+1 on the welding steering stops. Check the neck of the bike, should have two factory steering stops. On my gsxr front end conversion I had to drill and tap two new steering stops to avoid slapping the tank. Also, get yourselves a good Multimeter from your hardware store. Hate to see you guya turn the key just to short out the ignition module or worse. $$$ Enjoying the content. Keep it up!
ditch the xs850 hitachi carburetors, they're a nightmare. switch to mikunis off the xs750 or to keihin CVK's off of a triumph triple, both fit right up but need jetting.
Just picked up an XS850 today. First bike in about 7 years. I look forward to seeing your guy's transformation of it

Flip the pars upside down and weld stops on the neck so they dont hit the tank
