    I think the boiler was OK after, those hose connectors are a pain for killing the flow rate, its better to fit the replacement flow and return pipes with the sliding joints as those hoses will reduce the bore again, as for the filter what a pain they are, they always fall apart on removal.

    The 7.81V may be not fan off but a slow speed just to keep the combustion chamber purged of flammable gas so it can do a warm start on heat demand.
    The fan on my Ferroli 77FF was claimed as '2 speed' - in effect full speed and tick-over - possibly to stop the boiler heating water from the pilot light - LOL !

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  5 лет назад

      No tick over on this. The ferroli uses the tick over to entrain air from outside into the boiler so the pilot doesn't go out. Most fan assisted boilers used a tick over for this reason.

    Happy New year mate, in machining we always use wd40 as a lubricant to cut Ali whether threads or surfaces it's always cleared well. Changed quite a few fans in my time never had the need to use that technique,but will bare that one in mind in the future ! I thinks it's because the Ebmpapst fans fit a multitude of boilers so the thread patterns suit many. I know from previous experience there is Very rarely anything wrong with the motor...it's the board on the top that a component goes pop...still as you say "trousers down" tell you what if you changed that fan and that noise is still there your gonna loose some hair mate ! Great vids keep it up.

      I had a fault with my boiler - which I fixed. A year or so later discovered a fault-finding chart in the manual - so I went through that with the same symptoms - and it recommended changing the gas valve.
      The actual problem was that the gas supplied wasn't flammable.
      The fix was to take the gas pipe off before the meter, open the gas valve until I could smell gas and then reassemble and purge the last bit of the pipework. Job done.

      Unless you know the customer, they will blame you. Its human nature. One thing I see a lot of is fans fail after the boiler runs hot. Like the pressure was low or system was air locked.

      HeatingGeek can you always put the black on the earths/chassis when looking for voltage to components?

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  6 лет назад +1

      @@tiabidgie Yes. Your multimeter shows potential difference (difference between where the 2 test probes are touching). If you were testing for 240v to a system pump but the neutral was broken at the wiring center you could have 240v but your multimeter will not show it. If you touched it it would hurt. If you tested the same pump for 240v by putting your black probe onto the earth it would show 240v.
      I might do a video about that.

    The canoe filter generally cannot be removed as it is always scaled up. Don't even think it is listed as a part, don't quote me on that!
    Poor HW performance is generally the plate exchanger or the canoe filter blocked, as such it is a waste of time. You proved you did not need it by not replacing it!
    Fan? Where is your manual?
    Better to replace the rubber hoses with the upgrade kit, moves the sensor as well. You wait till the hoses split and total the PCB with hot water!!!!!

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  6 лет назад +1

      I will take that risk with the hoses 10 years old and never a problem. Never had F75 so not worried about relocating the sensor.
      The hoses are fine and as long as you don't leave chemicals in there.
      Speaking of which..... Chemicals in the system for 4 weeks now. Whoops, maybe I will drain it out tomorrow.
