I have just received the mesh headrest for my onyx black Aeron gaming edition. My only issue with it is the mesh is a little bit darker than the chair. The chair mesh is softer as well. So not a complete match. One thing I do enjoy is the cooling factor of the mesh headrest vs what you may get with the fabric. When not laying on it for some time it cools off and is very refreshing. For those of you getting a headrest one tip I would give is push it back a bit so you are using it only when leaning back. If you are attempting to use it all the time even while upright you will find your neck and shoulders getting very stiff. You can also loosen the screws just enough to make adjustments on the fly and not have it move on its own.
So just spoke with Atlas Headrest and they were surprised by this comment. They use the exact same Onyx fabric and at one point, had to use the fabric directly off of Aerons to make the headrests due to shortages.
Looking at them both closely the mesh does look incredibly similar. The headrest mesh however is spaced a tiny bit wider. Maybe this happened in manufacturing while stretching it taut. Update: I messaged Atlas to see if I could get a replacement. Thank you Ahnestly. I would have just thought that's the way it is and kept it.
Thanks for all of the chair content. Yours is the only decent task chair information channel. I'm trying to update an old Herman Miller Aeron. It works well enough but needs new casters, new arms, and a headrest. I know how to get the casters directly from Herman Miller and will buy the mesh headrest from Atlas. As for the arms--I can only find replacement arm pads. The pads are fine, but I need new ARMS for the chair. It's one of the pre-2006 models and the arms have that wheel lock, but it doesn't actually lock the arms in place anymore--they slide down as soon as you start putting weight on them (like from your arms, for example). I want to replace them with the arms from the post-2006 model, but I cannot figure out where/how to acquire them. Can you help? A video on how to update/refurbish Aerons would be amazing.
Hey! Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of knowledge of the arm mechanism...best bet might be to call a HM dealer and see if you can source parts from them (might be pricey though). As for casters - don't get HM casters lol. Overpriced - you could buy generic casters on Amazon!
@@Ahnestly Just to close the loop on this: I asked HM if I could buy arms and they told me I had to contact an authorized HM dealer/service center. I contacted the one closest to me and they advised that it would be $500 to replace just the arms, so I'm giving up. It's a shame because the chair is still in good condition, apart from the arms and casters.

Hey thanks a lot for this video, as always you are the go-to channel when it comes to everything Atlas. I just wanted to confirm if you are sure the old fabric version of the headrest is not interchangeable. Because they have sold an “upgrade” to the mesh version from the fabric on their website pretty much since it came out, and this involves swapping the headrests and keeping the base. Just asking for someone who may have an old fabric and would like one of the new ones. Thanks again and happy new year!
Hey Jacob, hm not sure. The older fabric that I have is one piece as you see in the video. Maybe they moved to an upgraded base later? I can’t really check on their newer ones since they don’t sell the older fabric headrest anymore
It looks like the upgrade comes with the slider piece that attaches to the top of the base so you can take off the old one from the base and put on the new one and attach it to the new model of headrest.
Great question and one I realized I forgot to answer. It’s almost identical but you get SMIDGE more space on the older one. We’re talking like 2cm of space. You don’t get a ton of range but that is the case with any headrest.

Hm I'm less eager on it than I was before...it seems that division is less responsive overall and can run into issues if you are on the heavier side...I personally still like it, but I may remove it from my top tier list when I do my next one.

I'm torn between DxRacer Master and office chairs. However, I could not find an office chair with the same material quality for the price of Master. Bucket-shaped tread structure. And while the forward tilt support is suggestive, I still haven't found a comparable office chair. And I don't know what to buy. Note:I don't want my neck to be idle because I'm tall. :/
@@BerserkeR_031, It is true that it cannot be compared with the other armchairs of the brand, but the Master series has a different structure. Since it is modular, it also provides a separate comfort when the seat and back are changed. The only problem is that it just leans back, some office chairs can go forward.

Hm there is no best one. I would say look at the feature set and see which one you think is best. I use the white plastic one with the memory foam on top - it's super stable and I can fidget with it!
is there a risk of cracking the frame using this headrest? i got one, but it doesnt feel solid when u get in a rest position like it might break over time

Hey! I don't have a comparison, but I wouldn't go vegan leather...it's the least breathable material and I feel the head gets the hottest (bc of hair!).
Yeah, I've found some posts on Reddit that confirm that. Definitely not something you expect to see, considering that the product is good and has been verified by renowned experts.

One of the best headrests you'll ever use on a chair. I don't like using one when I'm sitting up, but only for when I lean back to relax. The headrest allows me to push it back and just barely tickles my hair when sitting up, and then I pull it forward a bit when I want to use it! A headrest can def help if you're taller - the cushion one is soft enough to provide even upper back support if you want it to sit there!
Great headrests, but unfortunately they will cause neck/back pain if the headrest can't be positioned between the shoulders and your neck. I have a size C Aeron and the suspension headrest was too tall for me, even at its lowest possible setting. I tried to make it work, but it just ended up giving me unbearable pain. 😫 Such a shame, as the build quality and design are fantastic.
Can’t lock into place, but you can crank it down and they offer some additional piece so you can really nail it down. I personally move mine around a lot so don’t like it locked right!

If you're talking about a seat cushion for the Mirra 2, I strongly advise against that. If you meant the cushion headrest foe the Mirra 2, they don't actually sell any headrests for other HM chairs atm.

Hey im wanting to buy one of these I'm just not sure which one would be better for me , I have the classic Herman Miller. I'm not a napper but I do have my chair constantly reclined back and I'm in my chair for 5 plus hours at times. Would one do you think would benefit me more ?

Hey! I don't have a comparison, but I wouldn't go vegan leather...it's the least breathable material and I feel the head gets the hottest (bc of hair!).

Yeah, I've found some posts on Reddit that confirm that. Definitely not something you expect to see, considering that the product is good and has been verified by renowned experts.
would an aeron size b with an atlas headrest, all from crandall, be a good investment for a 5'3 male who has had no luck with cheap chairs, and a sore neck?

Do I need a headrest? Does it help? Im a taller guy, 6'2, 6'3... Im using an Aeron Stool which is B size. The back frame is pretty low for my size, are there any comfort benefits with the headrest? Thanks!
One of the best headrests you'll ever use on a chair. I don't like using one when I'm sitting up, but only for when I lean back to relax. The headrest allows me to push it back and just barely tickles my hair when sitting up, and then I pull it forward a bit when I want to use it! A headrest can def help if you're taller - the cushion one is soft enough to provide even upper back support if you want it to sit there!
Great headrests, but unfortunately they will cause neck/back pain if the headrest can't be positioned between the shoulders and your neck.
I have a size C Aeron and the suspension headrest was too tall for me, even at its lowest possible setting. I tried to make it work, but it just ended up giving me unbearable pain. 😫
Such a shame, as the build quality and design are fantastic.

Does the headrest lock into place or do they move if too much pressure is put on them?
Can’t lock into place, but you can crank it down and they offer some additional piece so you can really nail it down. I personally move mine around a lot so don’t like it locked right!

If you're talking about a seat cushion for the Mirra 2, I strongly advise against that.
If you meant the cushion headrest foe the Mirra 2, they don't actually sell any headrests for other HM chairs atm.
How well does the new cushion headrest work with gaming headsets?
Same as the old - you can rest your head flat, but if you turn your head, it’ll hit the headrest!
