By far the best explanation of solar and lunar eclipses. Easy to understand animations. It’s extremely difficult to make something look simple. And you nailed it. Thanks a lot man.
After watching about 15 videos on eclipse, finally I got my answer through your video.. While everyone else showed earth moving around it's orbit, you showed it on a plane which cleared my doubt about the nodal points. Thanks a lot mate 👍 hope I'll be off your help some day.
Sir I had this question since High School (more than 20 years ago) and didn't bothered me enough to search for it on Google, but I'm greatly surprised you made a video about it and finally gave me the solution why we don't get Eclipses each month. Thank you! 👏👏👏
You have no idea how long I have been searching for a video that explains this for my 5th grade kiddies! Thanks so much, it really does a great job of visually explaining why there arent eclipses twice a month!
I know this has all been said, multiple times, in these comments, before mine. But I watched HOURS of videos on eclipses and this was the best explanation, visual, and teaching, allowing me to understand it all, better. Thank you!!! 🎉 🌞🌑🌍🌎🌏
Superbly narrated, Jared. You did an outstanding job explaining in an engaging and interesting way. Great narration and loved the production overall. Well done!
Man you cannot imagine how much this is going to help my students to really understand what is happening during a eclipse. Thank you so much for the quality of the animation!
If you ever revisit this topic, I hope you explain about the umbra and penumbra. Apparently a lot of people don't understand why the penumbra is so small. Another common misunderstanding is why the moon's shadow moves faster than the rotation of the Earth. I think too many diagrams explaining the solar eclipse don't show things at the proper scale. I'm glad you showed how extreme these scales are in your excellent video. Thanks for making this and I hope you keep up the good work.
3:46 I already sent my classmate the link for this video since they need help on doing their projects about solar and lunar eclipses. They said, "thank you"
Blimey it must be rather heartening to have brought a number of levels of understanding to fellow dwellers of this Earth. And without lifting a finger, have a bunch I think you prefer, a bunch more de temps en temps every few doz months or couple of years. Thank you for your effort in enlightening some here. Thank you personally for quietly being a decent bloke with your feet on the ground. Let's hope that the future robot schoolmasters don't learn _all_ their tradecraft in presentation from certain squeakily effervescent media. Now that I've been snottily English, I'd like to share my unique (it can't be but I've not encountered it anywhere online...) experience of the 1999 UK partial in London. I was so entranced by the thousands of tiny partially-eaten images of the Sun on the pavement under a smallish tree ~ presumably the leaves were my Mylar glasses ~ that I even managed to drag the pub hard man and his accolytes out to enjoy the sheer magic too. He's even bought me a pint or two since! If you haven't been blessed by such wonderful help from nature, remember for next time. Many thanks, JP, Chelsea, London.
Thank you for such an informative video . I honestly had little knowledge on the sun, moon or eclipse. This was fascinating. I plan to share this with my grandchildren! They will think their Nana is really, really SMART! 😉. Thanks again and God Bless!✝️
Thank you this! I am starting my research to find out how to best understand the eclipse and decide what town to travel to enjoy the total eclipse in 2024
We learn so many concepts in our lectures but we didn't get the real feel and 100% conceptual clarity of that topic. And any query in mind irritates alot than a mosquitoe. So this channel is the one stop solution for me . Whenever I have doubt and didn't get solution 😕 after so much struggle I come on ur channel. Thanks alot sir ur the best explanier. Nice voice Nice explanations Nice animation #jaredowen
@@kfm908 it does make since. When you do a to scale model of the sun, earth, and moon with a large flashlight and small balls (I made some out of clay for a tiktok to disprove a flat earther’s claim that shadows don’t get smaller) you can clearly see the shadows that the objects cast. Keep in mind in reality, these are gigantic objects. I know flat earthers have a hard time comprehending the size of these celestial objects and that’s why y’all make such ignorant statements.
This is the best video j have seen so far about Eclipses saw the lunar last night and saw the blood moon and needed to get more info and this video was in point 💯🔥🔥
That's exactly the answer I am looking for. Everybody explains how the luner and solar eclipse happen. But I had been thinking why it doesn't happen twice a month when the moon blocks the sun light. Thanks you.
About 7 years ago when I was younger I was at aunts house, they lived quite close to my home. It was getting late and was about to go home. When I got outside I saw the moon bigger then I’ve ever seen it and it was bright red.
Literally the ONLY video that properly visualized solar and lunar eclipses to make me understand what is happening
so true
Exactly
Another one i found in national geographic
Yes.. couldn't sleep with this proper explanation
I totally agree! I’m bookmarking this video!
By far the best explanation of solar and lunar eclipses. Easy to understand animations. It’s extremely difficult to make something look simple. And you nailed it. Thanks a lot man.
You have made many people sleep peacefully after years of restless nights thinking about this.

Glad to help!
exactly, bcoz of that only i got my doubt clear about not getting solar and lunar eclipse every month.
Same!! 😂😂 It was exactly what I experienced.
This is by far the best video explaining why there is an eclipse
Here after Total Solar Eclipse 2024! Thank you for video
Thank you Michael!
Why this guy doesnt have millions of subs? Great job man

I haven't seen a better explanation of why these events don't happen every month than you... Keep it up
You have no idea how long I have been searching for a video that explains this for my 5th grade kiddies! Thanks so much, it really does a great job of visually explaining why there arent eclipses twice a month!
Thanks Christina! Let me know if you have any more ideas for animations that would help out your students.
Just Fantastic Jared... Your Videos are among the best on You Tube and Thx for That...!!!
Amogus
Im feeling genius now, because of your videos!! Lol thanks a lot.
Same buddy
There’s different between knowing and understanding
flat earthers left the group.
Underrated commrnt
That was already explained millenia ago without the need of a model that collapses as soon as you account the 3 body problem
Dude..
I'm a fan already..
Where were you all my life lol !
This video made me realize that I know very little about space. The universe is mind-blowing.
Holy crap! That was one of the most amazing and educational videos I’ve seen yet!
We need, as society, more peple like Jared, who share his knowledge in a totally understandig way. Gracias Jared!!! Saludos desde Argentina.

I’m glad you show things to scale because flat earthers complain about evidence because it isn’t to scale. Keep up the good work!
Does it make sense to you that the moon can cast a 70 mile shadow on the earth ? Remember the sun and moon are about the same size.Prove it!
