6/8/24: To jazz mine up, I don’t necessarily use decorative papers for the front of my books. I print out pictures I like from Pinterest, like old magazine covers of celebrities from back in the day (Vanity Fair, In-Style, Vogue, Bazaar, and even Playboy! - for my guy friends who like that stuff, LOL!), and some current celebrities too. They actually wind up looking like mini magazines when done and they're definitely a conversation piece! I've even used personalized pictures of people I know (singles, couples, kids, family photos w/the dog, etc.) that I download in my computer and print out. And for kids, I print their favorite cartoon characters (Disney), or singing person/group, etc. (also from Pinterest). I size and cut them at 4.4" (height) by 3.15 (width) and glue them to the front cover w/2-sided tape around the edges of the pic and then Art Glitter glue all around it and in the middle. (We know how important it is to glue them down tight.) I then glue decorative papers to the back cover of the book and inside covers with the same method. I sometimes put small square or diagonal pockets on the inside cover. I love how yours came out; they all look so pretty, but the only thing I'd do different is, the decorative paper where it’s butted up against the black strip, I’d add a strip of bling right down the middle in between the black strip and decorative paper from top to bottom to give it some pop and then go to town decorating the rest! I get my bling from Amazon, and I use them religiously. So, from one crafter to another, it's an idea I thought I'd share, but no matter which way we doll them up, they come out looking SO nice. You'd never think they started from The Dollar Tree! Thanks for sharing yours. It was fun to watch! ❤
I will have to check my backstock of these notebooks. I like how you make yours. One of the things I do to mine is add a pocket on the front and back. Then I add a few blank tags. Good price point
So many people I k ow want me to do a craft fair. But in what I make i never felt like I would have enough options. Your videos have such great ideas! Specially for smaller items like the fur pencils and these note books. It has me wondering if i could do a craft fair if i added things similar to these ideas. Ill have to put my thinking cap on, but thanks for all these tips!❤
I hope you get some inspiration from my channel! I like having some lower priced items because it brings people to the table. You'll have to let me know if you end up doing a craft fair and how you did. Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you! Getting some things ready for an upcoming craft show and i will absolutely be adding some of these❤ im new to the whole craft fair scene, thank you for sharing❤
Love the way you cover your notebooks!!! I too STRUGGLE with the placement and have ruined several notebooks. I finally just gave up! Maybe this way will be a better fit for me! TYSMFS Shanda. Happy to sat I am a new subscriber!🤭
I have actually used both but typically I use cardstock. What I noticed with the decorative type paper (the thinner one) is if I don't tape every inch underneath then it tends to bubble when you move the notebook around. If you tape it wel it will work. I just feel like the cardstock (heavier one) is more durable. I hope I answered your question ♡
Actually, I do that because the front piece and the inside piece meet at the same place. If I make the inside cover longer then it's more likely to show when I make mistakes. For example... when the notebook is closed and I've made a mistake and the paper doesn't fit properly, you can see white sticking out above the edge of the notebook. So, I make the front meet the back to lessen the chances of this happening. If you are really good at being precise I would definitely recommend making it cover more on the inside. But don't go too close to the paper because it prevents it from closing. I sure hope that makes sense Lol! You are welcome ♡
@cassandramiller4390 Hi... I use Scor tape and tape runner. I will put the links below. Hope that helps 🙂 *Scor-Tape Double Sided Adhesive: a.co/d/hG2d2F6 *Adtech 05603 Glue Runner Permanent: a.co/d/7UuHbNu
I see the scor tape and tape runner you used in the video but it sounded like you weren’t worried about the use on these so you chose those products and if you were working on a book that would have a lot of use, like your gratitude journals, you might use a stronger option? Do you use a different adhesive on the gratitude journals?
@cassandramiller4390 I'm so sorry! I didn't understand what you asked the first time. Okay, so on the mini notebooks I only use Scor tape along the black binder, then I used tape runner for the rest. When making my Journals I use Scor tape for the whole thing. Along all of the edges and the middle, because I feel like Scor tape is stronger than tape runner. That's what I was trying to say. I'm not the best at delivery sometimes Lol. Please let me know if this answers your question ♡
That's a good question but it's kinda hard to explain through text. I'll try to explain.... When I first started making these I tried covering the whole inside but had trouble with the inside (which is white) showing on the front due to overhang and not being aligned perfectly. I was not good yet at cutting the overhang straight so it was easier for me to match the front and inside to end at the same place, less chance for error. I am better at aligning and trimming the overhang now that I've had more practice so I do make the inside cover more than in this video. You do also have to consider not going too close to the paper line because that prevents them from closing all the way. I hope that makes sense Lol 😊
Good idea. I’m going to try this & add a thumb notch to the inside cover folds & convert the inside to tucks. 😊😊
I have done this to my bigger journals. I love pockets ♡
Thanks for sharing I can’t wait to make some🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for sharing the tutorial

cute notebooks nice way to line up the paper. tfs I am a new subscriber
You are welcome! Thank you ♡
Thanks so much!

So cute! Do you use the heavier paper for covering or does the thinner paper work also?

So cute and simple. Is there a reason why you don’t cover the whole inside cover? TFS

@@SimpleCreationsByShanda makes sense. thank you
Wondering if you package them or just leave them as is?
I do not package these. I just arrange them all in a basket for display 😊
I package mine and place a color coordinated mini pen I get from The Dollar Tree.
What type of adhiesive do you use on the notebooks that will be used frequently, like you're gratitude journals?

Is there a reason yo don't cover the whole inner flap
