    Wish thinkware made a seperate "box" style like this!
    Another thing Manufacturers should consider is a Horn trigger wire.
    Since most peoples reaction during an incident is to honk the horn, it can be used to trigger a "Saved" recording.
    Likewise, during parking mode, it can be used to trigger a parking mode event recording if, for example , the Car Alarm is triggered but the incident doesn't trigger the dashcam . Most car alarms use the horn anyways. This would be a great feature i think!

      Agreed, this system is more straightforward than the multiplexer!
      Tying manual recording to a horn or car alarm is quite a neat idea!

    If only it was 4 channel capable. Having two interior cameras for front and rear with the wide view range just adds to the coverage. I had two DR750X with the rear IR cam. So I basically used the two main cams for the front and rear exterior views and the two rear IR cams for the front and rear interior views. I had separate backup batteries for both sets so they could run without utilizing my car battery. I also used the largest SD cards possible for maximum storage. The 3CH design is a step up. Just hope they come out with the 4CH soon!

    What do you think of newly released cameras still being 1080p? Is that resolution really clear enough compared to the many new 2.5 ans 4K cams? Or do you think the FPS is more important?

    • @P_RO_
      @P_RO_ Год назад +1

      Both matter. The problem still is that one procesor/card can only handle a set amount of data, and till that improves we're stuck with choosing between multiple good cams or average multi-channel cams.

    • @Kal-el23
      @Kal-el23 Год назад

      @@P_RO_ That's why I'm surprised that something like this isnt higher quality since I'd assume all of the processing is done on the unit itself and can make it as big as they want for accommodating a larger processor, cooling etc.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      The majority of 3-channel systems like this are recording in 1080p with their cameras like this system, juggling all 3 feeds on one SD can make higher resolutions more difficult. It very much depends on the situation you are driving in, when it comes to everyday city driving 1080p should be plenty for capturing what's needed, with the 60fps of the front unit noticing the quick details on bustling streets.
      With that being said, in more highway situations at higher speeds, 4k footage can be useful to make out details like license plates.

    • @Kal-el23
      @Kal-el23 Год назад +1

      @@blackboxmycar That makes sense. There's a lot to handle when writing to the cards. For me personally I'm less concerned with license plates on the highway than I am with the clarity of parking mode and if someone backs up into my car etc and seeing the plate then. I wish they'd come out with a system that could use an SSD instead and have a separate box like this so you can add more channels. That way you have the processing power separate from the camera units and something that is likely way more faster than the SD cards to write larger footage too. If you want to get the footage off the camera then you could still use the app or they could let you plug into the box with a laptop for faster speeds or let you remove the SSD -- there are plenty of external enclosures for example. I know you're getting into regular DVR territory then but I"m sure people would buy it if they could get a 360 degree view in high quality for their vehicles.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      Quite the interesting idea! Ultimately, big ships turn slowly, and the box is plenty of innovation as-is. Still, there is definitely a real intersted in SSD systems as you've described. Here's a homebrew off-loading program for BlackVue's, though fair warning it's 3rd party and complex: espenandersen.no/personal-dashcam-server-with-emby/

    I like that the main unit isn’t on the windshield because the sun can really shine down bright on hot days and make the camera fail. Im interested in getting this camera system but wonder about the pricing of the individual cameras in case they need to be replaced.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      Agreed, it's nice that the main unit can stay cool in the shade! BlackVue does have a history of offering individual rear cameras sold separately in the past with previous units, however it's a bit too early in the life of the camera to say with certainty this will be offered, especially as the individual cameras are such unique units.

    I just purchased this camera, but am in the process of exchanging it to hopefully resolve an annoying issue. This may sound weird to some people, but during daylight hours, something about this camera setup picks a weird static noise that is present in parking mode live view or recorded videos. I have downloaded MANY clips and can attest that this noise is only present during daylight hours, but seems to go away at night until early morning. I've heard other people mention this same issue, but I think I've narrowed it down to when it happens. I also get LOTS of motion detections with this setup even though my motion sensitivity is set to 1 and my region settings ARE very restricted down to 2 selection boxes per camera in low traffic areas. I had these same setting on my Blackvue DR900x, but never even got a fraction of the detections I'm getting now. Lastly, the temperatures have been very cold in area, but the box unit seems to get hotter than I'd expect. I know Blackvue cameras can run hot, but I didn't think it would run this hot at this time of the year. Hopefully, these issues get resolved when the new camera arrives, but if they don't I'm afraid I'll have to return it.

    Just installed mine in my vehicle yesterday and one thing I immediately notices: in the glovebox it got really warm. No included instructions on how the SOS button works (main reason I am here watching this video) and too-sensitive-for-me “crash detection. It can’t be adjusted. And lastly no indication of the supplied SD card status. Is it being used - dunno. No info on the app.
    Overall it’s fine. I wish it had more info on these things.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      The feedback on this unit is greatly appreciated! Especially in these early days. BlackVue 3-channel cameras do naturally run a bit hotter, but we are expecting this unit to be ideal in high heat situations, so let us know if the heat does become a concern. As for the SOS, it's a bit simple, so that's likely why there's not much instruction, but to be clear it's just used to trigger manual recording and mark footage with a press. The crash detection does have detailed sensitivity options, arguably the most detailed out of our brands. This will be found under event triggers in the settings. As for the SD card status, there is not a way to see how much of the SD card is being used and so on, but honestly the camera wouldn't function without a properly working SD card, and the box would be plenty loud if it was not actively recording. Checking the playback of the camera in-app will show the most recently recorded videos if you are looking to check in on it.

  • @icloudchris
    @icloudchris Год назад +2

    Awesome! My previous comment made this video LOL... isn't the point of a separate box to stay hidden? once a thief cuts the cord it will let them know where the box is from the alert noises blaring. I do like each camera having extra security features built in - stereo shop would always pull cords out when installing and never plug cables back in even with unit on its own battery pack. Why?

    • @jmackinjersey1
      @jmackinjersey1 Год назад +1

      Even if they were to find the box, they can't access it easily. If you install it correctly, there will be screws holding it to the vehicle and there are metal straps screwed to the box that cover the wire connections.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      Glad you could be included in the video :). Yes, the purpose of the box is mainly to stay hidden and passive, but once there's been aggression to the cameras it moves to a deterrent based defense instead. Jmack is totally right, and the main unit itself is tamper-proof in it's own right, even if they were able to take the box out of where it was, the SD card is behind it's own tamper-proof system, and so are the cables.
      As for why the stereo shops never plug things back, I wouldn't surprised if they try to stay as far away from anything they aren't thoroughly familiar with, hell, our installer does the same with baby seats when he takes them out to finish an install XD.

    Question? will this unit overheat less since we will be able to store the box somewhere in the car where its much cooler vs the windshield? Seeing that the box is the brain of the whole thing, im wondering if that will finally be solved, i have a DR750S-2CH dashcam that shuts down when it gets too hot on thw windshield, on summer days i can forget about having any security within minutes of stepping out of my car in parking mode lol, however when i am driving the camera is forced to stay on even if its hot. It just randomly restarts its self.

      That's very much our thoughts on these models! The main box system is covered in ventilation, and is very spacious for giving the hardware space to breathe. Staying out the windshield as well is expected to seriously help with keeping the unit cool too. BlackVue units can struggle with the heat, so we hope this will be the answer.

    I can’t even use both channels during parking mode, with my cellink neo back up battery.. using my 750lte 2ch.. so I have to disable the rear camera during parking mode, in the settings.
    so having 3 cameras will take even more power only making it useful in non parking mode.
    Can all 3 cameras start recording when it detects motion in parking mode? Interior cam too?
    If so, What’s the battery life when all 3 cameras are used during parking mode?
    I’m just waiting for cameras to have an ultra low battery consumption mode, allowing a full 24 hours using 2 channels, on a single charge of the battery bank.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      Yes, it's true that these models can be a bit power hungry at times in parking mode. All 3 cameras can record and detect motion in parking mode, including the interior. There are settings in the camera to turn off parking mode for the interior or rear if preferred.
      In parking mode, this 3-channel system will draw an average of Avg. 610mA / 12V. Drawing from a modern battery size such as the PowerCell 8(7500 mAh) it is likely to supply power for 15 hours of parking mode. Of course, there are other factors when it comes to power draw and so on. For more detailed information on that, it can be found at the bottom of our parking mode guide here: www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/parking-mode

    Question, I see you exported the IR footage from a third party YT video instead of showing your own samples: do you know if during the day, at sun light the IR cabin camera footage will be in black and white (night mode)? I saw footage from the DR750 IR that kind of looks black and white during both day and night. I was waiting for this review to see some samples with the IR cam,
    also, is putting that box In the glove compartment or trunk storage a problem with lack of ventilation for the box unit?
    One of the reasons I want the box is to mitigate the main brains being roasted on the windscreen during peek summer,
    hope you ca help, I’m still debating between this or the DR970 2ch LTE with a separate unit for the interior. Both setup have pros and cons.
    I know the VIOFO 3 channel records in color during the day but no cloud features but I would hate if the BOX IR cam is always shooting in IR mode /B&W footage.
    Thanks so much for any feedback you can provide.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад +1

      Very fair! We did not use our own IR samples. I've directly tested out a unit to confirm this, and the IR LEDs of the interior camera appear to be always on at all times. This will result in discoloured video compared to non-IR video. At this time there is not an option to turn off the IR LEDs in the settings.(The VIOFO A139 will turn on/off the IR LEDS automatically, and can be adjusted in the settings) We do not suspect this unit to have any issues when it comes to placement and ventilation, as looking over the internals of the box, the hardware has plenty of space to breathe, and is covered in it's own ventilation. I would strongly recommend this unit to avoid overheating compared to other models.

    is it a subscription with this dashcam or a monthly payment should have to record the videos. can it be connected to the car's internet/wifi instead of monthly CM100LTE connectivity? my car has internet connectivity.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  9 месяцев назад

      Recording footage to the cloud is done on a free plan which is rather comprehensive, however there are paid plan options. The majority of users stick to the free plan. As for the internet connection from a CM100 LTE, that is done through an inserted SIM card, which you are normally paying monthly for through BlackVue directly or through your cell-service provider. If you provide outside wifi source, your cell-service provider will likely charge monthly for that, but that depends on them.

    One of the least talked about features in my opinion is the remote button that comes with the 770x and 970x Plus box units for starting manual recordings. Why isn't that button able to be used with other Blackvue cameras? I drive a nice sized truck and I hate having to lean forward while driving to tap my camera (which is hidden well) to start a manual recording.

    The problem I face with car cams in the hot climate , is that when parked under hot sunlight the unit will auto shut down when it is too hot. Will this box concept solve it by keeping the cpu somewhere cooler?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  5 месяцев назад

      That's the idea! Dash cams that sit on the windshield will absorb much of the heat shone down on them. The box model can be installed in a cooler environment, plus it can handle heat better internally with a wider body and better ventilation

    I’ve owned two different Blackvue cameras over the years with love and hate results. The new app design sucks and the camera models still don’t offer anything that can capture door dings and vandals who key your car from the side. Thanks for the feedback! Once you get 4+ cameras in one system, things do tend to get a bit complicated, more so when you are looking to have these cameras mounted to the exterior on all vehicles in a generalized way. This DR770X Box camera is definitely a step in that direction, and I can see setups where the 3 wide angle lenses offer some type of coverage in that regard.
      Thinkware has released the Thinkware multiplexer system that does offer what you've described, though it can be very complicated. For a more in-depth look, check out our video here: ruclips.net/video/g4lXtxmgsTs/видео.html

      Thanks for the feedback! We've yet to see a dash cam offer the ability to add an external drive, but it would likely be easiest with this system, as it doesn't hang off the windshield. The manual recording bluetooth button will mark a 1-minute clip. If wired for parking mode, this camera can fully record when the vehicle is off for traffic stops and after accidents.

I'm thinking say someone put this in the glove box with a battery pack that wouldn't be smart would it? Cause they both get hot. Also unless blackvue sign a license saying they're the only ones who can do this design I wouldn't mind if this become a thing

Battery packs tend to not get too too hot in reasonable situations, and if they do they tend to handle the heat rather well, while the Box unit is covered in ventilation so we don't suspect any issues with the setup described! I don't think BlackVue has a patent on this design, as there have been other cameras with similar design concepts in the past, and we'd love to see more brands get creative with their cameras like this!

    Thanks for this review and the mention. It definitely made my list a lot shorter now. I finally received my Viofo A139 Pro (back order) and started the install in my wife's car this afternoon. I'll post some video when it is all finished. But as I said, I am now starting to look for one to install in my truck. We have a lot of car break-ins around New Orleans, and a majority of those are trucks. For some reason the punks think that there will be a better chance of finding money and guns in trucks. But I have a work truck, and luckily I have not had anyone break my windows, even though a few different vehicles have been broken into that were near my truck. So having the 2 way comm and the cloud/gps/lte is a major plus. My only question is if they plan on upgrading the cameras and processor any time soon. How long ago did this unit arrive on the market?
    I also like the fact that the cameras are small and can be tucked out of sight a lot easier than a lot of the other units. When I install, I don't like seeing wires any more than I have to.(wait until you see my install vids.)

      No problem at all! I can say that these units are very new to the market, and are under a month old I believe. The DR770X Box is running the same upgraded image processor as the new BlackVue series, so I think that it is unlikely that will change any time soon. The resolution being increased is also likely a struggle, since the cameras themselves are so small, supporting a 4k sensor might be a bit difficult. Plus, 3-channel setups are very difficult with 4k, which is why the base DR750X-3CH never ended up with it's own 4k counterpart, and stuck to 1080p as well.
      Still, we think the box camera is truly a very unique piece, and will express an interest in a 4k box camera to them directly :).

      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      This model can have LTE with the addition of the LTE module. Realistically, the Box model is the most heat resistant model BlackVue model, as it can be stored in a shaded and cool place instead of right on the windshield, and the box itself is very spacious with plenty of ventilation for the hardware, compared to the very compact standard BlackVue systems.

    Is it required for LTE box on the back windshield?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Год назад

      The LTE box is not required to be placed on the back windshield, we do however recommend wiring it towards the top of the vehicle to ensure it gets proper reception. The cable for the LTE module is only 1.4 meters, running from the Box head unit, so that does limit mounting options.

      Depends on the cable. The Coaxial rear cable is 20ft/6M

    Quelle différence avec la 970🤔???

      The BlackVue DR970X and DR770X Box 3 are both excellent dash cam options, but they cater to different needs. The DR970X is a traditional dash cam system with cameras mounted on the windshield and rear window, while the DR770X Box 3 has a unique design with a main recording unit, or "Box," that can be hidden away, such as in the glove compartment, for added security. Both models offer multi-channel recording, but the DR770X Box 3 is specifically designed as a three-channel system, capturing front, rear, and interior views. The DR770X Box 3 also focuses on stealth and security with its tamper-proof design to protect cameras and cables from being easily accessed or damaged. Meanwhile, the DR970X may provide enhanced image quality and features, such as higher resolution recording, depending on the variant. Compare it to Viofo A139 Pro 3 channel dashcam side by side

      Thanks for the feedback! We'll see what we can do in the future. I'd say the A139 Pro would be a better option if you are looking for higher resolution and a more economic price, while the DR770X box camera supports much more advanced features, and really emphasizes security.

      The U3000 2-CH is a real contender! Came out yesterday. 3-Channel though? Not much competition out there, besides the DR770X Box.
