- Governor Gavin Newsom is warning California counties to move faster in addressing the homelessness crisis or risk losing state funding. The governor said he is “out of patience” and emphasized that stronger local implementation of CARE Court is needed to move people off the streets and into treatment and housing.

Not all, but around 95 percent do. People who are clean and clear headed have friends/family/programs to fall back on, and if they do find themselves outdoors there are programs aplenty (that they jump right on) to get them housed quickly.

I'm in the Bay Area right now and can tell you there is no housing for homeless people. The shelters and temp housing are all full. The waitlist will supposedly take weeks to months. The shelters are too crowded and dangerous. The money did not go to the homeless. Newsom insists on a solution that spends alot of money to house one tenth of problem while leaving the other 9 people out in the streets. Newsom and the counties are both to blame. Instead of pointing fingers, they need to radical change how the approach the problem with what limited resources are left after the real estate developers and non-profits have stolen the money.
