I recommend every guitarist commits to 1 year of actual lessons to learn how to read music and play across the first 3 feets. This will be so helpful to you. Thank you! Love your videos.
This is one of the most articulate videos I've seen on RUclips on the basics. Simply outstanding. Every statement is carefully stated and really clearly. Fantastic job Beatrix! I've subscribed and will check out your website and think about supporting you. I play steel string folk, but this has been very helpful. Thank you so much.
People should listen to you. You know exactly what you’re talking about about my dear. I’ve been playing long time and reading music for 40 years. I know exactly what you mean. Have a beautiful day.👍🎸🎼🎸
Has a guitar player for many years to be exact 51 years. The first 10 years I didn’t learn nothing I started in 1974 and by the time 1980 has got here. I hadn’t learned anything a few things but not much. Johnny fortune taught me a lot of cord And a lot of strum. But in in 1985 I started reading music. I never thought I would go this far with music. I’m 71 years old. I’ve read music very well. I am on my solo instrumental. Guitarist actually can play some of Chad Atkins pieces. it’s not easy, but I didn’t take any shortcuts. I practice every day day and day out sometimes as much as 6 to 8 hours a day I’m retired. It was nice to have something to do. Today I can learn anything I want to and I and I owe it all to reading music I think anybody who wants to learn how to play guitar don’t take any shortcuts, but by all means learn how to read notation. It’s the essential thing to do. You wouldn’t go across country without a roadmap, you wouldn’t know where you were going. The same thing with music the roadmap to learning. Listen to this lady she knows what she’s talking about. I am Meyer people like her who encourage people to do things especially reading music, but everybody wants to learn fast. Not me take your time enjoy it👍👍❤️❤️😎🎸🎼🎵🎶🎸
The G-clef was explained to me way back when as: the G-clef fixes the notes on the staff with the curl surrounding the line that represents G above middle C. It helps to make sense of some 17th/18th century music where the curl surrounds the bottom line of the staff, meaning that those staff lines represent G B D F A and the spaces A C E G.
Hi Beatrix, nice to see you again, can you give some recommendations for those of us that can read all notes on 1st position but can’t seem to memorize the 4th, 5th, and 7th positions, thanks
absolutely... I actually made another video exactly about that, but haven't posted it yet... that'll be my next video though, so keep an eye out, I think I can post it next Friday :) It'll teach you how to navigate the fretboard entirely.
I played viola in school, which is the alto clef. Is the guitar ever written in any other clef? And as I’m writing this you’re answering the question in the video… welp… (Edited for grammar)
@@beatrixguitar Thanks! I always struggled with pieces that jumped to treble clef. Even decades later as I’m trying to learn to read music for the guitar, my brain tries interpreting it the other way.
@@oromani1842 if this makes you feel any better, I'm the same with f clef lol. it's so painful, even though I played piano for years and studied at university
My music teacher, at school, thought there were good arguments for putting the guitar into alto/C clef as it meant the guitar would not be a transposing instrument (down 1 octave from written) and only need 1 extra ledger line. I think that being in G clef has something to do with the later invention of the 6 string guitar. I was confused enough as a kid about trying to decipher a nonlinear instrument from a linear script and only paid a little attention to it all. She was also a pianist, not a guitarist, so useless to helping my poor 11 year old brain.
Take your time learn how to do it’s not as hard as you think. I’ve been reading music for 43 years and have been playing guitar for 51. Learn you’ll love it.👍 good luck😁👍🎸

I'm breaking some 4th wall here haha. Honestly, I've never seen guitar music written in any other clefs.

So guitar is transposing instrument? The notes in sheet music is played on guitar an octave lower than the concert pitch?
Please make more technical videos miss
Hi! I wrote a Classical Guitar Method book for beginners, I would like to send you a copy and it would be nice to hear what you think about it. 🙏
Hey, are you hungarian?
I am!

This is too hard
