      Freemindthinker or feeblemindthinker? Your comment is just a foolish combination of streotypes. In fact, statistically priests are way lower as sex offenders compared with, common occupations like male public school teachers, and coaches of minors, this is statistical fact anyone with a brain can verify.

      @@rdurl5086 The point being made is that the arbiters of morality weren't in fact very moral. Not all priests were abusers and not all priests would have objected to Jayne Mansfield. It was the bishops who were the biggest offenders as they were the ones who covered up and moved pedophile priest to other parishes thus giving then access to more children. The same bishops would have instructed a parish priest that it wasn't appropriate for a woman of 'ill repute' to flaunt herself in their town.

While the rest of the western world progressed in so many different ways, in say the last 100 years, you folks were still in the fuckin' dark ages. Also the finding your'e feet as an independent country is bizarre, seeing how the scum had youse eating out of their hands for about 15 centuries before Irish independence. They didn't need to take their chance at all. They were leading youse round like a mindless mob of sheep, merrily bleating when the priests, bishops and cardinals tell ya's too, and following their every command. I'm sorry really mate if I sound a bit ill mannered as it's not my intention, it just makes me so angry, as the Irish worldwide have contributed so much to their adoptive countries (I have Irish ancestry),and it's pained me how the church retarded Irish progress, and had so much power with the government for so long. Went through lean times re-establishing Industry. The Italian Church already had a strong presence due to lack of a self sufficient economy, as The Crown had sucked resources and capital out of "England's Garden". Needed time to rebuild and grow a self sufficient economy. Then Ireland joined the EEC in the 70's and suddenly had access to an open and dynamic trading area. This brings us to the current good GDP numbers today, which is kryptonite to the Italian Church.

That would have been a challenging time, post independence, so yea, they did take their chance as you said. I'm so glad, from what I understand, that Ireland has progressed so much in recent years, and the Italian mafia mob are losing their grip. In my country, Australia, it's dying a slow death. For example, back in the day they had an endless supply of Irish catholic decent folks lining up to be priests, brothers and nuns. That just stopped, so they started to get them from Ireland again, like in former times. That supply has ended, so now they get them from devout third world countries, e.g. African, which they still have their talons locked onto. Theres also a huge drop in church attendance, with parishes shutting down every where. Three out of the four that were once in my area. Anyway stay well KM.

During her brief heyday in the 1950's she had a happy marriage and a thriving career. When the 50's where gone, Jayne's whole persona became increasingly out of place and outdated. MM passed away, and that whole blonde bombshell era was over and Jayne was left like a glamorous relic of another time. She was still young and still pretty but she would have been better off ditching the bombshell persona and dying her hair and becoming a character actress like Sheree North did.

      Reports that Mansfield was decapitated are untrue, although she suffered severe head trauma. This urban legend started with the appearance in police photographs of the crashed car with its top virtually sheared off, and what resembled a blonde-haired head tangled in the car's smashed windshield. However, the blonde object was a wig Mansfield was wearing, and possibly parts of her real hair and scalp.

    • @calisongbird
      @calisongbird 2 года назад +2

      Jayne was not “decapitated” in the car accident. But the truth is even more grisly:
      “After the Buick Electra crashed into the truck, it slid under the back of the trailer, shearing off the top of the car.
      Police rushed to the scene to find Mansfield’s three children alive in the backseat. The accident instantly killed the three adults in the front seat and also killed Mansfield’s dog. Police declared the actress dead on the scene.
      As news of the grisly accident went public, rumors swirled that the crash decapitated Jaynes Mansfield.
      The Jayne Mansfield death photos released after the accident added fuel to the rumors. Her wig had been thrown from the car, which in some pictures made it look as though her head had been cut off.
      According to police, Mansfield suffered a gruesome - though near-instantaneous - death. The police report taken after the accident states that “the upper portion of this white female’s head was severed.”
      Mansfield’s death certificate confirms that she suffered a crushed skull and a partial separation of her cranium, an injury more akin to a scalping than total decapitation. But the beheading story remains oft-repeated, even finding its way into the 1996 movie Crash.
      Another rumor followed on the heels of Mansfield’s alleged beheading. Gossip hounds said that the starlet, who had been in a relationship with Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey, was killed by a curse LaVey put on her boyfriend Brody.
      Despite her blonde-bombshell facade, she was, in fact, a highly accomplished woman, having mastered five languages and learned both the violin and piano. She even claimed to have an IQ of 163. However, given the position of women in the 1950s and '60s, she was well aware of the fact that the public cared far more about her body than about her brain.
      She's even quoted as declaring, "they're more interested in 40-21-35."
