Excellent. I was always having issues with slight glow around the subject, and had such a hard time cleaning it up. This is by far the best idea I've seen. Thanks a lot, really appreciate it :).
Fantastic tutorial! Super helpful. I'm getting more into green screen editing for some of my new video projects, and I was getting a little discouraged after spending hours trying to get my green screen setup to be absolutely perfect with no wrinkles, just the right amount of lighting, reducing shadows, and so on to make the editing process smoother, but this looks like a decent solution for if the original recording isn't absolutely immaculate. I'll have to give this method a try next. Thanks!
omg this is next level editing and EXACTLY what I needed i'm so glad i stumble upon your vid it is really well explained you have no ideia of how much it helped me Keep up the great word :D
I don't seem to have all the composite options you have. I'm at doing the cut at 14:39. I'm working with Movie Studio Platinum 14.0. Is that option not available in this version?
Great, loved the detail. Just makes you think about taking more care to get the lighting right in the first place to save all this trouble! I can see this being handy for getting the edges spot on, thanks.
Wow...this was incredibly helpful! I did my best to iron and light my green screen and I thought all was still lost. But you have solved my problems! Thank you so much. :)
Great tutorial, been using it all the time lately! Also completely unrelated but you sound sooooo similar to the streamer/youtuber DumbDog it's crazy 😂
I was having a lot of trouble with the chroma key because the subject was turning slightly transparent no matter what I did. I followed your tutorial and had similar issues but managed to figure out a solution. Going from about 13:40 instead of creating a new background greenscreen I made the bottom video the composite child of the top one, with composite mode of the top one on cut and sliding the levels slider on the left all the way over to 100% I managed to get a decent cutout of my subject. Tweaking FX settings of both videos gave me a decent result which I could really get any other way. I was basically just messing with settings so I'm not sure why this works but ya. If anyone else is having trouble with a similar issue I hope this helps, I'm on Vegas Pro 15 so things could be different if you're using a different version.
Really enjoyed this. I used this for a green screen I did for a client. The Ignite plug in is very good BTW. It is built into Vegas Effects. It just didn't make a perfect edge. I used this and you saved the day. Thanks

can you rescale yourself with a green screen background? In your example you are "big" but if I want myself in a corner (like picture in picture) and with a background video. In your example I will not see a (full) background video because you are too big in this example. So I want to resize myself so you can see more of background video. Because shrinking makes that the green screen is not covering the full background anymore. Hope you understand my question.
The green screen backdrops they sell are too dark! They are a medium to dark green that take a ton of light to make bright. Would someone please post where to get a bright green backdrop to begin with.
Adam, I see that you recommend rendering out before applying the final key. Besides saving on processing power, how would this compare to employing this technique on a nested timeline and then applying the final key in the master project? Wouldn't you avoid losing a generation by eliminating the render? Or, am I missing some unintentional consequences that would result by using a nested timeline? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Nested should work. It's mostly because i was making a canned green screen. Also, it's a good back since ny that point, you're project (nested or not) is getting a lot of layers which makes it easier to screw up
Hi, I spent two or three hours on your green screen videos and couldn't get this to work. Instead of getting a solid white outline, everything was white except for my black glasses, my mouth and my nostrils. I just couldn't get them to disappear like your glasses and your mouth did. I tried all the level adjusters on all the different Fx elements one at a time and it just wouldn't work. Not sure what I did wrong. 😬
That can happen. You can isolate different parts and combine them later. You can try to make just your glasses white layer it with your main one. Ill link a video
@@TechDiveAVCLUB Thanks, I just upgraded to Vegas Post 19 with your affiliate link, so hopefully you'll get a few shekels. Do you happen to know if the Boris Primatte Studio is built in to the Continuum package or is it a separate install file?
Hi Adam, great video as always. I have some time now to edit my videos and I want to change the background in some. Months ago, maybe even a year ago, you sent me a video on how to do that with model trains. Like an idiot I didn't save it. Do you mind sending me that link again or explaining how I can add background photos (or video) to my train videos? You might have a video yourself, but I don't know what it would be called. Many thanks and happy holidays! -Mark

@@TechDiveAVCLUB Thanks for the offer, that's very nice of you. I'm keeping it very simple for now. The png trick works really well so far. I've added moving clouds to my background while the train passes a camera on a tripod. I'm not brave enough to try a moving camera shot yet. :) Happy new year!
The result looks great - but you just are a bad teacher. You don't explain the steps. It looks like you are experimenting while you present. You need to prepare your clip, explain all the mouse clicks and all the steps you did. By "preparing" I mean: Go through all the steps BEFORE you produce a video tutorial!!! I hope this helps you.
Assuming you have the money and desire to buy it. You can solve any problem with enough cash, this shows you how to do it with basic tools. It yeah, an easier tool would be welcome.
