- I've been giving the new RST X-Raid textile suit a good test over the last three months and several hundred miles of riding. The video look at its materials and construction as well as my view on what it's like to wear and ride in....

A zip to connect the jacket, never knew how that feature is appreciated until you get a jacket and pants combo that has it.
I wanted to pick up a set of these of when I was suppose to go to the UK for a work-holiday trip, i.e. Isle of Mann and work a tour in Scotland
All that got cancelled.
Hopefully next year all will be better.
Since I live in shorts and t shirts despite the weather these are perfect for putting on over those on a motorcycle, Thats is what I do here in California it can be cold and wet in the morning hot in the afternoon and get cold again at sunset.
Certainly a handy feature. Hopefully the current craziness won't last for too long and you can get over here. I'd swap weather for a little while at the moment!

its cold and rainy here this week, last Thursday is rained enough to flood the streets, yep first day of Spring.
I'm taking advantage of the time off, sorting out the camera stuff I don't need or use anymore ( i.e. selling it on eBay) and catching up on the book I've been procrastinating doing, well the three books I want to do.
Great review. This will definitely be my 1sy suite when I get on the road later on this year
Thanks, I've got the new RST Pathfinder laminate to test, so will be putting a review out soon. The X-Raid has been superb though
Hope dinner was good :) nice review , cheers fella
Ha! its wasn't for me just my son and my wife lol
Views from the Man Cave ... :) nice bit of domestic reality in these strange times. Take care fella 👍
Hi just bought mine and even with the neck warmer removed I still find the neck a tight fitting, rest of the jacket fitted me fine
Great review - cheers mate
Cheers
brilliant review
Thank you
Good review, thanks! Considering buying one of these, as my set of oxfords gave up on a recent trip. Is the detachable pocket waterproof as well? Would you advise going 1 size up on the jacket? Any more niggles after 5 more months of usage?
Thanks, and yes it is! I wouldn't advise going up a size i'm at the top end of a 46 and I think going up a size would have given too much loose material maybe. Its warm enough that even in winter I only usually wear a long sleeve base layer under the jacket
Thanks for the indepth review, being a bit short [long arms] in the sleeve would concern me. Actually i'm looking at the rst pathfinder, seems well speced for the price. I note you have plans to review it?
Yes this was the only downside to the x-raid, but it was liveable. Yes hoping to get a pathfinder review out soon
@@mancavemoto Looking forward to that review.
I might just have a look at the trousers, my Triumph branded Triumph outlet bargain jacket is still going strong! I’m getting a bit fed up with the riding jeans and waterproof over trouser combination.
Yep worth a look
Views from the Man Cave My birthday next month, I have put my feelers out!
I have the rst adventure and it seems to be very similar to the x-raid. I find it to be a great textile suite as well. I also find it a bit tight on the neck but may be if i took the neck warmer of the jacket it would be fine. Rst seem to have come on in leaps in bounds
Yep, their new stuff is really good (not that the old stuff was bad of course)
Considering these to compliment my RST leather jacket. Mainly for long rides where I'm likely to encounter inclement weather etc. How did you find sizing? I'm a small (UK30) in my RST leather pants, figure the textile sizing will be similar? Cheers.
Yep RST seem to be pretty consistent with their sizing
Does it dry out fairly quickly? If you’re touring would it dry overnight for example?
Yes it’s pretty good, dries out better than my old Paragon 5 suit
Quality video. Thank you!
No problem, glad you like it
Good review !!!
Cheers
Good review
But for me drop lining jackets are becoming old hat now. Laminated stuff is so much more convenient if maybe a little more inflexible in construction. But I'm fine with that.
Shame as a good looking suit too.
There are a a couple of laminate suit reviews in the works it the moment 😉
Would you get the likes of the RST Paragon 6 gloves on under the cuff off the jacket ?
At a push, but i've tended to hear the gloves over the top as its much more comfortable
Do you think the pants would be uncomfortable on a more sport touring bike such as the new tracer 9 GT?
No not at all, I wore them on a KTM 1290 SpuerDuke and the Honda CB650R and they were fine
Views from the Man Cave I didn’t listen about the sleeves.... lol. Got the jacket and the sleeves are way to short for my lanky self.... trying to figure out if I want to try size up or just order an adventure-x.... ordering from the states so i don’t have the option to try on..
Great review - informative and down to earth. I liked the background music!
Andrew Tunnicliffe Thanks Andrew
Do you wear the trousers over your normal trousers or jeans?
No, they are worn like normal trousers
Thanks, and thanks for the quick reply!@@mancavemoto
Where do you get the accessorie bag from? Thanks.
You can order them from RST directly www.rst-moto.com/rst-cargo-pouch.html
Fuck the jacket! Where did you get the flannel shirt?
Hello Jay, hows it going bud? The shirt is from 'Vans'
Views from the Man Cave all good mate. Enjoying having decent weather while “working” from home 🏍
I agree about the background music whilst you are talking. Totally unnecessary. Good review.
Fair enough, and thanks
No good if sleeves are short
They are manageable
Nice-looking suit, but I wonder how long the waterproof membrane will last. I only trust Gore-Tex. The irritating background music ruined this for me. Why do you bother with it?
Only time will tell, but i've had no issue with a previous suit which is several years old? I've used background music on a few videos, sometimes I think it works when there isn't a face talking directly to camera. Not everyone thinks the same I guess.
@@mancavemoto Man , it's funny how many people were irritated by background music , I didn;t even noticed it , I was focusing on the more important aspects of this review , thanks!
Yep I got some grief for my Tiger 900 review recently
