I love how you combined Both the Swedish and US kits as I have both and always considered separate uses. But this is definitely a game changer. Than you sir!

Seems like each systems have their own caveats. I like the Chinese PLA Kit, well made and versatile. Thanks for taking time out to comment

Vince Lee Thanks for checking out the video Vince. Mostly I do these to inspire people. Be safe in this trying time, or get out and fire up that mess kit

Fun fact. The us mess kits weren't designed to cook food. They were meant to be used as food trays in a mess line. Thus mess kit. But in a pinch that's what soldiers use them for. Cooking.

Yes, that’s what makes them a challenge. I think I addressed that in one of my mess kit videos. Thank you though and I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment.

I de glaze the mess kit with a little water and heat. Make it easy to clean up

A great suggestion. My first job was in a fish and chip restaurant and I had to boil out the fry vats. We used water and vinegar and a green pad. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching

Why is the flame so yellow? Is that a different type of alcohol? Also is that pot stand homemade?

The windscreen is from a Swedish Mess Kit and I’m using rubbing alcohol. My whole purpose is to inspire people to cook. Mostly I see people just heating canned food or Ramen etc. on these mess kits. I just want to illustrate you could actually make a decent meal if you want with rudimentary gear. I’ve owned just about every type of backpacking or camping stove made. My uncle even held a patent for a survival stove used by the US military during the Korean War. The yellow flame puts out a lot of carbon and I wouldn’t recommend it for serious use. I have a ton of rubbing alcohol in my prepping supplies, it’s stores in definitely and is cheap. Until the Covid thing it was easy to get. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

How much oil did you use? it looked like it has way too much oil in the mess kit while cooking.

Looks pretty good! Only thing that would make it better is some cheese on it. ;) But ya, you really do too many frying burgers in those kits.

Really?...Really??? This is not a children’s channel. That being said I’m sorry you’re so easily offended. But I do consider feedback and carefully review what people say. It’s not easy walking on egg shells to please everyone and it’s easy to crack an egg or two.
      Anyway best wishes to you.
