Thanks for an informative review ! We have owned the RD2000 for two months now. It is a beautiful board. We had tried out the Korg Grandstage as well, and it sounded great. I personally chose the Roland due to the fact that it is so versatile with 1100 + tones, and more to download as well and having up to eight split points. The PH50 keybed is phenominal. Being able to layer up to eight tones with a quick move of the sliders is just so powerful, as is the easy keyboard splitting . I usually do a three way split with bass sounds and tympani, full orchestra on the left, center split I put pianos, organs, strings, and choir, or pads, 12 string guitar, etc. On the high end split section, we will put some synth leads, or flute, violin, guitar, etc. There are approximately a dozen mellotron tones as well. I lovvvvve those ! The massive sound of this keyboard is stunning. If you want to tweak the tones, or adjust them, you have that ability in spades. The versatility of adjusting the pianos ( there are around 130 of them ), and tones if you want as well as lowering and raising pitches is quite easy to do. Elton John used the RD1000 and some of those tones are incorporated into this keyboard. So does Rodger Hodgson ( ex of Supertramp ) as do the key players for Depeche Mode, and Styx ( Larry Gowan said this keyboard felt like he was at home on his Steinway grand piano) , to name a few.
Played both and own the Grandstage because I felt it was a much better sounding piano. As the other person said you put velocity curve on 9 and the expressiveness improves immensely. Overall a much better stage piano than Roland.
Hello, someone would have the answer: namely if you can connect or simulate the triple pedal as on an acoustic piano, for that of Sustain, it's ok, but the other two! ? On the RD2000 is possible but on the Korg this is it possible?
ROLLAND LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER WORKSTATION.... BUT KORG LOOKS AND SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MANY VINTAGE KEYBOARDS ...PLUS IT SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER...I personally prefer the keys on the korg...BECAUSE I CAN PLAY FASTER
The Grandstage is a curious proposition. Costs a lot of money, yet loses out in practically all areas against the RD-2000 or even Yamaha's CP-88. The exception is the piano sound. This is always subjective. But the GS's comparative lack of effects and sound control, plus the limited number of layers (2), plus the bizarre decision to allow only delay or reverb at any given time, hobble it, in my view. The RD also has a ton of genuinely usable, often gorgeous "other" voices such as choirs, which the GS doesn't cover at all. I'd say go for the GS if you really, really prefer Korg's pianos. Otherwise, I can't see why you would.
I can plug in my iPhone on my iPad with the input and listen to other music or play along but you can’t do that on the grand stage it doesn’t allow you to do thatThat’s the only thing I don’t like about the grand stage
Roland RD 2000 I think it shines because it integrates with VST’s better the feels better I can plug into my iPad and listen to otherMusic while I play you can’t do that on the ground stage
I have both of them both have they strength and weakness the keybed on the Roland is better,but the piano sounds r better on the grandstage on Roland the stage piano is not the best sounding piano mellow nx concert is the best piano.the upright on the grandstage is butter the eps r a tie I like them both .lol

Grandstage sounds better here, too. I would EQ it for more warmth, though.

Oh if u put Velocity curve on nine grand stage sound way better please don’t get me wrong I love the Rd 2000 to it’s more practical more versatile

I think the EPs are so much better on the GS
I still, feel that the RD2000 keyboard sounds better..
