    So I have annoying bass build up in one corner of my room in my apartment. Should I treat that one corner, or is there another route I should take? It's a small rectangular room, with about half of the room being the kitchen/dining area (barstool), and the other half being the living room.
    This is a description of the 4 corners:
    The front left corner is in the living room, and has one of my speakers located there (of course, it's pulled out from the corner.).
    The front right corner is in the kitchen, so no room for treatment there
    The rear left corner is empty. This is the only corner where I notice the bass booming.
    The rear right corner is where the front door is located, so no treatment can be placed there

      It sounds like you have some space where you can do some good bass trapping, but this depends on the size of the room as well. I would like to see your room dimensions first, although bass trapping in corners is the most important step in a room after taking care of first reflections. Having an open, shared space comes with unique challenges, so I would want to have more information about the space. Please reach out to us via our acoustic advice form at
      www.gikacoustics.com/acoustic-advice-form/
      We've made a video that touches on the subject of treating shared spaces: ruclips.net/video/wOTAS7ncihI/видео.html

    if the areas of most bass are of the highest pressure and lowest velocity, and your bass traps are porous absorbers that work best at highest velocity, wouldn't you avoid putting the bass traps where the bass sounds loudest?

    • @nikolaudio
      @nikolaudio 11 месяцев назад

      yep. Quarter wavelength of the lowest bass frequency youre trying to delete away from the wall. So like 30hz youd put ur trap 9.5ft away from the wall etc

    I'm looking into these to help stop outside noise (Cars passing by create a very annoying rumbling inside my bedroom). Would these do anything if installed inside?I have no fence in my yard so my bedroom wall faces the street. There is also a wooden gate to the backyard which connects to the house making an L. I'm starting to think outside noise hits this as well and sort of creates a little cavern that sucks in noise making the rumbling sound if that makes sense. Perhaps putting these in the corner of the fence/wall on the outside?? Any info would be great

    In general, should people build bass traps that are the full height of the room? Or is it better acoustically to leave a little gap at the top?

    • @greggregson5984
      @greggregson5984 9 месяцев назад

      I would cover as much of the corner as possible. It doesnt have to be perfect however. In my case I have a gap of about 5cm between basstrap and ceiling, which doesnt have any impact. Remember that the waves bass frequencies emit can be very big, so a few cm less wont make any noticable difference.

    • @totalplonker824
      @totalplonker824 3 месяца назад

      What about 30 cm short from the ceiling and 30 cm short from the floor. I'm unable to reposition a pair of subwoofers which are running perpendicular to the corners. I'm just wondering if the corner bass traps are likely to be still as effective, especially considering their likely to be sitting practically on top of the subwoofers. @greggregson5984

    • @GIKAcousticsLLC

      Foam isn't able to effectively absorb frequencies below 150Hz, so especially for recording males vocals foam isn't the optimal choice.

    hello i hope someone sees that. i have a wall with a window behind my spreakers. The window is on the right of the wall in the corner. What can i do with the bass frequencies in that case?

    • @GIKAcousticsLLC
      @GIKAcousticsLLC  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. While windows are not ideal for placing hanging treatments, there are absolutely methods to treating areas with windows for bass frequencies. A good quality window that’s been properly installed probably doesn’t affect soundwaves much differently than other wall surfaces like drywall, wood, bricks, or concrete. Some of the best solutions are using GOBO's or transforming our panels into free-standing panels, while there may be space for room setup positioning tweaks.
      We've written a very in-depth article on the subject with some great solutions:

      I can't tell what time code you're referencing, but corner bass traps should be as thick as your space and budget can account for, especially if you're working with music. All of the GIK bass traps have graphs one their store pages so you can see exactly where they are effective.

    • @florinwizz
      @florinwizz 3 года назад

      @@stateniland It may sound a general issue, but this exact model makes the low frequencies a horror to listen to. The interior is dark because the windows are small, claustrophobish. Some other dips and gains between some other mid bass freqs are also present. I mean, it's just impossible to enjoy any kind of music in it. Even though the sub is pounding clean undistorted waves, from the passenger seat it is another story. You do not feel the natural sub bass. If you love subbass, please stay away from this model
