"Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) has drafted a constitutional amendment that, if ratified, would allow President Donald Trump to run for a third term. However, the measure is worded to prevent former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton from returning to the Oval Office.
The 22nd Amendment states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”*

First of all, no law can override the Constitution and the document is very clear on the 22nd amendment limiting a person to two elected terms and the possibility of completimg another person's term if two years or less. Otherwise you have to amend the document...2/3rds vote in both Houses and 3/4ths of the states passing it (38states) . That is the legal process but do they care about legality?
Does he believe he will be alive after four years? He is 78 right now.

@@natepolsky4398 According to these people’s interpretation, the issue lies in not serving more than two consecutive terms. If that’s the case, the third term wouldn’t be consecutive because it would correspond to 2029-2033. There would be three terms in between: one from Biden and two from Trump, just as there was one term from Biden between Trump’s first and second terms.

Uh...what you describe is exactly what we have, which is why trump was able to run again in 2024; and if he had won in 2020, he would not have been able to run this past election cycle.
@@TheologyAsResistance No, that's not what he said. Under SkullDixon's proposal here, Trump would _not_ have been allowed to run in 2024. Each president can be elected _once,_ and re-elected _once._ If he fails to be re-elected, he cannot run again later. That's actually not a bad proposal.

I've said that there are some segments of the US Constitution, certain aspects that should be unamendable. Two terms for the President should be one of these.
