Carl's best friend, Emma, had a birthday coming up. Carl wanted to do something special for her, so he decided to plan a surprise party. He knew Emma loved surprises and parties, so it was the perfect idea. Carl started by making a list of all the things he needed to do. First, he had to invite Emma's friends. He called them one by one and told them about the surprise party. | Everyone was excited and promised to keep it a secret. Next, Carl went shopping for decorations. He bought balloons, streamers, and a big "Happy Birthday" banner. He also picked up some party hats and noise makers. Carl wanted everything to be perfect. | On the day of the party, Carl woke up early to start decorating. He hung the banner and balloons around the living room. He set up a table with snacks, drinks, and a big birthday cake. Carl was careful to make sure everything looked festive and fun. As the time for the party approached, Carl called Emma and asked her to come over.
