How to Crochet - winter princess hat / Inspired by Frozen ( video one)-

- Easy to crochet hat. It's easier than you think. In video one I will take you step by step on how to make the basic beanie, and then we will work the crown. Don't be intimidated, this hat only basic basic stitches. The most advanced stitch used is a picot stitch. (Don't worry, I show how to crochet that stitch too). It seems that Frozen fever has taken over. Every little girl and some not so little seem to love Elsa from Frozen. Here, I have tried to come up with my own version of a Winter Princess Hat. I hope you enjoy it. The tutorial continues on Video 2.

It can be made for sizes toddles thru male adult. See suggestioned hook sizes:
Infant- Size G Hook,
Babies Size H hook,
Toddler Size I hook.
To crochet a beanie for an older child use a size J hook and a medium weight worsted yarn. For adults you can use a size K hook and a heavier weight of yarn (maybe even a chunky weight. The pattern is the same for all sizes. Only the size of hook and weight of yarn changes. This makes this the perfect beanie pattern for all sizes. From Baby - adult size. Follow the same pattern.

I do occasionally run into something I can't make look right but mostly I get it. You are a great teacher! SO hoping I can do this one. Hello Yolanda, I think the reason why the two black bars are on either side of the video is because you are holding a cell phone straight up and down. On Margaret Olander's channel she does a tutorial and she shows that you need to turn the cell phone sideways. Hope this helps. thumbs up as always.
I made one of these and it turned out beautifully! I used the pattern for the older kid with the extra spacing. I am now trying to make the smaller one, without the extra spacing, and it has a point along the area where the "chain 3" section is, starting in row 2 and going down to about row 7. It's like it has an extra little bump all the way down. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?

Hi Yolanda, I've made about 3 of these hats. I would like to make one for a 5 month old. Do I just keep doing DC for all 12 rows after I've done up to the 3rd row? You mention something about for a small child but wanted to make sure that's how it's supposed to be done. Thank you for taking the time in making these tutorials. They're a lot of fun. question on the hat... row 3 will have 48 and then next row till be an increase at the 7th stitch . so what Is the total stitches for row 5 to 12? reason why is you said at the end to the markers for the hair.. starting at the back( last stitch.. count 10.. mark then count 10 and mark. then count 14 last mark. but that only adds up to 34? am I missing something? please reply back thank you.love this hat

Hi Yolanda, I'm so glad I came across your video, it's great. My granddaughter has been asking me to make her Queen Elsa's hair, she will love this. But I was wondering if you had written instructions as well? Would it change the end results if I just knitted the hat? The whole magic circle thing just throws me off. :(

Yolanda I am having a blonde monment lol when u are placing st markers are u counting from back seam where we slipped st and go from left to right for first 10 count then marker that how video looks but when u turn it over to show back seam it looks different am I doing it right I have so many to make before Christmas thank u

I have a question for you. On the last "peacock stitch" around 23:00, after the peacock stitch you have 3 stitches left for 3 single crochets but I have 4 left. And at the beginning of that same row you made 4 single crochets. Are there supposed to be 3 or 4 at the end of that row?
I have that same thing happen to me...I have took it apart 5 times...still coming up with that.
By the way my hat part keeps going miss shaped kind of...while I'm on the fourth row like you are (yours looks like its forming into the hat) my hat looks like a weird folding everywhere flower...I'm not missing any stitches I've tripled checked. What do I do? Just keep going?

My grand daughter is 12 yr.old and has a bigger head than most kids her age - her brothers have bigger heads too so it runs in the family. Are your grand daughters younger? I added an additional increase round - every 9 stitches. What do you think?

I don't know what she used but I used Red Heart medium weight in Turqua. I don't know about the hat part because I just needed the crown.
