- Can I receive VA benefits with an Other Than Honorable (OTH) discharge?
William A. Hudson, Jr. explains how this might be possible through a Character of Service Determination.

I am glad I left the Army with a full honorable discharge and didn’t have to worry about a character of discharge determination.
I see everybody explaining what an administration is, but i yet, to see a military lawyer, explain what a tentative characterization discharge is for unsatisfactory performance in the Ready Reserves.
This seems like bs. I served and failed a drug test from meds I took for pain after cutting open my arm and got a oth.
plus if I can get other . sense I have been out of the military I've gone to school and now I've been working for the company almost 20 years I feel that I could uses the benefits .
I wonder if that will change for misconduct
the one benefit that I'm looking for is to be buried in a military cemetery next to my oldest brother he means the world to me I got oth my problems were base on medical issues.
GOOD LUCK

That would be an honorable discharge and entitled to benefits. You just probably cant go back in.
There is no such thing as a honorable or dishonorable RE code.

If you can’t reenlist it could be for a multitude of reasons. It’s not really an issue with the civilian world, it’s an issue in the military though.
The main thing is you got a good discharge.
Can I go back to active duty with a generable under honorable?
You can get a waiver to join the Army.
