    Driving on a dirt road isn't considered off roading

    • @backlash660
      @backlash660 8 лет назад +5

      +xXx_69_ILLUMINATI - DE$TROYER_69_xXx True , but it is more off road than most of the people who buy one will take it on .

    • @vincentphillips5248
      @vincentphillips5248 8 лет назад

      +xXx_69_ILLUMINATI - DE$TROYER_69_xXx by definition its off roading

    • @cheekibreeki7058
      @cheekibreeki7058 8 лет назад +3

      For me it is offroad because your car is not in the pavement or in a concrete highway, so basically your car is doing a light offroad on a dirt road!

    • @masonmethot3186
      @masonmethot3186 8 лет назад +5

      What's off roading to you? Climbing over 5ft rocks and going through a lake? Off road means off the road, on a dirt path or a muddy trail,

    • @Ktheodoss
      @Ktheodoss 8 лет назад +5

      100% correct. A maintained road meant for autos, regardless if it is paved, is still a road. Off road means driving on ground not "designed" to be driven on - even if they can be driven on. I've driven on miles of logging roads with an old rear wheel drive Oldmsmobile Cutlass Supreme. That is not off roading. That is not even soft off roading. It's just a bumpy ride.

    This is the Acadia that should have been from the beginning. The Acadia has always been too big and thirsty for its segment, it is good to see that it has now become more sensible.

    I like how the GMC dude mentioned how the start stop feature nets better freeway fuel economy. I never knew people started and stopped a lot while freeway driving.

      cgcgundersen yes...its called rush hour. when you're stopped bumper to bumper.

      Rush hour good example... i was thinking Mississippi where they like to not build those freeway bridges so you just have to stop at every red light on the freeway 😂

    A 2017 vehicle that costs over $30,000 base model and still has Halogen headlights. Gotta love GM.

    • @joshtavenner3073
      @joshtavenner3073 8 лет назад

      Would be the only vehicle out there that fits that description. Although I doubt GMC would have ditched the HID headlight option since it's available on the outgoing model and even base model GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado get HID headlights standard (and LED units on higher trimmed trucks) even though It doesn't actually list the HIDs on the website as a feature.

    Hello from 2024 TFL!
    Im here because Im researching my next used car and this generation of Acadia caught my eye. Why? Because it is only 1 inch wider than the Renegade I am replacing. I love how small and well placed the Renegade feels but want something longer for my growing family. This seems perfect.
    You guys convinced me of the Renegades offroad preformance years ago and you where right, I have loved the little thing. But now dad life has kicked in, and its time to make sure my 2 kids can arrive in the same vehicle with all their stuff.
    Thank you TFL for all you do, will do, and have done.

    looks nicer than anything Lincoln or buick offers in terms of interior design and materials.

    • @Barobran92
      @Barobran92 8 лет назад

      Chances are the next gen Buick Enclave will have a very similarly designed interior.

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 лет назад

      perhaps, though the current Enclave looks nothing like the chevy / GMC counterparts as it has a unique interior architecture.

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 лет назад

      well if you want a worse interior, less technology, and less performance then sure.

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 лет назад +1

      you must not have driven the MKT, its just a rebaged ford, cheap, plastics, pleathers, and plastic grain wood.
      this new Acadia has real wall nut wood, Nappa leather, REAL aluminium, and it has more technology.
      please, learn what you're talking about before you speak.

      justin bouche You also do realize that GMC and Buick are the same company essentially, so if GMC is shit in your opinion I'm not sure how Buick is any better?

  • @tamerfathy7697

      GM is actually trying to space out the sizes so that they don't compete for sales. Chevy will get the larger Traverse and that's it.

    • @lmn222002
      @lmn222002 7 лет назад +2

      yeah right when has GM made one car of anything....give it time and all of the larger suv will be back to Envoy's and Trailblazers...they might as well bring back the 4.2 straight 6..that was a solid engine

    • @27Zangle
      @27Zangle 6 лет назад

      I have the 4.2 and yes it is very solid with excellent power and crap gas millage. However they're known for water pump issues and just replaced mine at 92k miles earlier this week. The engine feels like a smooth V8.

  • @damor2006
    @damor2006 8 лет назад +1

    Andre, you had to ask the hard questions. We Acadia owners bought this SUV for 3 main reasons: room for up to 8, best interior space and 5600 lb of towing capability.
    Instead, you focus on select terrain and offroad? And what's the ground clearance? Acadia was already a fantastic all weather vehicle. That terrain mode sounds like bologna to me. Is it trying to compete with the Cherokee? The niche that make customers love, and buy, this car are the ones I gave you before and you fail to inquire about them.

    • @djayt1215
      @djayt1215 8 лет назад +1

    After having mine for a couple years, I like it but that tire/road noise can be awful and gets worse as the tires wear. I enjoy the handling of sport mode quite a bit. One thing overlooked that's nice is the 22 gallon fuel tank, 2-3 gallons more than typical for this class. I regularly get 500-550 miles off a tank. The cylinder shutoff is great when it applies.. mostly when cruising around 58mph or slower it will shift to 4 cylinder. The engine is held back by the transmission. The upcoming 2020 model with the 9 speed (or is it 8) should help.

    So my question to them is where is the 2.8 baby duramax that they have on the Canyon?? If they are all about mileage why don't they offer the diesel? This guy says the truck is off road, but no lift? Um last time I checked if there is an off road package that means it's lifted whether it's mild or wild, tires are off road based, and for the most part skid plate and other protection items galore.

    It seems to me that the term "off-road" has a very wide definition. A lot of auto manufacturers say "off-road" when they really mean "off paved road". A dirt road that is flat and dry really isn't that much different to drive on. A Buick Verano can do that. I realize also that rock crawling is not what these vehicles are meant to do either as they are not traditional 4x4 like a Nissan XTerra or a Jeep Wrangler. But a fair test of AWD capability would be to test the vehicle (CUVs of this type) on the exact situations most people would require them to be driven on. There should be a test drive on a sandy beach, on a few inches of fresh snow, on grassy grazing land, and on wet dirt roads with some incline.

    I'm _really_ curious to see the _real world_ MPG numbers for the 4 cylinder. Once you load it up with people and junk and actually go somewhere the MPG will go straight to hell, as will the lifespan of the engine. But yeah, with empty car and cruise control on a freeway it'll surely drive for cheap...
    With cylinder deactivation on the V6 I don't really understand why anyone would ever buy the I4. Maybe for driving a mile to a shopping mall and back?

    I really like the front of this, But I still don't like the over all looks plus imo, it's a redundant model. Gm is bad for that, making the same or similar in the product line trying to be everything to everyone. I'd buy the Pilot over this. Sad but true and i hate the look of the new washed down pilot. Great review.

    too bad. we really liked the Acadia for its rugged look and feel. This newer model looks more like a Gmc Terain. if I want I Terain in would get a Terain. Unfortunate that they changed the design to a lesser feel and look. hopefully they will bring back the more rugged larger design. We may go over to the ford Explorer or lincoln . They have kept the much more rugged design.

      +Vincent Phillips Why did they take it out in the first place if the weight reduction is already engineered in the total production?!? Makes no sense for a car that size.

    • @djayt1215
      @djayt1215 8 лет назад

      +realbhopwood i don't understand it either, I mean I can live without the third row on the all terrain of they actually made it an off road competitor, more ground clearance, approach and departure, true 4×4 with low gears.

      I agree, they make the blazer for the Asian market with the diesel, they put it against the 4 runner and it did very well. I guess jeep takes too much market share in that segment.

    It's smaller and 700 lbs lighter, makes it the same size and weight as the GMC Terrain. What is the purpose of shrinking the Acadia to the size of the Terrain, might as well just go out and buy a Terrain! What's the difference?

    My wife traded yesterday her 2018 camaro for a 2017 acadia all terrain with the saddleback leather seats .
    I got to say....i don't miss her tiny ass camaro l. Also this car says all terrain not off road it's easy going on rougher terrain.
    Also tfastlane fails here testing it's capabilities. There are videos out there where people took it actually climbing and it works.
    Again it's a suv great for camping grounds what not. Nobody claims it's a big badass jeep off roader. People really need to learn how to understand context here.
    And also off roading? Is anything that is not designated for normal road use. And it's more than able to do it. All you experts are so narrow minded

      I was being sarcastic lol.That road was barely offroad. My bicycle could handle that. This vehicle has horrible ground clearance and approach angle for real offroading.

      +matchgame90 Actually yes, plenty is wrong with that. And what's worse, there's no reason for them to be turned on unless it's fog to begin with. There is absolutely no benefit to drive with them and potentially blind or otherwise annoy cars in front of you.
