Why Load Calc?

Some contractors don't think you need to do a load calculation when changing your system. Well that is true if you don't want it done correctly. Every change out and home deserves a load calculation. If done along with testing you can identify problems with the home and the ductwork, allowing you to develop solutions to correct them and give you the comfort your paying for.

Does wrightsoft do load calc on server rooms and commercial applications. Is there training courses to navigate around the software?

ACCA offers wrightsoft training and yes the commercial Manual N does do server rooms. To calculate the load on the server room you need to know how many watts the servers are consuming. Total up the watts for all the servers and then multiply by 3.142 which is the amount of heat the servers should be expending. For example a couple of 1,000 watt power supplys will total up to 2000 watts which equated to over a half ton of cooling just for the room.

Is a flow hood the only way you can measure air flow ?

Yes there are several ways to measure airflow. Here is a link to a video on just that, and he even uses a trash bag and timer to measure the airflow through a duct.
