The nimbus is beautiful! So many different colors! I'd love to see that one on a carved mug, maybe with one of the more monochrome ones (Norse Blue?) on the inside. Thanks for sharing the new stuff!
I recently purchased the trial box of the 12 new Mayco glazes. The combos I've tried so far are amaryllis over coral gloss and passion flower over ivy. My fav is the Amaryllis over coral gloss. I've got more combos and test tiles to fire.
I have the brush on versions. I fire at cone 5 ish. My favs are Nimbus, Ivy and Riptide. I use a speckled clay. The colors are darker on it and look great.
Riptide was my favourite too. The colour was soft, but it had so much depth and variation. I would love to see riptide with one of the corals/pinks. Hopefully, 🤞it would result in a ‘Monet painting’ effect.
Do you find you get different results when you use your freshly mixed glaze right away, vs letting them sit a few days before dipping? Also, on their website they show peppered.plum over ivy and it looks amazing!!! Are you planning to do some of those layered tests too??
It's definitely a different outcome when you mix your own glazes, I have the brush on nimbus and rose quarts and the results are so different.I think the brush glaze on showed its true potential.
I was bummed when I heard this too , but they said if they had enough people that want it they would bring it back in the 10 pound dry bags! So let them know you want it!
I started using Cinnabar (electric firing to Cone6) this year with my ceramics students...they LOVE it. I'm very interested in seeing it done to Cone10 in the gas kiln. From one John to another....keep up the content....even if I do spell mine the "wrong" way. Hahaha. Keep potting brother!
1 quart = 1/4 gallon = 2 pints (volume of water). You need 5 quarts for a ten pound bag of glaze mix, which is equivalent to 10 pints per ten pounds so --> 1 pint per pound.
I just love hearing your little ones voice. It made me smile even more than seeing new glaze!!
Nimbus looks good to this Cape Cod potter.
Mocha shino and sand dollar were the winners for me. Gorgeous! Thank you, I've been waiting to see some of the new colors.
Coral with a seafoam green color would be great!
I absolutely love hearing your sons commentary!!!!!

Would love to see amaryllis in a flower pot...hint hint...and that passion flower.
I started mixing my own glazes now, but I used to do a lot of sandstone over cinnabar. It's absolutely beautiful and drippy.
Fascinating to see how different the results are from the dipped glazes to the brush on ones. BTW amaryllis over ivy is gorgeous, but incredibly runny
My favorite is peppered plum! I usually don’t like matte glazes but riptide is really nice as well.

We will be doing a lot of testing with Riptide!
@@Jonthepotter We are all looking forward to seeing the beautiful results!
Shino, sand dollar and rose quartz are my favorites
Rip tide on bottom with Nimbus on top part of a vase or mug is sweeeet! I made mini pots with some texture banding to test how the glazes break.
@Jonthepotter no need to add pehatine or any other glaze optimizer? Just dry glaze + water?
Omg the prettiest of colours 🩵
I love Amaryllis and passionflower. Passionflower really reminds me of Chinese Jun wares which are a similar cloud blue and purple!

We plan on testing a bunch of different combos!

Nimbus is my fave so far
Raspberry mist over cinnabar is a great combo
Try the amaryllis over sand dollar. Nimbus over riptide.
Can i please ask what cone you fire to? *absolute beginner here 🙋♀️!
Usually cone 6 or sometimes 7 in the electric kiln.
I am not liking any of the new glazes myself. I hope you found a good combo or something. I want to like them.
Love that Nimbus! (HS Art Teacher)
Nimbus hands down my fave
So u only did 1 dip? Passion flower works best brushing because it picks up more of the crystals
Mayco is only making copper ore in pint. Are you buying pints. I want to try your cooper ore glazes but need the 10lb dry mix.
I was bummed when I heard this too , but they said if they had enough people that want it they would bring it back in the 10 pound dry bags! So let them know you want it!
Also, super impressed with your shino result. I've tried it out of the pint sized jar and it has never worked. It goes purple for me .
Us too!
I got a TON of blistering with rose quarts! Fired to cone 6
Shoot!
Riptide & Nimbus!
Riptide isn't dinnerware safe . Found out after I bought it 😢
Amaryllis is my absolute favorite
Awesome sauce!!! Can you please try nimbus over Winterwood!!! ❤❤❤
I'd love to see it over Celadon Bloom!
Yea! Nimbus over winterwood!
We will have to try all of these combos!
Will you be raku firing with the new gas kiln?
Possibly!
@@Jonthepotter That would be great to see. It's like organized chaos.
Fossil Rock is my fave
Super ❤

5 quarts of water, its about 1 pound for a pint..... as a non-american : what ?
