  • The newly appointed ministers and deputies will now be entitled to some state-owned properties which come at the cost of taxpayers. Newzroom Afrika's Juniour Khumalo is now at the BMW Fountains Circle in Pretoria looking at some of the vehicles that the new executives might be driving in.

    A budget of R700k is plenty enough, the fact that they dont stick to it is crazy. They could get Tiguans, Tiggo 8 Pros, Havak H6s or Hyundai Tucson. And no bullet proof. Maybe then they'll understand the need for the country to have a competent police force.

    The cars used by previous ministers should be passed down, not all getting new cars. Those who were already ministers don't need new cars. Use the money for service delivery

      What i khow is that a true leader is Selfless but the ones we have they're very much greedy. True leaders would be saying "No, i have my salary and the security, why not take other benefits and provide services for the people who actually voted for me" But nooo!     Some people in rural areas have no excess to water or toilets, and kids get taught under trees; yet Ministers are given R2 million vehicles and expensive estate housing and we expect them to understand the struggles of ordinary people.
    That's why once they're in politics, they want to stay in politics until they die

    During the Apartheid era Civil Servants used to drive around in Toyota Cressida's, I don't see why it should be any different now.
    If these corrupt trough feeders sort out the judiciary there will be no need for B6 armoured vehicles (paid for in full by me).
    I don't get awarded these privileges and it is me who has to pay for them!
    The whole system is corrupt and rotten!

    I didn't cast my vote so that ministers can drive fancy cars whilst I don't own a car myself and live in a fancy house whilst I rent and pay the bond of someone else's apartment
    I voted so that they can fix our country. Surely there are more affordable vehicles for them to be driving

Let them call the police just like every one else. If we are all equal under the law then why does it favor the elite and the ordinary citizens have to foot the bill...     This is absolutely disgusting. Its evil actually. Politicians and leaders are servants to the citizens, how can the one who serves live luxuriously than the one being served. Clearly our politicians don't understand what leadership is and what it's all about. The former president of Burkino Faso, Thomas Sankara, sold all luxurious state owned vehicles, reduced ministers' perks drastically in order to elevate poverty, reduce illiteracy rate in his country to better improve the economy of Burkino Faso, and it did under his leadership. Here in SA, we have it twisted, we have ministers and a president who live like kings and queens for nothing, none of their ministries performed well for the past 20 years or so. Ministers and our president are paid to scounder money. Very shameful.

    There is absolutely no reason why the ministers cant be driven in Nissans or Toyota Corolla's & Hyundai's as well as VW's. 2nd hand. They should pay for their own electricity, water etc These bums cannot be living off us like this, Everymonth i have to see a portion of my hard earned money going to afford these people the soft life. Kenyan's showed their government, if this buffoonery continues we will have to remind our govement that they work for us.
