    ► 03:14 - Why K&N Over CAI
    ⚠️ Note: The 3 to 5 degree air intake difference is when doing non-city driving.
    A review of one of the first parts I installed on my tC, the K&N Typhoon intake. I also talk about why I went with this style over a cold air intake and some things to think about if you're debating on getting a cold air intake yourself.

    I switched from the AEM CAI to this and I'm so happy I did. I kept getting water into my AEM filter but luckily not enough to hydro lock and the AEM CAI kept causing issues with my car who knows why. Switched to the K&N and honestly sounds better, I have no issues with my car anymore, and I no longer have that anxiety of driving in the rain. 10/10 would recommend this one too

      It's because some manufacturers didnt design their products in a way that the MAF would recognize the air flow as "normal". TRD, injen, k&n, supposedly keep your MAF happy.

    If all you want is performance then stick with a KN drop in filter. The after market Intake does absolutely nothing for performance, it just makes nice engine noises. The stock intake is not anywhere near restrictive. In an age where MPG are huge selling points, manufactures with billions in research and development did not overlook something a teen can do in a garage. Save your money, drop in filter will suffice.

    i got the TRD intake and honestly i really enjoy it. it’s not nearly as throaty sounding obviously but you get that inlet tub that kind of sits down by the fender. it keeps it looking stock underneath with a little spice with the red TRD. and goes with my TRD brace aswell

    Just for some intake info, I have the Injen CAI and I love it. So much more roar from the engine and seriously noticeable gains in the mid-range. Proven 8whp and 9lbs/ft on dyno gains. I think the 2.5L is seriously choked with the stock box.

      How's the low-end and off the line throttle response with the cold air intake? Do you see more of your power towards the higher RPMs?

    Actually have the ARM CAI, I was ready for the maintenance and it was actually a learning experience. I have never worked on a car before that mod so it helped me learn how to properly jack the car up use Jack stand etc. And with my AEM CAI I never three check engine lights but did have a short ram one that did when I bought the car from a friend

    How much extra HP does this add? I don’t know much about these things, google said cool air intake adds maybe 5-20hp? What would you say based on your experience?
    Also does it make it more efficient? My tC 2.5 averages around 24-25mpg as I do a lot of driving with it. Not the most notable resource, but a couple google searches said this could add 3/5mpg to the car, would you say you get a slight difference like this yourself?
    Thank you!🙏🏼

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  3 года назад +1

      It's difficult to tell how much HP I gained, but it's probably closer to 5 if you want to be realistic. Once you start adding on other modifications and possibly tuning the ECU, you might be able to get a little more. I don't remember what my gas mileage was back then, but I think it did improve.

    Honestly glad I came across this, I bought a 2013 Scion tC tht came with a short ram intake and it’s missing the shield he was talking about removing Thts in front of the wheel to maintain the cold air intake and was gonna buy one but was just doing my research and found out tht it would probably hydro lock on me and it’s my first car so yeah don’t want tht to happen. So might actually buy this instead
