Milan must be such an amazing place to experience Italian fashion firsthand! It’s so great that Italian style can be both stunning and accessible. Do you have any favorite spots in Milan for finding those perfect pieces?
@ I usually wait for the summer sale which starts in July till mid of August… every big store and boutiques goes on sale. I also go to some of the outlets if you want to shop for designer pieces - Serravalle outlet is 1.5 hours from Milan…. Except for LV you get all the designer brands there
@@suelidey937 That sounds like such a smart way to shop for designer pieces-summer sales and outlets like Serravalle sound amazing! The only time I visited an outlet in Italy was Foxtown, but that was about 10 years ago. It’s great to hear about your experiences; I might have to plan another trip and explore these newer spots! 😘🥰❤️
@ You’re absolutely right! I always thought Foxtown was in Italy, but now that you mention it, it is indeed in Switzerland. Thanks for pointing that out! ☺️❤️
I'm Italian, living in London, I love modern French chic although I don't follow it slavishly. I always add a subtle personal touch (e.g. in the jewellery or a scarf) to make my outfit look different and express my individuality. I am 58 years young, it's sad to see younger women all looking the same. I'm happy with my wardrobe, which is full of chic modern classics, many of them have been with me for years and will last for many more. I find Italian style too heavy sometimes, too matronly and overdone, especially in women in mid-life and beyond. Also, they don't mix and match enough for my taste, I love dressing down more classic/expensive pieces and vice versa. I also far prefer elegantly sexy French style rather than the Italian bombshell look, I don't dress for men. As far as Italian brands go, I am partial to Prada/Miu Miu, some Gucci pieces and I'd love a Fendi baguette bag. PS I've lived in London since 1984, I love the fact that in the UK, nobody looks at you (at least not openly or disapprovingly) and you're free to wear what you like. When I see a stylish lady or man, I always compliment them, they are usually wearing quite simple outfits but look classy and put-together and that's the look I go for too.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful perspective! I love how you’ve embraced both modern French chic and your own individuality-it really shines through your description. I agree, classics with a personal twist always stand out beautifully. I wanted to mention that the same non-judgmental attitude you’ve experienced in the UK is very much alive in France as well-people celebrate individuality and elegance without judgment. Your style philosophy and love for timeless pieces are truly inspiring! 😻❤️
Milan fashion is truly iconic! The creativity and elegance it brings are unmatched. Do you have a favorite Milanese designer or trend you love the most?
Team Italy all the way! Italian style truly has such a unique blend of elegance and creativity. What’s your favorite Italian piece or brand that you can’t live without?
I dress like a French for my work and everyday life, because it's easygoing, refined and polished, but... When I go out it's always team Italy. I really like to have fun, feel confident, beautiful, desirable and sexy.
love how you blend French elegance for everyday life with Italian flair for nights out-it’s such a perfect balance! Italian style does bring that fun, effortless energy. 🥰❤️
love how you’ve blended the best of both worlds-French clothes and makeup paired with Italian accessories and shoes sound like such an elegant mix. Perfectly balanced style! ❤️
Thank you for this video. My own style mixes both because I grew up exposed to Mexico's fabulous bright colors in clothing, interior design and gardens. The colors lift and delight our lives. I also love the simple style of French clothing contrasted with their beautiful architecture and gardens. It's a balance of beautiful style we delight in. Seeking beauty, liveliness and that takes limits or restraint in my view.
Thank you so much for sharing your story! The way you’ve blended Mexico’s vibrant colors with the simplicity of French style sounds absolutely beautiful-it’s such a unique balance. Seeking beauty and liveliness is such an inspiring approach to fashion and life, I also like the idea using interiors for outfit inspiration, sounds amazing!!!😻
love how you put that, Kimberly! French elegance and Italian style truly complement each other beautifully. Combining the two is the best of both worlds-thank you for such a thoughtful comment! 😊
Thank you for this nice video. I am some where in between those styles. But in my job I prefer a more Italian style and private I am more on the French style side.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! It’s so interesting how you balance Italian style for work and French style in private-such a wonderful mix! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found it relatable! 🥰❤️
Let's not forget that big brands like Zara, Massimo Dutti, Mango have also introduced Spanish style into the rest of Europe and beyond, influencing many of us. For example I live in London but I have quite a few pieces from these brands, they definitely have a European feel rather than a British one. With online shopping and shipping worldwide, a lot of people dress in a similar way no matter where they are from. There are very few independent clothes shop, even in a big city like London. I used to be able to spot Italian tourists a few years ago - not anymore, they're all dressed the same as everybody else (sloppy, drab and casual mainly, which is sad). And what about Uniqlo and Japanese taste? and Scandinavian chic? I don't like the cutesy Japanese girl look, which seems to stem from quite a misogynistic culture, at least that's what my female Japanese friends have told me. I especially love those stylish, minimalist Scandi ladies, I love their simple but elegant look. But my favourite will probably always be French style, which I adapt and make my own.
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful insights! I completely agree that brands like Zara, Massimo Dutti, and Mango have had a huge influence on European style, creating a more unified aesthetic across regions. Your mention of Scandinavian chic is spot-on-there’s something so timeless about their minimal yet elegant approach. And I love how you adapt French style to make it uniquely yours; it’s such a beautiful way to express individuality in fashion. You’ve actually given me a great idea! Would you find a video exploring collections from brands like these-or even diving into the timeless appeal of Scandinavian or French chic-interesting? It could be fun to highlight how these styles influence wardrobes and how to make them personal, just like you do! 🥰❤️
I lived in Italy through my childhood and teenage years. People (family, family friends, including men) were constantly commenting on my and others' body and outfits. There was a lot of staring, criticism, gossiping, put-downs. If you dared look a bit different you had to put up with sarcastic comments (bullying) until you eventually gave in and dressed like everybody else just to have some peace. The worst was men (relatives, family friends) commenting about my weight, asking me all the time if I had a boyfriend, as a teenager who was going though a tough time and was not conventionally beautiful I found this so tactless, intrusive and unnecessary. Now I'm older I know that people who behave in this way are the ones with the problem. I'm blossoming in mid-life - and beyond hopefully! - really coming into my own and wearing the clothes I love. I am an independent lady with my own personal style that i love and that people compliment me on, including young people, which I take as a huge compliment. I never comment negatively on anybody's body, weight or look, if someone looks good or has made an effort to do so, even if I don't share their taste, I always pay them a compliment and it is heartfelt. Just a few words can make someone else feel good and spreads goodwill, confidence and kindness.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and experience-it’s incredibly insightful and moving. I’m shocked to hear about the pressure and criticism you faced growing up in Italy, but I’m so inspired by how you’ve blossomed into your own style and confidence now. Your approach to spreading kindness and compliments is such a beautiful reminder of how small acts can make a big difference. Thank you again for sharing-it’s truly inspiring! 🥰🥳❤️🤗

This is excellent food for thought! As a westerner, I have to say it largely depends on your personality and lifestyle as to which you might most prominently embrace. My sis is very French chic (in her own way), and I am rather more Bella Figura, loving all things hourglass and beautiful. Happily, I also love basics and she also loves bold color! But from youth I did not want to look stylish. I wanted to look beautiful!!! Thank you for this carefully constructed film topic. :)
Well said! Your comment is so thoughtful and insightful! It’s fascinating how personality and lifestyle shape our style choices. I love that you and your sister embrace such different aesthetics-French chic and Bella Figura are both so timeless and beautiful in their own ways. Your focus on wanting to feel beautiful resonates deeply, and it’s such an empowering perspective. Thank you for sharing this, it truly adds so much depth to the conversation! 🎉❤️🥰
Non conosco L’ inglese, ma solo guardando il Video non si capisce la differenza . A me sembrano uguali !!!
Thank you for sharing! Leaning French but finding a balance in between sounds like the perfect mix. French elegance combined with a bit of versatility creates such a unique and timeless style. Do you have any go-to pieces that embody this mix for you? 🤗😊
