft pressure and be very consequent with immediately releasing the pressure when he reacts = good time and feel. You can take him on small walks on a leash together with his mother. I´m glad you like my videos :-)

    why would want to train a donkey ? to do what ?..... to jump obstacles? they do that on their own !!... ..i have a pair of donkeys( for almost 15 years each ) and simply put it .... they do what ever we ask them to do ....they are extremely intelligent animals ....they are everything for us .. workers , guardians , pets !! .... they know everything ...they only thing missing for them to do is to learn .. how to read and write !!!.. !!! on the video ..and knowing this animals for 50 years .. I think they are training her ... !!

      Hello Mr. Mendez. I for one appreciate this lady who is willing to share her knowledge and going the extra step to translate in English so someone novice like me can understand and learn. While donkeys 'know' the moves, I, for one, am still learning how to 'ask' them properly and gently so we can work together as partners. I owe what I have learned thus far to those who were willing to share their wealth of knowledge as I didn't grow up with these wonderful animals and for a good part of my life, lived and worked in cities. If you are willing to share your knowledge and start a channel, I certainly subscribe, and in the mean time, I send my appreciation to this lady and all those who have been kind to be my mentors. With Respect, James from Arizona
